Mario Kart DS has been hacked

Someone is gonna moan at you for it being old, but I'm sure some havent seen it. I'm assuming its the same video..

I believe these courses were ommitted because there were too many things that might go out of sync. One course has you fall through the floor instead of going through a 'cannon' sometimes too.

Last I knew only one guy knew how to do this and the only way to play was to beg him for a friends-only game. Isn't that still the case?

I already played some of those unavailable tracks online, there was a guy who voted for such a track. I don't know how he was able to do so :lol

They work fine, with minor glitches, but nothing that ruins the races.

I love going online and choosing those courses and blowing people's minds :)

EDIT: You might have raced me, I have a 7up logo with cool spot. I removed my GAF banner :(

Nothing to be sorry about, it's just that the other thread has more info about how this was accomplished, that's what I meant by reference's sake.

While we're here, I just noticed that you can't hold items behind you in WiFi. Is there even half of a reason for this?

Because you touch yourself at night.

And probably because it caused too many lag problems in testing. Too many things to keep track of or something.

Ok... all we need is for a few GAFfers to use the patch mentioned in that one thread and start inviting us all to games...

I wish they could hack in voice chat so I could call all those motherfucking cocksucking snakers motherfucking cocksucking snakers. Come on Gaffers, I wanna play with you guys, not some kid who's all greasy with french fries from Mickey D's

Same here. I think I'm gonna hop on Mario Kart right now and see if anyone's on.

Shoot me an IM (ZombiePancakes) or PM if you added me :)

edit: Hopping off.

Since nonhacked DSes can play the forbidden tracks on NWFN, it must mean that Nintendo has put in the ability in the game to enable them when/if they deem it possible.
That's why nonhacked DSes don't crash with this.
Voice chat on the other hand, I doubt are put in as a secret future possibility.

There's a full on PC Save Editor for Animal Crossing: WW. Also there is a less comprehensive hardware trainer. Same deal for Nintendogs.

I have the Mario Kart patch, so if anyone wants to race on those non-wifi tracks, send me a PM with your info.

My code is 107433-654754

yeah i just saw it.. lol, you can put fucking rocks around villager's houses...

i can imagine using that AC trainer would make the game get really boring really fast...

Actually, now I'm curious -- what is the MKDS patch doing, exactly? Is it just swapping a few bits and allowing a few more tracks to be accessible? If so, does it do that in the ROM or the flash RAM? In other words, is the game designed to allow those additional levels to be accessible if/when Nintendo did an "update"... which would be possible, if the "accessible level table" was stored in RAM, or if a "enable the last few levels" location was in RAM.

Apparently (see my above post).

yah, from what i read, the trainer, which goes on a flashcart in the GBA slot, edits RAM, not ROM, and you use it with the actual real legit store bought MKDS cart in the DS slot

If that were true, wouldn't you only need to run the trainer once, just to save the edited data to the cart? Everything I'm reading seems to imply that you can't do that... that you have to run the "hacked" version off the flash cart every time. If you could just set the proper bits in the saved RAM, you should be able to "unlock" those stages on a standard cart.

Edit: Never mind. It merely adjusts some tables temporarily. The hack is used with the standard game cartridge, doesn't mess your data up, must be used each time you wish to use it... and yes, you can play a bunch of "offline" courses online.

The only problem I can see with this is some twits loading up battle mode levels as races... which would result in unhappy gamers who were stuck with them. How would Nintendo ever catch this, though? I don't think their servers keep track of the levels selected...
