I'm a big fan of Nintendo being garbage on mobile. Remember all the vitriol some years ago about how the company should be turning to mobile. "I should be playing Mario Kart on my phone!" well there you have it 🤣

I deleted the game same day I downloaded it.

Wait so mobile f2p games are not fucking satan?
People that defend this shit are real?
😐

I'm not defending it I'm saying that all the videos about this game are over the top on purpose to gain clicks.
this results in videos like the one in the OP that seem dishonest and ill informed.

as soon as you criticize something an come across as dishonest or hypocritical you are in the risk of hurting your own message because you give the opposition ammunition to use against you.

Mario Kart isn't the first game by Nintendo that is family friendly (aka. aimed at kids and adults alike), has microtransactions, loot box mechanics and level up mechanics.
the only difference I see now with this is that Mario Kart is simply the biggest IP to do this.

and even tho Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing have similar or even worse money making schemes the youtube "outrage" wasn't there for them.
I wonder why 🤔 OH! I know! because those didn't break records and weren't as easy to get views with... or how else is the difference in coverage to be explained?

so TLDR: IMO these vids come across as over the top and hypocritical, and that's what I take issue with because exaggeration and hypocrisy give your opposition ammo and people will ignore your arguments even if they are true at their core

Play the Switch version if you don't like F2P style, which always comes with microtransactions. nothing new here. maybe you haven't played other F2P games from Japan or around the world?

Nintendo going mobile was a mistake. I also don't think Iwata would've approved all the scummy practices Nintendo have been doing for a while now.

It's par for course though.
Super Mario Run was an attempt at having a premium product in mobile, and it didn't work.
So they do mobile shit in the mobile space, and if you want a premium Nintendo experience on the go, you get a Switch.

All the nintendo games for mobile have a monetization system in place.

They have monetization in mobile games, sell dlc for their games, re release games multiple times, keep rehashing the same old franchises over and over again, they have have lootboxes to some extent, they merchandise the living hell out of their properties, they make fairly useless peripherals all the time, etc. Even amiibos are borderline microtransactions but because I get a cool figure I can forgive it.

Nintendo basically does everything people hate about other companies but they don't get called out for it because they have soft and friendly games like mario and a smiling non threatening Japanese man who is very pleasant representing them. Granted they aren't as invasive as some other companies but they still do it.

Yeah, probably. But I think the real secret is that they redeem themselves by making some really good games. That's the only answer I can think of.

They try to maintain profitability as much as possible, and they have for decades. And in this capitalist world, sometimes that means doing a few shitty things. That's no excuse though.

I will give Nintendo a tiny shred of credit. They tried non-monetization with Mario Run — it was a buy once and play it forever experience, and I remember there being massive disappointment amongst shareholders that the game didn't live up to "expectations" — thus we see the subsequent whoring out of their IP's to standard mobile win mechanics and micro transactions.

Dragalia, Animal Crossing, and MARIO Kart mobile have all garnered about 5 minutes of playtime from me before being permanently deleted.

Maybe you played it on the 50cc course? It is dreadfully slow on that, 100cc-150cc feels about right. I haven't tried 200cc yet.

They should have just put a price tag on it and be done with it, have everything unlockable then. All this money grabbing only hurts there image.

If you charge for this game you can't release it as is. You need real races against real people. The whole game is to get money out of you, can't you guys see? The way it's made only works in F2P gacha mode.

Lol at comments on deleting the game on the same day. Don't worry, casuals will do the work for you, and will surely use your yearly gaming spending on their monthly basis.

Tried the game, it's the usual gacha flavor, definitely not worse than others. I'd even say them confronting players on $5 monthly pass at the start means they're being honest more than other successful games. The worse ones would actually tried as much as they could to hide their their greedy business framework without players being aware of it. SP, FateGO (Sony-owned lol) , FF Mobius and Exvius, Lineage 2 Rev etc.

And the 1% percent chance for one character aka Mario? Other famous game had pull rate as low as 0.05% per character. Most greedy bastards would be Lineage where you only have a 15 % chance to be successful on combining legendary equipment, losing all your previous grind loot for days if you fail. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

That monthly pass is ridiculous. It still doesn't unlock everything. You can play lots of full games on Apple Arcade for the same price per month.

Yeahhhh I think these shitty mobile games has more to do with Nintendo's shareholders than Nintendo, just strikes me as weird when they charge such a low price for switch online but makes a terrible control Mario kart game and you don't even start with Mario lol.

playing the game for 1-2 weeks maybe.

Haven't payed at all and i'm having a blast. I don't event know where is the store on this game. I also download Angry birds bubble game, so addictive, that is screaming for me to use some money.

So imo Mario kart is not cash crab at all, we can easily play any time you want.
