Mario Kart Track DLC on way?

No, he paid $60 for 8 cups, 30 characters, online connectivity, several gameplay modes, over 50 kart parts and whatever comes in between. I think $5-7 is perfect pricing for each cup.

Charge $7 for cup or get a season pass for $20 and you receive all 4. Similar to the 3DS Mario Golf game.

It doesn't seem too overpriced but they're not giving it away either.

This, this guy gets it.

It will definitely be a $7 or $8 a cup with volume discount and I will be there day one.

10$ per cup seems reasonable to me if they are first rate tracks like most of the main game.

5$ per cup???

hahahahahahaha, not going to happen.

It can definitely happen if these are retro tracks. Hackers have been able to easily import course model files from previous MKs into Mario Kart Wii and turn them into custom tracks. Look at 3DS Music Park or Wii Grumble Volcano in Mario Kart 8: they barely received any change besides texture/lightning upgrades.

I'm going to predict here that the new tracks will be sold in cups (sets of four), but each cup also includes extra playable characters. Sort of the Fire Emblem Awakening DLC which was Map + Character.

I think this would be a good opportunity to remake tracks in MK8 style that were already remade in previous games. MK Wii only had a few great original tracks, so of course MK7 cherry-picked those and left Moo Moo Meadows and Grumble Volcano for MK8. The MK8 versions are vastly improved, but I'd still love to see HD remakes of Maple Treeway and Mushroom Gorge. Or Delfino Square, Waluigi Pinball, or SNES Mario Circuit.

In addition to some new tracks, of course.

Extra courses will be free DLC. Nintendo will not charge for them. Not that I know anything, but it doesn't seem like a smart thing to do.
I can see Nintendo offering 1 cup totally for free just so users know there's new content available and rise awareness about it but whoever thinks they're not willing to charge for new content in a high quality game as Mario Kart is being delusional.

If you follow Nintendo of America on Twitter, they've been highlighting a single track from Mario Kart 8 every two days since August 8th:

8/8: DK Jungle
8/10: Dolphin Shoals
8/12: Moo-Moo Meadows
8/14: Yoshi Valley
8/16: Cheep Cheep Beach
8/18: Bone Dry Dunes
8/20: Donut Plains

At this rate, they'll have highlighted all 32 existing tracks by Oct. 9th. If there is DLC coming this year, I expect they'll announce it then (and maybe even release it since 10/9 happens to be a Thursday).

I think October makes sense since it would come after Hyrule Warriors, but before Bayonetta 2, Captain Toad, and Smash Bros., which I think are supposed to release between late October and late November.

Hope I'm right!

It would be funny if they get to the end of the list and then start listing the new tracks every 2 days without any other announcement.

New tracks as DLC would be a great way to bring back the people that have stopped playing. I suppose they will be a mix of new and retro tracks. Maybe retro ones will be free and new ones not?

Anyway, I hope Wario Colosseum, Delfino Square, Airship Fortress and Shy Guy Bazaar are among the retro courses.
