Mario Party 10 or Wii Party U for non-gamers?

Wii Party U's strength comes mostly from the House Party section of games. That said, TV Party at least has The Balldozer and Team Building, which are great.

Just played Wii Party U gamepad specific coop and competitive games. Baseball game is amazing.

We've played a lot of Wii Party U over the years and I'm ashamed I've only played these games for the first time this evening.

Oops. Thought this was a 2017 thread, sorry

The tabletop games are an underappreciated benefit of the Gamepad, definitely.

Anyway, I actually thought about the OP's question recently. I could NEVER play Mario Party 10 again and be totally fine, but I'd miss Wii Party U if I had to shelve it for good. More variety and more longevity than MP10 without a doubt.

Which one has the stupid car? the one that doesn't is better and if they both have it, then Wii Party for the wii.

This lazy criticism tires me out every time.

Well the car is a lazy mechanic aimed to to streamline the series, but in the process removes almost everything that was fun about the boards like the complexity, strategy and so forth in favor of going on a straight line to the point where boards feel the same.

I hate getting into arguments about it, but there's nothing about "the car" that's inherently "lazy" or a bad mechanic. There are interesting dynamics with controlling the placement on the board or fate of the other players, that is executed better than others in certain boards and by game. Like the Boo Mansion and Captain Events from Mario Party 9. MP10 was a downgrade in most ways, but the gameplay style still has party value because insane turns of events can and do still happen. "Boards feeling the same" doesn't really gel with the interesting mechanics that do fit the linear design like Boo chases, lava rising, Bowser attacks, Bob-omb Hot Potato, Airship Fights, etc.

There's flaws, and yes, it's less strategic to a fault, but "the car" is a weak argument usually peddled by people who played it literally once and feel entitled to no gameplay design deviation from the 8+ Mario Party games that already exist.
