MARIO + RABBIDS: Kingdom Battle |OT| XCOM on mushrooms

I still haven't received my copy from Amazon despite pre-ordering it and having Prime.

Anyone else had this problem?

UK btw

Not with this game, but yes, often. That's why I stopped using Amazon. My housemate got his from them yesterday and he only ordered it at the weekend.

Was wondering what was lacking about using characters that attack with Dash and I noticed that I haven't put points into the skill that increases their movement range.

Why wasn't the pre-order code for the pixel weapons just a straight eshop code? I can't even work out where to input the code on ubis shitty site to get the actual code..

No quicksave in the missions really sucks.

Honestly I like that you can't save, if you could checkpoint mid-battle it ruins the whole stratagy part more then it helps it.

Since the switch has a really good sleep mode it's not like you really need to save if you have to stop, the only down side to that is if you change game before finishing a battle.

I'm watching the Giant Bomb quick look. I'm not up to the desert world that's shown in the video, but the music reminds me a lot of Gobi's Valley from Banjo-Kazooie.

I don't think I'll ever get sick of the Grant Kirkhope sound.

Mine worked here: http://www.mario-rabbids.com/redeem

Had to sign up with Ubisoft, then I got sent an email with the eShop key in it. It's kind of annoying that the Ubisoft key is the same format as the eShop key, I tried that several times until I just gave up and asked Google.

You're an absolute legend. That worked, now I just need to wait for Ubi to email me the actual eShop code.

Weird that they did it differently depending on your region (I'm in Aus).

Fuck this.

I was in the last phase of the Rabbid Kong fight. Even got an enemy pull the switch thanks to bounce and then the game crashed. Have to watch the cutscene and do the battle again.

Denmark here. I did notice it redirected me to a /nordic address, so it's probably different by region.

How are they gifting the preorder bonus then? I ordered mine through Amazon so I have to wait til mine comes tomorrow. Will there be a code or something in my game?

Mine was, all I had to do was plug the code into the eShop.

Maybe this isn't the case outside the US?

My code was on a card in the box, clipped in where the manual would be if it had one.

Okay, I just a weird experience. I'm just after the beginning, but anyway I was playing, left my game paused for I think a couple of hours or so, the system went to sleep (it's docked BTW).

So I go back, wake it up and resume the game.

At first the controls were a bit laggy, but then all of the sudden, the screen freezes for like 5 seconds, and then the game unfreezes and fast-forwards to catch up where it should be.

Is this the game, the Switch, or my TV?

Edit: Sounds like I'm not alone. That's a relief.

Edit 2: Lag was cured after the freeze BTW.

Quoting myself to hopefully hear more folks who had this experience. Just still worried if it wasn't the game.

When fighting, are you rushed for time or decisions when moving?

Do enemies always wait? Even if I take a long ass time between moves?

Also, is there any strategy to attacking? I mean in terms of moving all characters then attacking with all 3 characters? Vs move one, attack one, move one, attack etc.

What is the replay value of this game?

You can replay the chapters, to get Perfect. Was that what you mean?

In the battles, I haven't encountered any timers yet. There are timed things in the non-battle "mini games".

Also, is there any strategy to attacking? I mean in terms of moving all characters then attacking with all 3 characters? Vs move one, attack one, move one, attack etc.

Yes, there is a difference. There's no point in moving a player to a point where the enemy will already be gone when it's time for the attack. And there are movements that attacks. And since there are jump and pipe movement, one moved character is relative to another character. And so on.

Many of the reviews cover these basic things pretty well.

No rush, it's 100% turn-based. You can plan out a full move and it won't execute until you confirm, you can be like...ok dash through this enemy to deal damage, then run back and bounce on this ally to get up to a higher platform, take cover behind this block...as long as you don't hit A you can cancel out and try another path.

And yeah there's strategy to attacking. You can move or attack or use a secondary move with anyone at any time. So you could dash through an enemy with all 3 to deal enough damage to kill them, and then shoot with all 3 at a different guy. Or dash through one with Mario, then shoot with Luigi, then shoot with Mario, then bounce Luigi off Mario to get him to safety somewhere. etc.

Haven't kept up with this thread too much but is there any consensus yet on whether to go physical or digital?

I remember reading some earlier posts about users having performance issues, are those still going on?

Perhaps these seconds of freeze is related to sleep mode? BotW had an issue with sleep mode and Blood Moons.

I haven't encountered that issue myself yet. But I usually don't use sleep mode in a game.

Someone was asking earlier how you are supposed to know if an enemy will hit you.

During combat, go to the Tacticam (Press X)

Pick an enemy to lock onto. (Press Y)
(Otherwise, you can highlight the enemy)

The default it shows is Movement. Press L or R to change it to show the enemies weapons which gives the weapon range.

The reason you may want to lock onto an enemy is that moving the reticle away will stop scanning that enemy.

Yes, I can confirm that it happens when you resume gaming after Sleep Mode.

Wait, so the Season Pass on the Canadian eShop DOES include the Pixel Pack... but....

It's only being activated on October 4th????????????? What?

Patch notes, you can decide for yourself:

Holy shit! Those are far more serious changes than I expected. Bug fixes AND new cutscenes? Also I wonder what resetting the skill tree used to cost. I applied the day one patch immediately so I had no idea that used to cost something. I find it interesting that I can just reset the skills for each battle depending on what I need. I was surprised to even see that as an option and just figured I'd be screwed with whatever choices I made.

For people having issues with freezes, jut figured out why.

After even factory reseting my Switch (which made me lose my 80 hr Zelda save but I was planning to replay it anyway), and only installing Mario + Rabbids, the issue persisted. After that, tried to move the game to my SD Card, no dice, same thing. Redownloaded it and now back to built in storage, also same thing.

Finally, since this was happening with carts and in completely different patterns for everyone, decided to delete my Internet settings (since we can't enable airplane mode while docked) and voilá, problem solved.

Long story short, for some reason the game is querying the Internet and I believe that the more unstable / bad is your connection, the more the freezes will happen, like in my case (because Australia).

Not exactly a good fix but should at least eliminate the 3 second freezes for those who get it.

Finished World 2 (story part).

So not only is Mario fixed as the leader, you can't take two Nintendo characters with you.

I can't take Peach and Luigi, so I have to switch out one of them for a Rabbids character.
