MARIO + RABBIDS: Kingdom Battle |OT| XCOM on mushrooms

How important are coins?

I found a glitch?

If your infront of coins and after collecting them you quit the game and reload, the said coins are still there to collect again. Rinse and repeat.

yeah they tend to respawn
You buy your guns with them so that is pretty important

Wasn't there a mushroom around the starting levels you're in on the overworld that does just that?

no clue. able to finish danger from above part and it was much harder than I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the game and want to learn to play these type of games more. But they shouldn't force you to have one of your toons either dead or with very little HP going into the next fight without a chance to restore your life or HP.

This isn't XCOM.

I mean... it pretty much is XCOM lol, and they do have ways to heal in the overworld, they starts popping up around 1-5 but you may have to look around a bit, and eventually you do get ways to heal in battle as well.

Huh? I played it for like 30 minutes earlier and it still looks like a full charge.

Yes, something looks bad on their Switches. I reached World 1 boss (boss, not mid-boss) and just then I received the low battery (14%) warning. That must have been after 2.5-3 hours of play.

whats the word on the length? Might have to dust off the old (well...) Switch for this, looks fantastic.

You heal every chapter, and a chapter is 2 fights. You're supposed to be careful on the first map, knowing the next one you won't heal.

You can reset your chapter progress by going back to Peach's castle and coming back to the area.

Meant it plays like x-com but it shouldn't be as harsh as x-com in terms of team members death, etc.

Good points nonetheless and will keep an eye on this. But I really am enjoying the store and the humor.

Found a weird graphical glitch---in the beginning of the game when you encounter your first pair of pipes, the right one takes you to an island. If you move around on the far right side it messes up the shadows of clouds and they speed up.

Otherwise this game is pretty fun (just beat 1-3...barely!), and the music is great---the best Peach's Castle remix easily. Hearing David Wise do the music though makes me realize how amazing this would've been as a full on Donkey Kong title, because I totally could see the DK Crew wielding weapons and such.

I'm hoping this "series" goes the opposite route that Rabbids did---ditches the Rabbids and becomes a straight-up Mario XCOM.

The Four Horsemen.

I got the same glitch.

Fun game so far. Put in about two hours in today and really enjoying it. Played handheld for about an hour and a half and still half the battery left.

My gut's telling me we'll see Rabbid Peach in Smash Bros - either as a character or as an alt costume for a generic Rabbid guest fighter.

Could be that just a Rabbid gets in and has 4 recolours alongside Rabbid Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi. That would make more sense than just having Rabbid Peach if it's just going to be a skin.

Now at 1-7.

This game is a lot more charming than what I expected so far. Maybe just a honeymoon feeling. No regrets so far.

Finished up the first mid boss and calling it a night. It's still pretty easy but I know it'll get more challenging... Probably shouldn't have used the pixel preorder weapons but it looks like they'll stop being overpowered soon. I want an instant hater on the humor but I'm still surprised how much it has made me laugh. Luigi's introduction had me in hysterics. I also loved Mario applauding the robot.

with I find kinda rough for a Mario game? they should give you mushrooms or whatever to heal your HP. going into a battle with 10hp is really harsh.

If you have low HP that means you screwed up your previous battles because you were playing too recklessly by being open to enemy fire.

Other than mushrooms that can appear while you explore outside combat, your health recovers after finishing an area as in finish 1-3 etc.

You won't get characters to heal until you unlock skill trees later in the game.

Just beat the first world and tried doing one of the challenges. It said very easy but I'm assuming this is more end game type stuff?

Just got luigi. Pretty happy with the game so far. Didn't know there would be skill trees so that'll be fun to get into.

The pixel pack comes with the season pass apparently so I guess I don't need the code that came in the box, quote to see if you want it.

In terms of healing, there are a few ways:

You can find a Mushroom on the map but these are rare to come by. I think I've seen maybe 2-3 in the first world? Always in the same location.

Rabbid Peach can be a Healer. When you unlock the skill tree, you can choose the ability to heal you and your teammates. You can also decrease the cool time or increase how much she heals.

Rabbid Luigi can drain health and heal himself when you unlock Vamp Dash, which gives you health back when you dash. You can increase the amount he gets back.

Like it was stated above, you get HP back after a chapter. Or you can exit back to the castle and restart.

On a different topic, I'm in World 2 right now and I hit a regular block that had those spots of honey. When I did that, the block transformed into an actual Honey block! That's pretty cool. I don't know how often that happens but it's good to know.

Just beat the first world and tried doing one of the challenges. It said very easy but I'm assuming this is more end game type stuff?

When you beat a challenge you get some coins and (very few) power orbs for the skill tree. It's up to you if you want a few more orbs now or you rather wait.

Started up the game and I got to the danger above or something, really enjoying it very charming, combat is wonderful and it's fun to just run explore.
Really enjoying it

I've gotten all the way through the world 1 midboss and haven't found it difficult at all yet... Perfects on all battles. The emphasis on movement is really sweet and alows for some great set-ups.

it seemed really hard, 14 enemies in 3 turns seems like a lot.

Because of the mechanics, you can do alot of damage in 3 turns.

You can use those sentries Luigi has to take care of multiple people. Or Mario's hammer can do the trick. Just don't hit your allies lol.

Dashing is basically a free turn to get a hit in. Dash then position yourself to shoot.

The brothers have those reaction shots. When an enemy moves, that skill activates and you get a free shot.

If you can't do it now, that's ok. Get a better weapon and test out the skill tree. It's awesome that you can reset your skills at any time to try whatever build you want.

I've always semi-enjoyed these types of games, but I've never really sat down and played one for an extended period of time. I'm loving this one though. Beat World 1 tonight with all Perfects, except for the final boss. Couldn't wrap my head around what I was supposed to do for a few rounds, which made me lose Luigi and go way over the turn count.

Definitely can't wait to play through the rest of this.

That world 2 boss was brutal. Took me two tries and a lot of cheesing. Enemies kept getting straight crits, and that overwatch on the boss was far reaching.

But yay, onto dead world!

Had to force myself to stop playing today. That's when you know you have a good game. I really hope ubisoft recognizes this and shifts their development onto more projects like this and South Park.

Just to add more to the topic of healing:

If you inflict the Vamp status effect on someone, each time an ally hits that enemy, they get some health back.

I'm using Rabbid Luigi with a Vamp weapon. That's how I noticed it.

So far though world 1.... 10/10

Superb graphics, great gameplay mechanics and great soundtrack work, all coated in some thick fan service. This game oozes charm and I love it.

Was playing on TV, went to goto handheld mode and all of a sudden my right joycon isnt syncing to the system.

Hey, this happened to me once last week, just go to the controller set up menu, hit the little sync button on the inside of the joy con and it'll probably fix itself up.

The environment design, just visually, is astounding. This game has rough spots, but that's one area where they out-Nintendo'd Nintendo. Its wild

going back to previous levels to unlock stuff is pretty important
after not being able to beat 3-1 I am now finding lots of puzzles I could not do before and they are unlocking some big guns for me

So are you able to replay a level if you didn't perfect it? Just got my first non-perfect fighting
Piranarabbid boss
and would like to give it another go.

Do you have to do anything to use the Steampunk weapons? I bought the pack and got a pop-up that said they were unlocked. But I can't seem to find them in the game at all.
I'm wondering this as well. I bought the season pass but only have access to the pixel weapons in-game. Does anyone know what's going on?

Man I'm loving this game music and gameplay are on point. Just realized you can chain together attacks. Didn't play much xcom but really digging this.
