MARIO + RABBIDS: Kingdom Battle |OT| XCOM on mushrooms

The game is fun but for some reason I think I'm having more fun running around the world and finding the secrets than the actual combat?
 
I bought the season pass, but the steampunk weapons aren't appearing in the Battle HQ for me? Am I missing something?

Also, I wish I hadn't already redeemed my code for the pixel weapons since I would've just got them anyway with the season pass. Could have let my husband use it instead, oh well.

EDIT: Just saw that others have already asked the same thing, lol, sorry, didn't see that before posting.
 
Took my first loss at the mid boss in world 2. Gonna sleep on that one and try again before work tomorrow because I got destroyed.
 
Having those jumping rabbids leap off another one, only for both Mario and Luigi to snipe them out of the air makes this my new GOTY.
 
I feel really inadequate after reading early impressions saying the first world was a breeze. I've gotten some Goods instead of Perfects already and I'm on 1-8 or something like that.
 
Running slide > jump off teammate > head stomp > hammer > hero mode > pop a moving enemy during their turn. Mario you so beefy.

Discovering a lot of really cool setups, and it's only World 1.
 
Good God I wasn't expecting the Rabbid Mario figurine to be this big. I thought it was the same size as the other amiibos.
 
I'm so happy this game is as fun as it is. I hope it doesn't become a chore combat wise later on. The lightheartedness is part of the charm.
 
Taking a break here at 1-7 and I'm very pleased that this game is shaping up to be just as good as the reviews said it would be. I'm having a total blast with the combat system and the crazy maneuvers you can pull off by sliding into an enemy, jumping off a teammate and then sniping another foe across the field. The humor, for me at least, has been on point to. I find myself laughing at a lot of the animations they put into all the rabbids you encounter.

If you inflict the Vamp status effect on someone, each time an ally hits that enemy, they get some health back.

I'm using Rabbid Luigi with a Vamp weapon. That's how I noticed it.

Vamp is amazing, I've been speccing Rabbid Luigi to get multiple dashes and inflict that on everyone. Currently in world 2 and his slide is hitting for 80, inflicts vamp, and he can hit two people.

Rabbid Mario has a vamp shotgun and I just scattershot into 3 enemies point blank and healed for over 100HP, lol.

I was expecting to enjoy the combat either way but I've also been genuinely surprised by this, the world looks gorgeous and is actually well designed. Going back through world 1 after beating it and seeing some of the shortcut cannons fire you over the terrain really has it stand out.

The exploration bits were always a big unknown for me heading into this but I've been really enjoying it. Overall I'm actually pretty stunned this is as good as it is. There's so much charm in the animations too.
 
I got through World 1 recently and I figured that was a good stopping point for me along with the Switch's battery getting low and it getting late. I'm loving this game so far: the music is solid, the presentation is great, the combat is fun and the exploration/puzzle sections are simplistic and easy, but are still a nice diversion from combat.

Can't wait to play some more!
 
The overworld anomalies (they prompt you to press A) are... Pretty lame. I mean I understand this game is for kids, but, do kids really want a better look at the Goomba being shot up by water? Or the Rabbids dancing on a big flower?

Otherwise this game is pretty good. Wish I could cancel movement though. When you decide to move you're just locked in, I guess. And I can't wait to be able to heal.

I kind of like little stuff like that. It's the cute diversions that make you smile that keep you interacting and exploring! ;)
 
I spent over half an hour figuring out how not to take a single hit in the first smasher stage. For some reason this game has brought out the perfectionist in me that even Fire Emblem doesn't trigger. I'm loving it.
 
What a pleasant treat this game is so far. I’ve only just gotten past the first mid-boss, but the game has undeniable charm and I’m looking forward to more. I can see why reviews are in the mid 80s, though. It definitely doesn’t feel like as polished an experience as a first party effort.

Odd bit of trivia: I was surprised to discover you can complete a battle successfully and wipe out your entire party at the same time. That’s how the mid-boss battle ended for me.

Though it looks really close to Super Mario 3D World, which actually is amazing as I want more games looking like this. :p

Not sure it's worth it, but it was interesting to find out I can restart a battle I just beat for the first time even when on the results screen. Saves me the trouble of coming back later for the perfect (especially when the only reason I didn't get one was because Luigi decided now was when his sub weapon would hit critically and kill himself in the process).
 
Is there a down side to not getting a perfect in each battle? I'm in world 1-8 or 1-9 and Luigi died to one of those big fuckers and I ended up with a good or very good (whichever is second best to perfect) instead of perfect. It's my first time not getting a Perfect. Should I start the world again? I've been playing on the default difficulty and so far I haven't ran into any challenges.
 
Not sure what's going on, but docked the game looks amazing to me. Undocked however, it's a blurry, washed out mess. I'm not usually sensitive to things like this. I've seen a few other people say the same thing online also thinking they are crazy. Anyone else having this issue undocked?
 
Okay, I just a weird experience. I'm just after the beginning, but anyway I was playing, left my game paused for I think a couple of hours or so, the system went to sleep (it's docked BTW).

So I go back, wake it up and resume the game.

At first the controls were a bit laggy, but then all of the sudden, the screen freezes for like 5 seconds, and then the game unfreezes and fast-forwards to catch up where it should be.

Is this the game, the Switch, or my TV?

Edit: Sounds like I'm not alone. That's a relief.

Edit 2: Lag was cured after the freeze BTW.

My thoughts so far:

Just died to the first boss and decided to take a break. The game is really good. I hope that it keeps getting deeper and deeper, and more importantly, harder. I do have the pixel guns, but I tried them and they seemed way too strong. I went back to the regular stuff.

So far, im liking Luigi's sniper ability and his hero power. Same with Mario. You can really set up some nice combos using these, especially against those basher guys.

Hmm?

I did the challenges by going back to the World 1 area by walking there, I didn't use the washing machine because I think that's for replaying story mode stages.
 
Apologizes if this has been asked and answered already but is what a golden shot is ever explained in the game and I just happened to miss it (about to finish world 1 for placements sake). Is there some sort of trigger to it or is it just a random bonus you can get similar to crits?

Care to take any pics? The game is definitely softer in portable mode, but I wouldn't call it a blurry mess. Switch's screen is a bit too desaturated for my taste, if that's the correct word.
