Mark Wahlberg is a bad ass

I have known about Mark Wahlberg's shady past for well over a decade, and it has always sickened me how year after year, he becomes more and more successful.

He absolutely is the same racist, homophobic piece of garbage he always has been, but he knows he can't express his true bigotry or else he would kiss his career goodbye.

Please note guys that Mark has on MULTIPLE occasions beaten up Asians. He didn't just permanently blind one Vietnamese man, but on another occasion, he smashed another Vietnamese man's head in, leaving him bleeding and unconscious on the street.

Nobody runs around bashing MULTIPLE Vietnamese people (whilst shouting racist slurs) or thrown rocks at black people calling them the N word, and just suddenly switches off those thoughts.

What's truly scary is i'm sure there are plenty more attacks that he got away with and aren't reported.

Furthermore, what I can't stand about Mark Wahlberg is that he is super religious (he chose not to do Brokeback Mountain because of religious issues - so clearly he thinks there is something wrong with being gay), yet for some reason he never had a problem banging a whole bunch of women outside marriage (not to mention having kids born out of wedlock...a MAJOR no no in Catholicism, well, except for hypocrite super Catholic Marky Mark I guess).

He's just an all round sick fuck. Cannot stand him!

Whoa this post just reeks of hate. You'll have to provide some sources to your claims before anybody will believe you.

He absolutely is the same racist, homophobic piece of garbage he always has been, but he knows he can't express his true bigotry or else he would kiss his career goodbye.

How do you know this?

I'd like to see sources on these MULTIPLE assaults.

What do you base this off?

Furthermore, what I can't stand about Mark Wahlberg is that he is super religious (he chose not to do Brokeback Mountain because of religious issues - so clearly he thinks there is something wrong with being gay), yet for some reason he never had a problem banging a whole bunch of women outside marriage (not to mention having kids born out of wedlock...a MAJOR no no in Catholicism, well, except for hypocrite super Catholic Marky Mark I guess).

Who gives a shit? It's his beliefs, he can interpret and shape them any way he wants. I don't think you're in any position to tell him how to think or act when it comes to religion.

This thread seems to be littered with posts similar to this one, people thinking they know exactly how a person hasn't changed at all in 25 years coming from a troubled childhood. I swear there are some really shitty posts and opinions in this thread.

shit. that gif is hilarious. dude was a total psycho on set too apparently.

off topic, but I just read up on this.

"Sonny Landham was hired to work on this film, but on one condition: the insurance company insisted on an around-the-clock bodyguard for Landham, not to protect the actor, but to protect everyone else from the actor (who was prone to bar fights)."

lol. Awesome.
This guy would eat Marky Mark's lunch.

Here you go....he bashed two Vietnamese men in two completely separate attacks in just one night. Must of been a busy night of Asian bashing for Marky Mark.....

Oh, and Mark didn't just scream out "Vietnamese fucking shits" but also "SLANT EYED GOOKS"...

Criminal Complaint
In the Suffolk County Superior Court, Commonwealth of Massachusetts
1988

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on April 8, 1988 Thanh Lam, a Vietnamese adult male who resides in Dorchester, traveled by car to 998 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Massachusetts. At 998 Dorchester Avenue, Thanh Lam left his car carrying two cases of beer. As he crossed the sidewalk, Mark Wahlberg attacked Thanh Lam. Wahlberg was carrying a large wooden stick, approximately five feet long and two to three inches in diameter. Wahlberg approached Thanh Lam calling him a "Vietnam fucking shit," then hit him over the head with the stick. Thanh Lam was knocked to the ground unconscious. The stick broke in two and was later recovered from the scene. Thanh Lam was treated overnight at Boston City Hospital.

After police arrested Wahlberg later on the night of April 8, 1988, Wahlberg was informed of his rights and returned to the scene of 998 Dorchester Avenue. In the presence of two police officers, he stated: "You don't have to let him identify me, I'll tell you now that's the mother-fucker who's head I split open," or words to that effect.

As a police officer arrived at the scene of 998 Dorchester Avenue, Wahlberg and two other youths who were with him fled up Dorchester Avenue toward Pearl Street.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on April 8, 1988, Hoa Trinh, an adult Vietnamese male who resides in Dorchester, was standing several blocks away from 998 Dorchester Avenue, near the corner of Dorchester Avenue and Pearl Street. Hoa Trinh was not aware of the altercation outside of 998 Dorchester Avenue.

Wahlberg ran up to Hoa Trinh, put his arm around Hoa Trinh's shoulder, and said: "Police coming, police coming, let me hide." After a police cruiser passed, Wahlberg punched Trinh in the eye, causing him to fall to the ground.

Police arrived and Hoa Trinh identified Wahlberg as the person who punched him. Wahlberg was placed under arrest and read his rights. Thereafter he made numerous unsolicited racial statements about "gooks" and "slant-eyed gooks." After being returned to 998 Dorchester Avenue, Wahlberg identified Thanh Lam as the person he hit over the head with a stick.

At the end of Rocky 4, Rocky didn't say "you can change, I can change, but Marky Mark can't change!", he said "Everyone can change". Everyone.

How many rappers made amends with their previous lives?

I'm not sure, but this misses the point. It's not about statistics. Anyone who was a racist, violent douchebag to such a degree is still a douchebag, and it's evident in things Wahlberg says and does presently.

If no "rappers" have made amends, then they all get equal scorn.

On another note, is "Pain and Gain" offensively inaccurate? My buddy was telling me that the people in the movie are actual murderes, and the rich asshole in the movie is actually a nice guy who was tortured by them (like water board) I hope the movie doesn't really portray them as heroes fighting the system, that's fucked up. Imagine being the person tortured and then have a movie come out, directed by Michael Bay, telling people it was okay. Jeeeeeooosus

since we all agree that Wahlberg is the worst human being ever, then I'm sure we can also agree that he was 100% behind the inaccuracies in this movie. Not Michael Bay.

Once a racist always a... oh.

A guy dates a half-Asian and all of a sudden his racist tendencies go away? Celebrities play certain images up or down for the crowds. In Wahlberg's case he wanted to appear to not be a racist douchebag, so it's possible that's why he dated someone who was Asian.

This kind of reminds me of when for some reason the news reported John Travolta trying to get sexual with male masseuses. A few days later Travolta was seen with his wife kissing her profusely in public. Coincidence?

See, some people would just laugh and dismiss your post as some made-up bullshit internet ramblings, but not me man, I think you've uncovered a conspiracy! Quick, someone tell Wikileaks!

What does this mean? What stupid shit? Who are the many racists that you're talking about? How does the shit in this thread cause these racists to stop being racist?

I may have misunderstood some of the viewpoints in this thread, but I feel some posters think a racist thug can't change after 20 odd years. A lot of racists are bigots because they grew up surrounded by and looking up to bigots. Lashing out at someone will only raise their defenses.

Also, if Wahlberg hasn't given that dude he beat a large sum of money, he's a sorry piece of shit.

Oh yeah I totally agree, sorry man I read your post the wrong way the first time.

I like his movies (mostly) and I had no reason to after his earlier career as Marky Marky.

His blinding of that gentleman is fucked up, but what I want to ask is this .......... can any racist be redeemed and forgiven? ... or homophobe, anti-Semite etc.

Or are you permanently struck off the list?

I ask only because it seems as that is where this thread has gone.

I wonder how many bad asses in this thread are fans of Roman Polanski and his films.

I think Roman Polanski is a very talented director. I also think he's a scumbag for raping a girl then running away to avoid punishment.

This thread is mainly us venting about how big of a douche AND a shitty actor Wahlberg is.

But you are able to separate the art from the artist? I guess that was my point. I still like Wahlberg movies, despite what he did when... he was 16 ...growing up in Boston ... in the 80's. Okay, even that is hard for me to hold that against him.

I think so. I guess my thoughts would be:

Polanski:
- great director
- rapist asshole who evaded punishment

Wahlberg:
- shitty actor
- perennial scumbag racist asshole

But in the case of Wahlberg, a lot of us have been talking about how Wahlberg's douchebag persona largely shapes his acting. So in a way those two things are roughly related. With a guy like Polanski, you don't see him in front of the camera, so it's easier to separate his work from his persona.
