Oh Marky Mark....

On being scheduled to be on one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center

“If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.’”

So this dude would not have only taken over the plane but landed it safely? What a bad ass motherfucker he is...right?

no, it would have been

"Mark Wahlberg among the 9/11 casualties"

WOAH THIS DUDE SOUNDS BAD ASS, I GOTTA SEE CONTRABAND NOW

Dude is a BOSS and he knows it. Don't be hatin.

I bet he also would have landed the plane in the Hudson River, Sully Sullenberger style, just to show off.

is it ridiculous? because first he'd lull the terrorists with his soothing, rational voice until he gets into striking position then WHAM! FEEL THE VIBRATIONS! 9/11 averted.

well before he was known, Whalberg was a pretty scummy guy involved with street gangs.. He even beat an old man so hard that the man became blind.

"What the fuck does that mean? What is a catch-22, burt?"

"Catch-22, gentleman. Think about it."

"You know what I'm thinking about, man? I'm thinking about kicking some fuckin' ass!"

Well, maybe the Funky Bunch was supposed to be with him. That's him AND a posse.

I think this is meant to be a joke. It's in bad taste, but still. He can't be serious.

my college classmate died on the second plane that hit the Towers so i find it in extremely bad taste. no one knows what they would do in a situation like that.

Mark Wahlberg is essentially insulting the 9/11 victims by calling them either weak or cowardly or both.

He forgets than pre 9/11 standard terrorist/plane action was land somewhere and use as ransom. This is why the only plane to fight back was the plane that knew about the world trade center beforehand.

If terrorists tried to take plane now? They would get gangstomped by the rest of the plane because they know they might use them as a human missile.

Would you risk your life to prevent a 1-3 day kidnapping and potentially denying terrorists money? Probably not.

Would you risk your life to save your own life /everyone's life on the plane from being used in a suicide attack? Much more likely even if you are a coward.

Also: I think anyone looking backwards now can easily say they would have done something to prevent it. At the time the people on the planes wanted to do what was in their best interest to survive...and at the time that would have been to sit tight and hope everything plays out in their favor.

Wahlberg saying that is pretty out of control...I can't even imagine how he thought that was a good thing to say.

Even if he had some idea of what he would like to do, he has no guarantee that he would have been able to do it. I am assuming he does not fly with guns, and would therefore be unable to defend himself against armed terrorists. In reality, an account of the event would probably end with "There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin," with no subsequent Wahlbergian quote.

The guy can't possibly assume he could have single handedly stopped an organized hijacking in the moment. That's ridiculous.

That's without mentioning the way it tarnishes the memory of those who likely did try to stop the hijackers.

indeed, dude thinks he's some superhero.

I think it's Neil Degrasse Tyson too, which doubles the awesome.

Oh it's definitely Neil Degrasse Tyson. He's pretty much my favorite person right now.

He's right. The terrorists would have fell down laughing that the good vibrations guy who walked around with his pants down was threatening to kick their asses. 9/11 prevented.

he's no harrison ford

In all honesty, I would. Despite having a family and knowing my attempt could/would be pointless, I'd feel the need and rage to do something. I know they had a knife etc, I'd run down the aisle and try to drop kick one as my first attempt, in order to keep distance from the knife. Hopefully other men would join in my effort.

Delusional, maybe, but I know I'd definitely try, ESPECIALLY if I could see out the plane window and see us flying through the city.
