Marvel’s The Defenders | Official Trailer

Who's the woman in the back? Elektra?

Bullet proof...
Blind Ninja...
Whatever it is you are...
... and me... I'm the kung fu "master" that got the business given to me by some random goomba in a hospital records room.

Iron Fist's show was so damn bad. He seems easily the most useless of the bunch. He's not particularly smart and every one of the other defenders could kick his ass.

If they had made it so a glowy hand punch could put down a Hand ninja for good, that would be something. As it is, Danny seems the one who will at some point need rescuing. Even more than non-powered Claire.

He got sucker punched with a brass nuckle. Against hand warriors he did far better than Daredevil.

Lol what? The school kids danny was fighting werent in the same league as the borderline supernatural ninjas dd fought against. Matt would also take hits and not get put down. Danny let his guard down and gave the guy the opening. There's no excuse. He got beat up by random goon. A single random goon.

Yeah, that was my biggest problem with Danny in Iron Fist. It wasn't that he clearly didn't know how to fight, it was how fucking dumb he is. He's surrounded by people who tell him constantly "hey Danny whatever you do, don't do X because Y will happen." He then immediately does X anyway and of course Y happens. Pretty much every decision he makes is the wrong one. It takes him until the last episode of the series to stop trusting obviously homicidal villain Harold. He is by far the stupidest protagonist in MCU history, maybe even in all of superhero movie/TV show history.

Who is Sigourney Weaver supposed to be and why is she the leader of the Hand?

Those ninjas eventually became jobbers as the series went on. Reminds me of the ninjas on Arrow, at first they were tough but then they became Brooklyn Brawler status.
You ask two questions here, and they both answer each other.
With out watching the show, I find it hard to believe the Noboo and Madam Gao's of the world answer to her

I enjoyed Iron Fist ... a lot.

i feel so naughty and dirty. everyone i know has been slating it and im over here like hey... i thought it was cheesy and the character was daft, but it was pretty good fun?

jessica jones didn't click for me at all (i don't like david tennant in general) but i've watched daredevil, iron fist and am currently going through luke cage with the other half so i guess we'll have to give it another go.

You've got two good episodes of Luke Cage left before it takes a nosedive.

Ruh roh. I think we just finished ep6 last night.
cottonmouth just got jailed.

Cautiously optimistic for this. So far the only Marvel Netflix series I've enjoyed is Jessica Jones though. I've tried Daredevil and Luke Cage, they didn't do anything for me.

So it was smart of me to skip that show then

It's pretty rough, but it gives more insight into the MCU version of
The Hand
The second half of the seaon is actually better than the first.
Either that, or I experienced the effects of a mild form of Stockholm Syndrome and just thought it got better as I invested my time into it.

I want to watch it but I'm finding it hard to get through Iron Fist, I'm still on like episode 4 after all this time.

It's so hard.

I enjoyed Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and I tolerated Iron Fist. The trailer has me pretty hyped.

When I watched Iron Fist, I decided to watch DD season 2 to catch up on the hospital incident Claire kept referring to. Comparing how both shows introduced The Hand, I liked Daredevil's Hand far better. They were far more mysterious and deadlier than the gun-toting goons who never fired a shot in Iron Fist. Good to know it's Daredevil's show runner in charge of the Defenders.

That random goon was actually using the mystical martial arts technique of 'death by 56 cuts'

What is it with people saying Danny sucks at fighting? He's the only hero so far that hasn't been beaten. Even without the iron fist.

That's a new record, even for the movie side.

They're referring to the poor physical performance of the actor counting his steps through the choreography.

Yep. Too many cooks in S2's kitchen.

I felt this way too. It did the job that it looks like it was intended to do (Punisher, Elektra/Defenders lead-in), but it did feel busy.

Who would win in a fight between Daredevil and Iron Fist? No glowing hands / batons.

Danny. Spoiler content for the initial Civil War comics run:
Danny actually fills in for DD during Civil War. DD won't risk his identity being uncovered, and Danny basically says "I got you fam". It's actually kind of a fun reveal, but the point is that he can whip tail just like DD, and it's not really that hard for him.

You're right. I should have considered the people whose family have been murdered by hallways.
you should have considered that joking about a death of someone's grandmother just isn't good taste.
Of course! I remembered that, but I thought Harold was the son, not the dad. Silly me.
word yeah the son was ward.

also every time i see your avatar in the corner of my vision i keep thinking it is blue from blue's clues

It sounds weird but I kinda feel the same. I mean I know hype will reach insane levels when Avengers gets closer to release but the thing with the Netflix series is that they made me care more about the characters - maybe because they have a lot more screen time.

My man.

Matt and Jessica you mean?

Mike Colter was fine as a love interest but he's not that great as a protagonist.

Mike Colter has great chemistry with Krysten Ritter, which is why I don't understand why they are so hesitant story wise to pair them again and have them married. Maybe that happens on The Defenders? There were also a few standout moments in his own show with his ex-wire actress. On his own though, he does come off as pretty dull.

sometimes jessica jones wears a costume, it was hinted at in jj season 1

Nah, Trish suggested that she wear a costume way back when Jessica was thinking about being a superhero. Jessica flatly refused the idea.

Her never-changing leather jacket/scarf combo have always been her "outfit".

Speaking of Jessica Jones I gave Marvel Heroes a try recently and she was stood in Avenger's Tower and said "it feels so weird to be back in costume again"

Even though she was wearing her Netflix outfit of just jeans and a jacket.

Marvel have even made it the official outfit for her comic book counterpart now:

Trailer look ok to me, hoping it's better than what I'm thinking it will be.

Really looking forward to Punisher, the first few episodes of him in Daredevil S2 are the best Netflix/marvel have done so far with these characters.

Right of course on the show she doesn't wear the costume but I think I'm the comics she wore it and tried to be a superhero. She still possesses the costume on the show I think, maybe she will break it out one day.
I... I could use that.
Use it, then!
No, she doesn't. Only really in the events the precede her actual first comic appearance.
wasnt she trying to be a superhero in her first comic appearance?

I'm in, despite the spotty performance of the 4 protagonists. Really liked DD 1 & 2, enjoyed JJ, liked the first half of LC (agree about the nosedive), and thought Iron Fist was kinda crap.

Finn jones is trash and bland as hell. Colter and ritter are just wastemen.

The lighting is also dull as hell, looks like iron man 2.

So was Finn Jones actually alright as the Iron Fist character? I never ended up seeing that series because of the overwhelmingly negative reaction, but if at least he's good in his own show than we shouldn't have a problem with him among different creative staff, hopefully. I think I loved Jessica Jones and Daredevil season 2 especially more than most, so I should have a good time with The Defenders, I'm not going to defend the back half of Luke Cage though.

Jones was saddled with poor direction and writing, so I have no idea if he would have been good with better writing or not. I do know that he wanted to train more extensively, but the production schedule was hella shortened and so he didn't train as much as he wanted to.

Different showrunner, writers, with more interesting cast members to bounce off of, maybe Finn Jones will come into his own here. Maybe. Jones had very few moments to be charming, he was pretty gruffly angry and doing dumb shit most of the time.
