Marvel comics.... where to start!

Read some of the recommended issues, pay attention to the writer's names, look into the work they've done and go from there. Most writers have done lots of comic book work for different companies, you should read all their work if you enjoy it.

punisher max ennis
ms marvel
hawkeye
daredevil bendis (started reading this, whooo it's good)

no interest in avengers or thor tbh

i love spiderman and xmen but i don't think i can delve into that because i don't care for all these cameos and cosmic fuckery and universes and mind-swaps and shit.
Nah. Definitely check out Jason Aaron run of Thor 1-11 you'll love it

People use OP too much. Plus he was better than Hope, he could use powers in ways the originals couldn't. Remember when he Synched with The White Queen and got TK?

Synched with Chamber and could fly when Chamber couldnt, synched with penance and gained energy barrier powers (?!), Synched with spiderman (!!!) and picked up his powers, and could use his aura to hunt you down like a dog. You have powers you can't hide from that guy. Plus, he was pulling that Jubilee booty and wolverine didn't find out. Pretty sure that's a superpower.

And all that at "still a student, scrub tier" level. Marvel wiki is theorizing he could have made his synchs permanent, like Rogue did for a time. Dunno where they get that one though.

I don't use OP all that often, but Synch fits the bill.

Go with whatever character or team you find interesting. There's always that feeling that you have to start at the beginning, but you don't. In fact it's almost impossible when there's so much history. Just jump in and enjoy. You won't be lost.

I actually think it's much easier for new readers to get onboard with Marvel instead of DC. Marvel is a lot more noob friendly. DC is a convoluted mess, especially older DC. I've read random issues of DC and end up having no idea what's going on and feeling they made zero attempt to explain. That never seems to happen with Marvel. I've always felt a lot more comfortable with Marvel.

Except Batman. He rocks, but the rest of DC can rot.

Nah The Quiz is OP, every power you can't name? And she starts off with the, at least Synch had to be around people.

You're talking about the Jim Starlin/Keith Giffen stuff before the event properly gears up? I think those pay off, even if they're kinda boring. Lots of little moments in Annihilation proper nod back to that.

The Drax mini is where it starts to get fun. And the Nova mini is where you realize these are some of the most awesome comics around.

I'm talking specifically about the Thanos plot in the Kyln and the Drax mini. I found both of those to be pretty awful. I thought the Drax artwork was ugly and hated the Cammi and Dex characters. The Nova mini is great though and Cammi is almost an entirely different character in it.

FYI marvel unlimited is $0.75 for the first month (use gift codes so you don't worry about auto renew or buy multiple $0.75 codes to add extra months after the first expires) using the code marvel75

Yeah.......... this happens literally the day after I pay 10 bucks.....
But still fantastic deal, I've starting reading some ms marvel and it's better then I was expecting. Ended up reading hawkeye and deadpool stuff, very glad I signed up.

I really need to get into War of Kings, but it seems so scattered compared to both Annihilation events.

That reading posted on page 1 really helps though. Should get me started.

Well you can always pick up some codes to use after your first month ends (just cancel after your first month and use these codes afterwards)
