The secret wars Civil War was kind of fun, but mostly because they could go totally crazy with how the world had evolved. Wonder how they plan to draw people in here.
Also funny that they obviously try to get people who saw the movie, but those will only end up confused when they see Falcon as Cap and Steve being an old geezer.

Oh, goody, another Bendis crossover event. Those always play so well to his strengths as a writer.
Maybe this will be even more ineptly plotted than the original, with its bizarre, out-of-nowhere "the bad guys were really the good guys all along" ending and near-total disinterest in the moral and ethical ramifications of the moral and ethical conflict that the entire story was ostensibly premised on.

Didn't they just return to Civil War in Secret Wars? And didn't Hickman's Avengers have a central heroes v heroes plot that ended with Stark and Cap brawling at the end of the world? Why we gotta do this again? I mean, I know why we're doing this again... but why we gotta do this again?
Had potential but ended up being quite a mess, just like all his other big crossover events. Best one he did was Dark Reign and that wasn't even a proper event.
It was Civil War in an alternate universe where it never ended the way it did in the comics and was still going on years later. There was actually a big twist in that it ended up being

In what respect? Johns is most famous for Green Latern and the Flash which aren't exactly street level characters. If you just mean on a general level that they've both written a shitload for their respective companies and although they're both good writers they written so many comics that the average comic book fan has seen their flaws 1000 times by now and is kinda sick of them then yeah.
Well, the MCU is still a fairly new phenomenon so yeah it actually hasn't been relevant in comics till recently with the additions of Coulson, Nick Fury jr. the change ups in Avengers lineup, etc. I personally hope this doesn't become standard because it will just stunt creativity in comics (yea I know here comes the jokes). If they are really hell bent on making a comic series tie in to the MCU they should just start a MCU comic series ala Ultimate Marvel.

They're the big exclusive writers for their companies, don't really write much image work, and face a lot of criticism from fans but still sell truckloads.

It's not Mark Millar, so I'll look forward to it. Then again, I like some of Mark Millar's stuff.

Steve and Sam aren't on good terms either. The reason for this might actually be really interesting. I'm assuming that Cap will be going after Tony for what he did during his time with the Illuminati, but then again, they're working together in ANAD Avengers, so I dunno.

when the Tim Buton movies were popular. They also brought back vicki vale as a regular member of the cast for the first time since the 60s.
Strange as it is, Tim Drake was created to tie in with the movie too. The original script for the 89 Batman movie had Robin in it. When DC killed Robin the Warner Bros execs demanded that they have a new Robin in time for the movie. DC created Tim Drake and then Robin got dropped from the script.

I like both of their work! They are both good writers. I think it would be cool to see Bendis go to DC and Johns go to Marvel to shake things up. Bendis on Batman would be awesome.
Johns also wrote avengers for like 10 issues before he went to DC but that doesnt count

Annihilation was really good too.
Secret Wars has been excellent so far, despite the lengthy delays. I don't think it'll be better than Infinity after it's over since that event had two Hickman Avengers books flanking the main series.

To be fair, that was a cool costume though. And I never heard about the Tim Drake thing. I remember getting polybag/hologram Robin #1 but it just felt like they were introducing another Robin to me. I guess my problem is when they make real significant changes to comic continuity to tie in with the MCU which they have never had a cinematic universe to continually lineup with till recently. Comics invented the whole elseworlds and multiple universe thing so it just seems dumb to try and lineup the main marvel comic universe with the MCU.
