Marvel Heroes 2016 |OT3| Highway to the Danger Room

I really want Magik summoner buffs. I know the advice might be to just play Doom summoner, but I love his 3 damage types build way too much.

Also, I like bone wall.

Is the god of mischief recipe a rare drop?

Just got it and only killed Loki like 3 times ever

So I haven't played this game in over a year (last played like just before Magneto came out). Is it better to go through the story mode now for leveling? Last time I played it was get to 20 as quick as possible to do those random quests (I can't remember what they are called now) that just send you everywhere.

Yes doing the story mode should be enough.

You mean Legendary Quests, and it should still be a good idea to do a few here and there, especially if they intersect with your story quests, but the story bosses/missions give you enough to level comfortably.

Yeah it is, you're generally just boss rushing (maybe with one or two side things) all the way to Loki.

That should get you to late 50s in terms of levels. After that just finish off with legendary quests.

Any other huge (or even smaller changes) you guys can think of that would be good to know for a guy who's been out of the game for over a year now? I just looked at my Black Panther and his ability list seems pretty different (specializations for some of his abilities, don't remember anything like that).

I still don't have it and kinda need it. I've got about 30 Loki runes too. Really need to knuckle down and farm him out. Its a nice rune word, particularly for mental heroes

That's the general consensus. Though I don't bother. In normal midtown, it takes about 10-15 mins to get to level 20. Then I just chase the Legendary quests (the random quests you speak of)in red terms or midtown. Takes around 4-5 hours 1-60 and isn't as mind numbing as the story. That's with max hero xp synergy, and generally whatever event xp bonus is on

Takes the piss how long it takes for items to load on the floor in MM and ICP

Also, ranged or melee Cable? I'm loving Melee atm, but might change if that isn't viable for end game.

Anything is viable in the end game, just play what you like. There are things that are better, sure, don't get me wrong, but that isn't the same as being viable

Unless you are talking about high end raiding, bUT most of the content that you'll be soloing or grouping for you can get by with any spec you like

I booted the game up again after being away for a long time. Man I feel so lost now, lol. I am having the same problem I have every time I try to get into the game again, I don't know who to play. I have a lot of heroes in my stable from the first advance pack and a few founders packs, and I just end up jumping from hero to hero instead of focusing on one. I'd love to be able to get into end game, but all of the heroes have so many abilities that it feels overwhelming and I just stop playing.

What I really need is a suggestion of a Hero I should just focus down on. I have a level 60 Captain Marvel (how do I get a copy of the new default costume to actually use?), and a ton of over characters in their teens. I also have enough shards to buy any 400 shard or lower character. So my question is, who are the easier to learn Heroes that are viable at end game that I should be focusing on? All right I'll give this a shot off the top of my head. Bound to miss stuff though

- Team ups revamp. Now worth using out. they're actually pretty cool to have around.

- Achievments. Many many achievements. Some of which give you cool shit like costumes

- Cosmic Midtown and ICP. need to pass a trial to get in which is no joke. A decent Omega allocation and good (maybe not BiS) equipment is more or less a must. Does depend on hero though. Was considered 'endgame' until.....

- Danger Room!! Much anticipated with some nice rewards to grind for. Cosmic versions are currently considered 'endgame'

- Ultron mode. Level 60 only. Sort of a raid lite. 5 man with some wave clearing and boss rush, with Ulton himself at the end. 1 or 2 nice artis to pick up there. Its also currently the best place to get Limbo boxes. It's good to have some reasonable gear though

- Aforementioned return of Limbo. Another 60 mode. Basically a boss rush. Decent gear helps. Can only be run during Limbo event (Now!!!)

- Defensive system was reworked. Its a little closer to something like D3 now.

- Many heroes reworked. As you've found specializations are their new favourite thing.

- Doom released massively OP. Has since been brought back, but still around the top of the pack

- Get Magik stat. She's awesome

Not sure on your 1st point. Seems to take longer when you've just loaded into a new area. Also when there's a bunch of players around seems to slow it a bit.

I played Cable ranged with appropriate spec. I was still able to use a power cosmic, doops ecto and rune word, and Grenade from armor event. He has a power (forget what its called) that does mental damage when enemies come within melee range every 6 seconds. That keeps all the mental buffs procced, and then just melt shit with hyper viper beams and plasma explosions. Got him though the cosmic trial no issues.

I do hear his melee is equally effective though, but haven't tried

- edit - To the person above the correct answer to your question is play your favourite hero and don't concern yourself with getting to endgame fast. Everyone's viable and fun in there own way. Also, the more heroes you get to 60 the better xp synergy boost you get, so that may be something to focus on too.

Like Rhak says above, every hero is pretty much viable with almost any spec, so don't fret about that. But, some heroes are more flashy and fun to play and a few have been left behind. This is a ymmv thing too, not a fact set in stone.

I main Captain Marvel actually, and she has a couple of very good builds and is a very straightforward hero to learn and play. She can be an AoE ranged character, or a punchy brawler, or something in between. Much also depends on what kind of gameplay you like. (I don't know about her costume sadly, I thought you got a copy just for using her).

If you write a small list of which heroes you have, I can give you some pointers and tell you a bit about those I find more fun. If you prefer going endgame with Captain Marvel, then just try to set small goals first so you can start gearing her properly.

Small goals could be: get all her uniques for slots 1-5. Get a decent cosmic ring. Get a cosmic medallion. Get 4 artifacts that work well on her, don't necessarily have to be top tier either, there's plenty of good budget ones, for example: Advanced Metasensory Array, Ziggurat of Kargul, Kung Fu Training Sequence, Advanced Crimson Crystal of Cyttorak. Those should drop from any boss in all endgame modes. Get a legendary item and start leveling it up (you can find them in Odin's Palace).

If you are indecisive about what content to try, check your log (press L) and see your daily quests. They will point you to stuff you can do and where, and give you a small reward for completing each. There's also the influence quests, which point you in other directions.

It's normal to feel lost, even as a veteran coming back, but little by little you can find a good amount of things to do that will actually improve your characters when you do them.

If you want to jump back with a low level hero, then pick up the story where you left it. It's also a great place to level up now.

Is it boring like the last 3? What am I saying, of course it is...

Is playing the game boring? Wait of course it is, otherwise you would actually play it

Thanks for the info, that is all pretty helpful. Looking at my Captain Marvel, she is actually pretty decked out. I have all unique items except for boots, which are cosmic, the unique Demonband ring, and a cosmic black cat medallion. I have some of the mentioned artifacts, but they are pretty low level, so I suppose I could work on that. If I have all Uniques, what does doing high level content actually do for me?

As for Heroes, I have; Black Widow, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Colossus, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, Hulk, Invisible Woman, Iron Man, Juggernaut, Loki, Magneto, Moon Knight, Mr. Fantastic, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Rogue, Scarlet Witch, Silver Surfer, Squirrel Girl, Star Lord, Storm, Thing, Thor, Venom, and Wolverine.

So many too choose from, that I end up just not choosing, lol.

The Mega Pack is back and it's fkkn crazy value https://store.marvelheroes.com/wsstore_en_us/mega-pack-mk-iv.html

If you like this game and think you'll stick with it, the value here is great. It's a lot of money but man... I spent over $100 twice just for the two advance packs, and this is ALL the characters, with stashes, cards, all kinds of crap.

1 Random Team-Up Box

So are we getting random team-up boxes soon or what? Has this ever been a thing before this pack?

Cloak and Dagger

2 characters in 1. Each with individual life bars. Cloak has more health, uses defense as mitigation, Dagger has less health and uses dodge.

3 talent trees are Dagger, Cloak and Never Alone. Never Alone would be where the passives are, Cloak passive is the usual health / defensive passive, Dagger passive would be the usual crit / dmg passive.

Third Passive / active spell is one of the starters, active effect you switch between Cloak and Dagger control, the other goes on AI control doing a set of specific spells (like a team up, it wouldn't be the spells you spec into later). Points into this passive increase the damage if the not-controlled hero. No cool down on switching but it has like a half a second or 1 second animation. This means that Cloak and Dagger effects like vulnerability or dots would last longer than other heroes to make up for this, let's say 9 or 10 second vulnerability instead of the usual 8 seconds.

Never Alone tree has the flight movement spell also where cloak would envelop dagger and fly around. Come back to life talent could be cloak enveloping dagger when they die and coming back.

Dagger tree

If you want to go melee, you would spec more into dagger. Has a assorted of martial art kicks and whatnot, but also some ranged light dagger spells. Dagger signature throws a light dagger in the air which then rains light beams as aoe. Light dagger bouncing aoe applies vulnerability. Has a short fast dash. Cooldown Death from above move where Cloak "swallows" dagger and then "spits" her out crashing down. Has a spell where Cloak shields her from incoming damage and gives her a "thorns" type shield that damages enemies when they hit you.

Cloak tree

Cloak is the tree you would spec more into if you wanted to go range (but still using some Dagger spells like the light dagger vulnerability for example). Cloak has a teleport instead of a dash. Ground darkness aoe dot that lingers on the floor. Cloak can envelop enemies in his cloak as aoe and spit them out to apply weakness (like the kitty spell where she pills enemis into the ground). Cooldown Spell where he "swallows" Dagger and a bunch I'd light daggers spit out of inside him. Signature would be like Scarlet Witch sig where he insta kills every weaker enemy in the area by swallowing them into the void. Has a spell where Dagger heals him by shooting him with light.

Ultimate: Cloak envelops the ground in darkness and Dagger jumps in the air raining down energy daggers.

Whatever spec you choose you would be encouraged to use both. Be it to apply weakness or vulnerability, or to use that one range spell or that one melee spell from the other character. Or to use the teleport instead of the dash. Or if you are almost dead you could switch to the other (this might cause balancing issues I guess).

There you go Gaz, you can have that one for free.

Be sure to look at your equipped artis and make sure they play to your heroes strengths and damage types. Miss marvel for example can deal in energy and Physical damage, which makes an advanced AIM robot dispenser perfect (maybe a little rarer, but still easy enough to come by). Things like advanced metasensory arrays are universally good for any hero as it provides flat damage and attack speed. The Ziggarut, is a great utility arti, that gives crit and a teleport to any hero. Great for heroes with crappy movement powers (I have one on my Miss Marvel) Also, same thing with your ring slot. Particuarly the Demon bands. Ideally physical or energy damage bonus, and if you have + to attributes, you would want fighting, strength or energy as priorities. Also you can never go wrong with crit and brut damage rating.

As for uniques, its all about finding ones with good rolls. Ideally you want to look at the + ranks it gives you to skills and aim for the highest possible rolls, particularly if you use said skill a lot. Then things like better roles on crit damage, health etc need to be considered. Holding the 'alt' key over any item will show you the roll range along with the percentage that you currently have. This is a simple thing that was only added earlier this year and is an absolute god send for hunting for good roles.

Looks like you have a bunch of heroes to choose from! Just try and play your favourite, or maybe someone who's playstyle is diiferent (ranged to melee, or a summorner for eg) from who you are currently playing. I think chief among initial goals in the game should be getting max 200% xp synergy. This requires 29 heroes at 60. Now go!!!

That's pretty good. Just a note, artifacts are a set level, so you won't find level 60 versions. If they have "advanced" in the name (not all of them have it, but a few do), or they are something like lvl 45-55+ then you are good to go. There's a lot of them, the ones I listed are some of the best value ones, easy to get and work with almost anyone, but there are tons more, suited to different builds and playstyles. lox gives a lot of good advice above too! Damage types and type of ability (area, ranged, movement, etc) are a must to pick which artifact benefits your hero the most. You want ones that apply to all or most of your damage types and powers.

And there is always something to improve for your hero, don't worry about that. Here are a few things I would consider goals for any player:

Level your crafter, enchanter and vendors. In that order. You level them by donating unwanted gear. They will give you new recipes that will help you keep improving your gear.
Level up your pet. I'm assuming you are familiar with pets and the vacuum gear option. It's a great way to get some extra stats.
Get and level a legendary item. There are 2 versions now, but essentially a level 70 version will do. They can be bought with Odin Marks from the vendor in Odin's Palace. Gungnir is good for almost everyone, or Neptune's Trident if you are a summoner.
Start working on your influence missions (under daily quests, visit the Hammer Bay waypoint to pick them up). This reputation system will let you buy recipes to improve your gear as well as buy the top end Legendary items (which are more expensive).
With a few of these upgrades you can try for the cosmic trial to go into the Cosmic version of Midtown and Industry City Patrols. These modes yield even better gear and experience, where you can set your sights on the boss unique artifacts which are much more powerful. (cosmic terminals are also a possibility).

Also, always be mindful of the event that is running. Right now it is Limbo which you probably know already, considering you got a demonband, but there are others that give out specific currencies that you can use on special vendors for a lot of great stuff.

As for Heroes, I have; Black Widow, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Colossus, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, Hulk, Invisible Woman, Iron Man, Juggernaut, Loki, Magneto, Moon Knight, Mr. Fantastic, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Rogue, Scarlet Witch, Silver Surfer, Squirrel Girl, Star Lord, Storm, Thing, Thor, Venom, and Wolverine.

Yea, that's a lot. You really can't go wrong with almost anyone there. (I'd avoid Wolverine, and maybe Daredevil or Colossus, Hawkeye is a bit basic too but all of them have their fans.). OK, so I'll just mention a few that I like but keep in mind the kind of stuff you like to play (ranged, melee, summoner, spell heavy or agile, etc.

Juggernaut is a great hero. He has a lot of powers centered around movement, and that makes him stand out. I find him very fun to play and he's great for the free roam modes, where you just run around and jump into groups of enemies.

Loki is one of my favorites too. He's a summoner, and his illusion based playstyle is rather fun; you are running around and directing your illusions towards enemies and maybe even throwing some freeze spells. He's very flashy and powerful.

Psylocke is a total badass. Good mix between ninja style abilities and some spells. Basically, hack and slash and spell stuff.

Scarlet Witch is a monster. Just deletes enemies from the screen, sometimes literally. It's ranged based gameplay with tons of spells to choose from.

Thor is another powerful hero. Good mix between ranged and melee, and durable too.

Moon Knight and Mr Fantastic are a bit underrated. Mr Fantastic has really fun animations and is very unique, Moon Knight isn't as flashy but his power set is creative and will let you approach the game differently. I would recommend him for once you have a few heroes under your belt.

If you really just want someone to focus on, I'd go with Scarlet Witch (ranged) or Loki (summoner) or Thor/Psylocke (melee-ish).

If you see me online you can ask me stuff there too. =) Sometimes I afk for stretches so don't give up :P

That's such a stupid deal it makes me wish I found out about this game just right now.

Normally, I'd laugh at anyone considering spending $170 on any game and question their mental health, but as someone who has 1400 hours on this game (speaking of mental health :P), it's not hard to see the value.

I spent probably twice that amount for less than half of what's offered. There's a very interesting discussion to be had about "value" when something like that is offered. You see games like Dota or Path of Exile with models that are actually completely free and shrug at these packs, but sometimes it is easy to forget the path this game has taken. It's 54 unique character classes, 20 powers per hero, all with at least 2 different builds; characters like Doom with something like 4.

To any ARPG aficionado that's really something to take to heart.

I've been using Vision for the last two days and its true, he is quite powerful. The Cosmic Trial was pretty easy (though it took me 4 or 5 attempts because my sloppy play kept getting me killed by Skull and his Sentinels).
Some random was pissed off by the racket my hammerbot slave was making. lol. To be fair though, he does whir and stomp around a lot :D

Quicksilver team up whooshing around annoys me to no end.

Awesome, thank you. I started on Scarlet Witch before, but it was around the time they were doing revamps, so I didn't bother with her much at the time. Funny enough I only just saw Limbo in the terminal. I think I got the ring from a free chest that they gave me. I haven't touched the place yet, and I still have two more of the coffers from just a few minutes of running around Midtown.

I jumped into a green terminal to kind of kick things off (and it has these cosmic cube things available), and it kind of just melted under my power, so that seems very much under where I should be.

It still blows my mind how much this game has evolved since I first played it back in Beta. Oh, and I'm already in the Supergroup under the same name (Yoday). :)

I REALLY wish boosts and buff items went into their own inventory menu or page. I have so many boosts built up since launch that boosts and buff items alone take up nearly 1/3 of my inventory. Time to level characters I suppose.

I would never actually invest in any MOBA besides Dota because of the bad F2P models they have but this game is completely fair.

I would love if every hero was free and the money was made off cosmetic things, boosts and stash but lets be real, Gaz would die and I don't even think it makes sense because making heroes is a huge part of what their staff is working on. At this point I don't think they are that large of a studio.

The only thing in this game that is bad F2P is fortune cards, the rest is perfectly understandable.

Is there another terminal where you can save civilians besides Odin's Palace?

I've seen it mentioned, but where do you go to do a cosmic trial?

Nah, Odin's Palace is the only one. If you are asking for the daily quest you should be able to save all of them in the same one terminal. Just check every corner.

The cosmic trial access is in the lower right corner of Midtown Manhattan. You should see a gate there to access it. It begins right as you enter it, so be ready.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll go on a lower difficulty, I think some of the civilians may have died when I went on a cosmic run. Some were still alive, but nothing happened when I clicked on them.

Many of the civilians in the palace don't really count as save-able. If you have the Kurse terminal quest, the civilians you can save should be marked on your map, at least until you save enough.

Nah, they don't die I think. There are some kneeling down, and there are others lying down that look dead but aren't and there are several you can't click. This is pretty much where you find them:

marvelheroes20152015-kvprf.png

They used to be marked on the map, but they aren't anymore for some reason, at least not for me. The one in the bottom left doesn't show up right away, so I just start right, then go up and get them done by the time I reach the top one.

It's really strange since I checked all the ones that were marked by inky and only one of them gave me credit. I'll try again.

Took me 3 runs, but finally finished that shared quest. Thor is growing on me, the enhanced costume helps as superficial as that sounds. I should probably level up the rest of my level 50s to 60. Is there a fun Wolverine build anyone recommends?

Hmmm. Haven't played a tonne of Wolvie, but I plan on breaking him out again soon, to gear up properly and get through the trial. Limited aoe and one of the few heroes where you have to use a basic. He applies a tonne of bleeds so things that do bonus damage to bleeding like sabretooth medallions, and that 1 artifact I can't think of the name of. Sorry I can't help more. Once X-23 came out, I didn't have a lot of reason to play much wolvie.

Unrelated note, I just discovered the /played command last nite. Was probably better living in my blissful ignorance I think......

It's 54 unique character classes, 20 powers per hero, all with at least 2 different builds; characters like Doom with something like 4.

To any ARPG aficionado that's really something to take to heart.

My buddy tries saying spending that much on any game is dumb. At first I agreed, but then I realized just how much content their really is. Mainly the heroes, which blows any other RPG out of the water. Similar ARPGs have your typical Warrior, Summoner, Support, Elementalist/Wizard characters and that's it. With mainly one build each that is effective during the current meta.

This game has 54 heroes. When you think about it, that's absurd. It's truly a shame this game doesn't get more publicity. It's far and away my favorite MMO/ARPG. The best F2P model ever. I always end up coming back to it.

If I were GAZ I would develop a cross platform PC/PS4 much like Final Fantasy and Rocket League and offer $10 in G with the PS+ deal. This games community would explode.

They have to be working on porting the game to consoles, at least I hope so. I like to think the controller support is born from working on console versions. I agree though, this game launching on consoles in its current state would be huge. I have dropped over $200 on the game since launch, and even though I haven't played as much as I'd like to I still don't regret it for a second. This game is IMO the most fair F2P game on the market, and they nailed that feeling of not buying into it because you have to, bit because you want to. I was honestly pretty worried about the future of the game at launch, but Gaz has really done a remarkable job of making a damn good game and offering content at a pretty reasonable price along with just enough freebies to make people keep coming back.

I actually just found this a little bit ago, and when I tried to redeem the code it said I had already redeemed it. Would the costume just show up in my inventory after redeeming the code, or does it have to be retrieved from a menu somewhere?

I saw they're hiring a bunch of UI designers, and the few people I speak to at Gaz said they're not re-doing the UI on pc, which leads to the only possibility being a console version is coming.

I didn't even know we had a thread for this here. I have spent, an ungodly amount of my free casual time on this game for some reason despite it's MANY flaws. It's still fun to me.

Yup should do. Should just see it in your inv. I only found out recently too and redeemed it, last week I think, so it should be still working

-edit - i think you can see your history of what you have redeemed on your account on the the home site. Might be worth checking there to make sure you have, and if you def don't have it, I'd lodge a support ticket.

Hmm, it looks like the costume was added to my account when I logged in for the first time today, but I haven't seen the costume. I wonder if it was there but I didn't notice it and accidentally sold it or donated it to a vendor. Now that I think about it I should have gotten one for Scarlet Witch too, but I never saw hers in my inventory either. I'll have to dig around in my inventory just to be sure, and then submit a support ticket.
