Horrified it is, then!

I missed that run, I think I was out of comics at the time and not collecting anymore. You'll have to post gifs. For the sake of the thread.

Also, whoever that was that called us "old ass black dudes" made me think of this scene:

it wasnt that long ago like 2011 probably up on marvels website.

hehehehe

Iron man is fighting the superman-clone, who will probably be another version of hyperion.
Black Panther is fighting something that looks like a martian manhunter clone.
Black Bolt is fighting someone who will probably be the batman knockoff.
Reed Richards is fighting a green lantern clone.
Obvious Dr Fate clone is just hanging out in the background, with beast and dr strange sorta close by.

this is a very weird matchup.
I'm very confused. Who are those DC knock-off characters?

I believe in Jonathan Hickman.

The Illuminati are dealing with world ending events called Incursions. Incursions are the unnatural phenomenon where two earths are temporarily inhabiting the same position in the super structure of the multiverse. They can only share this position for a few hours until both Earths are destroyed along with their respective universes. The only way to save one Earth is to annihilate the other, though this saves both universes at the cost of one Earth. This keeps happening, over and over, as an infinite number of alternate Earths continue to come into contact with Earth 616 (the main Marvel universe). The JLA knockoffs are one of the few groups who have successfully defended their version of Earth from Incursions and now The Illuminati must deal with them.

follow the link its been an ongoing storyline in New Avengers.
Cool, thanks. I don't really read monthly comics but it sounds like it might be worth checking this out down the line.

I love the artwork in that second image.

bro that's almost 20 years old at this point. It would be like me saying Giffen's Justice League International is the definitive run. That's like holding up Kurt Busiek's Avengers run and calling it the gold standard for The Avengers.

It was a good run though
But the animated movies keep coming back to that roster, no? And if there ever is a JLA movie I'd expect the team to have those members.

Edit: oh just picked up that JL =/= JLA, my bad

has GRRM ever wrote a scene involving rape and a booby trapped womb?

Dawg, he had a WHOLE TOWN rape one chick repeatdly, then had every character for the rest of the book (and so far in the next one) just laugh and laugh and laugh at her. There is a long scene where two guys get in an argument over a woman, so another guy rapes the shit out of her in front of her dad, then gives him like, a penny.
Another character has his own son's wife raped by an entire barracks. For no reason.

Shit, I have to spoiler that last part because rape is a integral part of the story line and world building in ASOIAF.

I always said you can tell a lot about an author by how they write and what they write about. Claremount loves to be dominated by women, Millar is criminally insane, Ennis hates superheroes, and Kirkman only has 4 ideas period.

You're being awful nice giving Kirman an extra 2. I knew you were a big softie

The man did create Chronodile. But I was over him the 4789th time Invincible got beaten into hamburger meat.

Invincible could've gone down as one of the greatest limited series of all time. Alas, like most American TV shows, it overstayed its welcome so badly it's stinking up the joint.

that line up is hype street for adam strange alone
Bruh. Adam Strange, Supergirl, J'onn "Da Martian Gawd" J'ozz, Green Arrow, and Animal Man on the same team? DC is cool when they wanna act right.

Is Nu52 Arrow an angry liberal?
Nah. Now he's just kind of a fuck up. So much so, in fact,
that his pops orchestrated him being stranded on the island and had him hunted to force him to get his shit together.

That arc sounds pretty horrible... Like a cheap hunger games/battle royale knock-off.

the bad is whats makes them good sometimes. The late 80s-90s were full of weird shit.
I've been reading some of that older superhero lately and enjoying it. It gets weird in a funny, unpredictable way. Comics really opened up the creativity in the 80's.

iron lantern and spider boy were odd amalgam choices. id love to see those remixed

that sounds about right. but kirkman will ride 2 of those 4 ideas into the damn ground

Has DC done many Marvel homages? It always seems to be Marvel, referencing DC characters or having homages to DC characters. I know wildstorm/image had plenty with planetary, astro city, etc

Oh also we already had a fun crossover

DC did the Champions of Angor years ago. They were based on Thor, Scarlet Witch, Yellowjacket and Quicksilver.

Down to the core of the earth.

And Deadpool showed up.

Other than that Amalgam nonsense, most of the Marvel - DC crossovers are one-ups. Batman has a visit with everybody.

I see there are a few crossover miniseries...
DC vs Marvel comics in 1996
DC Marvel All Access in 1997
Unlimited Access in 1998

Anybody read any of this stuff?

Thoughts on Vibe?

why you gotta play me like that? besides he was dead by the time I was a serious reader.

Come on dudes. You are letting me down. I was expecting one of those "Superman is overpowered so he is boring" arguments. Followed by arguments that Hulk, Thor, Silver Surfer, Dr. Doom, and any number of other Marvel characters could beat this "overpowered" DC character. Yet somehow they are not "boring." Marvel bias defies all logic.

that's how the zombies are....

Shit that should never be debated again

Goku vs Superman

Thor vs Superman

Juggernaut vs Blob

Batman vs Captain America

Who is stronger Hulk or Superman

all the bolded mean a victory (a draw for Supes/Thor)

iron lantern and spider boy were odd amalgam choices. id love to see those remixed

god they had such an easy lay=up with Green Lantern/Nova Corps. I mean, it was right there. Green Novas or the Nova Lantern corps. whatever, and they went with Iron Man/Green Lantern? two colpetely different characters. it should have been Steel/Iron Man.

hey man. fuck Green Arrow.
