I'm i really seeing what i think that i'm seeing here
or ...?

They definitely need to give Black Panther and Iron Fist a shot. Even though in IMO, they are not third tier characters.

Second tier maybe (just because their faces arent plastered everywhere) but not third. If Green Lantern does well, Marvel should think about doing a Nova movie. Although 20 - 40 million might not be enough to make it.

MOON KNIGHT, DAMN IT.

You already broke my heart by announcing that Moon Knight TV series then never following up on it, Marvel. At least give me a movie. Please. ;_;

Make it so![/QUOTE]

YES. First thing I thought of and hoped for.

Also want Black Panther, Iron Fist, Dr. Strange, and Silver Surfer. That last one probably isn't going to happen for a long time though.

MORE PUNISHER MOVIES. Not that he's third tier, but he's never done that well. Apparently Marvel doesn't even care that much about how they do, because the Punisher deal is a long term one, that was signed before they really hit it big (and thus they don't make a lot of money of it). Granted in the end it rests with Lionsgate, not Marvel, but maybe this new plan will encourage them to work with Lionsgate in a manner that leds to more success.

Considering Paramount owns them now I don't think they give two shits about what Lionsgate does.

Yea, a white guy becoming the best in something from another culture will fit right in with what is popular at the movies.

Holy fuck.

I love that idea.

Wonder if they'll keep the same cast from the shorts and such.

Wouldn't be surprised if they did. Marvel's film contracts are like blood oaths. :lol

Cloak & Dagger is the correct answer. Search your hearts.
Damn it, everyone shut up about C&D-- my writing partner and I were playing around with a treatment for a Cloak & Dagger script last week :D

I guess I'll just ask in here..................Whats up with the film rights to the Fantastic 4 "universe"? Marvel have a chance at grabbing them?

Make tyler perry direct it. Boom money
Damn, after hudlin turned it into the shit it is now, having perry direct anything related would kill off the panther for me. Man do i miss christopher priest....

If they do Gambit, please don't use that shitty actor from Origins. God damn near singlehandedly ruined the entire film for me.

Fox has the rights indefinitely. As long as they do a little startup work on a new FF movie every 3-5 years, they can hold onto the rights.

These movies will be shorts, attached to bigger Marvel films, similar to Pixar's format.

So, for example, when you go see Thor, there may be a 10 minute Dr. Strange short before the film starts. These shorts will probably be Marvel's way of gauging which B-list characters can support their own feature.

If only Marvel did that earlier with an Iron Man short before The Hulk movie :(

Brilliant idea, indeed! If this is what it takes to get Moon Knight a feature length film, then so be it.
I always enjoy the shorts before Pixar films, so hopefully Marvel pours the same attention into theirs. Great way to promote smaller characters.

Update!

Marvel Studios may be getting into the short film business to help boost their already bustling feature film trade. According to a source close to Marvel Studios, the company is setting some of their staff writers to developing smaller characters in the Marvel universe for future projects. These projects, only proposed as short films at this point, could lead to certain ancillary characters making appearances in future features or even becoming popular enough to headline their own film.

This is, of course, a rumor that cropped up about a year ago. It was later said to be “just a rumor” by Marvel Chief Kevin Feige, but he also said in a live webchat that Marvel did “like the idea.” So it’s interesting to see it come around again. No definite plans have been made on which characters will be developed or even if a line of short films will become a reality. What is certain, though, is that two shorts have already been shot, both featuring actor Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson. These are to be included as special features on the Thor and Captain America DVDs and Blu-Rays that will release later in the year. Depending on how well these are received, more shorts featuring characters from the Marvel universe we haven’t seen yet could be ordered up. Of course, this also raises an interesting question as to where these shorts will run. This is where the conjecture really kicks in.

A possible model is for Marvel Studios to begin running shorts in front of their feature films in theaters a la Pixar. The future of Marvel movies could bring us one-off adventures with some very cool characters before the main attraction begins. Again, nothing is set in stone, but Marvel appears to be dipping their toes in the short film waters to see where it takes them. At time of publication, we have been unable to get a comment from reps at Marvel Studios.

Haha, just what Marvel fans have been asking for: more Agent Coulson.

Yeah, after the Avengers, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four, Punisher, Thor, Blade, and Hulk, the Marvel Universe has been pretty well plumbed.

Not every comic book character needs his own movie.

Well, to be fair, they were trying to hard to make most of these films a blockbuster success instead of making the story worthwhile to watch. I can see a niche with 3rd tier characters, especially if they're shorts or direct to DVDs... especially if they do whatever they want with these characters lol

A Fantomex movie needs to be made! He's a badass French techno-spy!

And of course my favorite gal needs her own flick (or at least a short):

I would love an Immortal Iron Fist movie.
This too!

They should just stick with making larger budget, direct to video animated movies. I find myself enjoying those more than the big budget movies any day of the week.

Edit:

id much rather see them make animated features like dc

Exactly.

Not every character is getting a movie.

There are tons of great characters and stories Marvel could use. Why shouldn't they?

Wasn't Kung Fu with David Carradine somewhat popular? Also, going with Iron Fist and Moon Knight could lead up to a Marvel Knights movie, right?
