Marvel is planning small budgeted films based on third tier characters.

I would LOVE a Moon Knight flick. I think he's a complicated character and could be portrayed as an effective psycho/anti-hero with the multiple personality disorder. At first glance, however, he appears to be a Batman ripoff so it'll never happen.

MORE PUNISHER MOVIES. Not that he's third tier, but he's never done that well. Apparently Marvel doesn't even care that much about how they do, because the Punisher deal is a long term one, that was signed before they really hit it big (and thus they don't make a lot of money of it). Granted in the end it rests with Lionsgate, not Marvel, but maybe this new plan will encourage them to work with Lionsgate in a manner that leds to more success.

I actually liked the first punisher movie, it was kinda cheesy and over the top in a good 80's action movie type way. Never saw the second.

Punisher also fits a lower budget pretty well, cause he isn't all superpowered up, but that also makes it harder for the movie to stand out. No huge special effects extravaganze will work in a punisher movie, you need some decent crime drama and some good gunplay and fight sequences.

I think they could fix some of the characters that got fucked up the first time around by putting them in a marvel movie not a third party movie. Like Deadpool and Silver Surfer, for instance, but outside of The Avengers, X-Men, and Spiderman, which are all being done already, marvel's cast of characters gets a lot more shallow.

Not every character is getting a movie.

There are tons of great characters and stories Marvel could use. Why shouldn't they?

they dont use good stories for their movies now, i dont see why that would change

They should just stick with making larger budget, direct to video animated movies. I find myself enjoying those more than the big budget movies any day of the week.

Edit:

Exactly.

i really want to write an age of apocalypse animated movie, doubt it would ever get made though

Haha, just what Marvel fans have been asking for: more Agent Coulson.
I really dislike this character, or maybe it's just the actor I despise. Either way, Marvel can eat their shorts.

The article mentioned such classic characters as Dr. Strange, Ka-Zar, Luke Cage, Dazzler and Power Pack. You gotta try harder than that Marvel. Cable, Silver Surfer, and Deadpool would be great but I'm guessing those are more likely big budget movies.

They're also not owned by Marvel Studios. :P

Cable and Deadpool are part of X-Men, Silver Surfer is part of Fantastic Four -- both properties owned by FOX.

Somehow, I can actually do without third tier Marvel character movies. But if this is what is necessary to get a Deadpool movie done, they have my blessing.

I always thought they were fools for not doing a second-tier X-men TV series. Throw in a rotating group of mutants you haven't seen in the films with cameos by the main stars. Maybe like "X-Force" or something. Call it "X-men: Blue Team" or something. Then you get all the soap opera drama of the comics that would work incredibly well on TV with the hidden villain who is revealed in the finale. Would be great and shows like Heroes have proven if you're fairly low key with the powers you can make a good effort at superheroes on television.

And I'm not even mentioning Mutant X, because that's completely irrelevant to this discussion.

I think I would make a wonderful JUBILEE.

You should probably provide a pic of yourself before people start to ask.

Peter Porker should be an animated short before Marvel movies in theaters.

Just sayin'.

Would be amazing.

I'm still pissed they cancelled Blade TV before they introduced Moon Knight. :(

So how is this different from all the other low budget piece of crap Marvel movies they've made over the years?

Or were those supposed to be the high end ones?

All those are Fox properties right now.

Make a good Spiderman movie or two, then give us a Venom stand alone. The comics where Venom was an anti-hero on his own were great.

Unfortunately, there is no hot enough actress on earth that could play She-Hulk, Jennifer Walters maybe but not She Hulk. A shame too with all the 4 wall/dimension breaking She Hulk does the movie could be very funny.

This is as close as we could get without CG.

my god, just make a She Hulk movie rated R and make sure she wears those outfits...sold.
