The art style seems bland compared to 2 and 3, the character selection isn't exciting me and they're already talking about DLC. As of right now I'm not feeling this game at all.

Chun...definitely looks worse compared to MvC3 and SFV alike. Morrigan turned out a bit better comparatively, but I'd say she looked much better in MvC3 as well.

Overall, the criticisms of this looking like a cheap mobile game don't really seem off base.

Heres the official press release for anyone interested

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced a Hulk-sized helping of new information for MARVEL VS. CAPCOM®: INFINITE, the highly-anticipated return of the revered action-fighting game series. Imagined and created through a shared vision between the two companies, the game will feature free-form 2v2 team battles integrated into a wide variety of exciting and accessible single player modes and rich multiplayer content for new players and longtime fans alike. MARVEL VS. CAPCOM: INFINITE will simultaneously release on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One®, and Windows PC across North America on September 19, 2017.

For the first time in franchise history, the Marvel and Capcom universes collide in a visually stunning and immersive cinematic Story Mode, as heroes and villains battle together to save their merged worlds from a sinister new threat, Ultron Sigma. A combination of the robotic foes known as Ultron from the Marvel Universe and Sigma from the Capcom Universe, this psychotic villain is obsessed with infecting all organic life with a cybernetic virus. History’s greatest gathering of warriors must now unite to fight back against Ultron Sigma and save their newly formed world.

Announced today, more new characters have joined the battle for survival against the forces of evil in MARVEL VS. CAPCOM: INFINITE including:

Ultron
Hulk
Thor
Hawkeye
Rocket Raccoon
Chun-Li
Strider Hiryu
Chris Redfield

Each newly-added character will feature unique abilities, iconic special moves and will join other previously-announced characters, including Captain Marvel, Iron Man and Captain America from the Marvel side, and Ryu, Mega Man X and Morrigan from Capcom. The use of powerful, game-changing Infinity Stones further deepens the customized gameplay and allows players to equip and unleash elemental in-game powers, such as Time, Power and Space.

In addition to the compelling cinematic story experience, single player Arcade, Training and Mission modes and vast multiplayer offerings will provide memorable experiences and infinite gameplay possibilities for players of all skill levels. More characters, stages, game features and story mode details will be revealed in the coming months.

Maybe they should've shown actual gameplay

"Story mode matters in fighting games! Where's my single player content?!!"

*Capcom shows story trailer*

"What's this crap? WHERE'S THE GAME PLAY?!"

Sounds about right.

Also fuck paying for dlc characters in fighting games

Is the time and effort expended by fighting game developers somehow worth LESS than other genres? That's a weird thing to say.

The Marvel side is probably gonna be pretty safe considering the likely MCU focus.

Doesn't look that great so far. Graphics are bad, designs look stale, not expecting much after SFV's sad excuse for a story, and DLC all over the place.

Sure is bizarre when NRS is winning the great face war.

I really doubt it will be as bad, but I hope this doesn't end up a redux of SFV's story mode in terms of presentation.

Preorder Details:

Standard ($59.99)- Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu Costumes

Deluxe ($89.99) (Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu) and two additional costumes – Gladiator Hulk and Command Mission X! The Deluxe Edition also includes the 2017 Character Pass, which gives you access to six post-launch characters – the first one being Sigma himself!

CE ($199.99)- FOUR detailed, interlinking dioramas from TriForce, plus LED-powered Infinity Stones and the Deluxe Edition of the game. Make some room on your desk before you pre-order!

Fuuuuck that premium edition.

Do I get or do I not......

So how long before an ultimate version is released? Will wait on this title based on SF V release and last MvC release.
Considering that we're getting a 2017 Character Pass, they're likely doing DLC instead of an Ultimate version.

I just want Miss... Erm Capt. marvel! Goddammit.
Yeah, Kamala Khan is Ms. Marvel, now. I wouldn't be surprised if she got in the base roster.

I don't think CAPCOM is going that route anymore. See SFV. The game becomes a "platform" where the base game gets a discount, but bundles are pretty much non-existent/always full price.

Compared to her SFV model? Absolutely not.

That's atrocious. A major step down from SFV OR MvC3 Chun-li.

Opinions and all, but I'm having a hard time with this. The art direction/style for SFV (and, well, IV as well) is just awful in some cases. I'd have to see a better shot of her whole body but this right here looks a lot better than she looks in SF IV/V, if only because she doesn't have giant, muscled hands and decent proportions overall. The art direction for this isn't super amazing but considering what it's doing and the constraints therein it doesn't look bad and in many ways looks better.

I guess I'm a less is more kind of guy.
