Marvelous Porting Wii Games To 360/PS3

Nope, that's not what he's saying at all.

I took it as more of a "The story is over" kind of thing and not so much "NMH3 will be on a different console" thing. But who knows?

I won't be buying Little King's Story, No More Heroes 2, Red Steel 2, Cursed Mountain, Muramasa, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Dawn of Discovery or New Super Mario Bros Wii in case they get HD ports based on someone's vague comment on where his company will be headed in the coming months.

How did you take it as that? He even says "To expand NMH to new possibilities, we need a new platform".

It's more "Hey, thanks for your money, here is a complete Wii game, which is a sequel to first Wii game. Now I want to go and make another great NMH game on another system; if you liked the two on the Wii, you might like these as well. After all, in the end they're just games right? A great game is a great game irregardless of system." But then again, I don't have my note pad with me, so your translation might be a bit more accurate.

wait, I did miss another part "And fuck Monster Hunster 3, yo. As a loyal PS2 fan, how the fuck dare they put the third game on the Wii. Same with God of War 3 and Halo 3. Fuck those bitche ass games, real talk. Didn't they think of the fanbase at all? Tenchu 4 is about to get got for it's betrayal."

Yes, but a great game is not worth buying regardless of system.
Really? Are we really talking about a purely hypothetical NMH3 game that is in the far off future when NMH2 still hasn't hit our shores and will not hit our shores for another half year?

Nothing that specific. Just saying that just because a game is great doesn't mean you have to buy it, especially if you don't want to play it on that system (going both ways there).

double dip. If it doesn't sell well in the US they wouldn't bring the port over.

Fixed, and that's totally up to you. If the possibility of it coming is worth that much to you, then I'd say wait to see if it's coming to HD systems or not.

Well, the game looks stunning even in Wii screens, so I can only assume that in 720 or 1080 (depending on the level they go for) it would just looks eye melting.

So I'd say it would be worth the wait.

I'm in AU anyway, so I'd be importing from UK if it doesn't end up here, as I did with Punch Out!!

Fuck you Nintendo Australia.

IF it is coming to HD consoles its going to have to sell enough on the Wii (In the west) for them to even bring it over.

Except the fanbase for the series is now on the Wii. Theoretically NMH3 would still be this console generation, unlike....

MH3 which changed over console generations. The PS2 is a dead system.

Hey you've helped turn this into a franchise and now were taking it some where else, thanks.
Well for one, Wii is not a person, it's a platform. What he's saying is that he's exhausted all that Wii has had to offer (and, from all I've heard about NMH2, it sounds pretty damn exhaustive*), and, if NMH2 is profitable and he gets the opportunity to do another one, he'd like to do it on a different platform.

Put your pitchforks down. For all we know he NMH3 could be on WiiHD, but the thing we do know is we have a great visionary designer who has been able to make his first sequel ever and it's guaranteed to be awesome.

*50 Boss Battles, better graphics, more models, stronger AI, Wii MotionPlus support, 2 playable characters, revamped overworld

You're acting like NMH3 is in development and is coming out tomorrow on the 360/PS3.

It's no different from previous generations where you only saw one or two games in a main series and then that series went away until the next generation. When that happened those developers weren't telling system owners to screw themselves, they just didn't want to rehash the concept and wanted to wait until a new system came along so that they could make big improvements to the series.

So, they've decided to suicide by way of porting underachieving titles to consoles that will also ignore them but cost a lot more to develop for, is that it?

I like how that in your little fantasy world Suda discussing the possibilities of NMH on another system = NMH3 for Ps3/360 confirmed, greatest betrayal ever, ect. Not, you know, any consideration of it being a spinoff, on a handheld or even that it might just be an idea's of Suda's and not exist at all yet ::shock!::

Somehow I get the feeling that you weren't nearly upset when developers talked about the possibility of bringing the Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy/Dead Rising/Resident Evil/Dead Space/Monster Hunter/Tenchu/Rayman franchises to the Wii.

Pretty much. I think you should take that promise ring and throw it in Suda's face. Tell him, "no, fuck you, Suda, I'm not buying No More Heroes 2 or anything else you make because I supported you for all those years while you were going through medical school and now that you've hit the big time you want to shack up with that 20 year old blonde?"

well, you can play silent hill upscaled on the ps3 :lol

NMH2 is a 2010 game at the earliest, NMH3 hasn't even begun concept design yet. There's a fairly good chance we'll be on the verge of a new console generation before the first piece of artwork is even done for NHM3.

And an even better chance that NMH3 never happens.

I really hope I don't have to click on a "Marvelous closes its doors" thread because of this.

Marvelous, just develop for PSP and DS or something.

Well it cant hurt to try. Wait, yes it can. Just like on Wii.

I don't know. While Suda51 has never been big on sequels before, he seems rather enthusiastic about the series as a whole. I'd say there's a 50/50 chance we'll eventually see a NMH3.

Maybe eventually, but with him having to focus on this EA project, I can see it being at least 4-5 years before we see it.

They might have fooled me into buying NMH on the 360, if I hadn't already played the awful original version already. Not even the 360 can save that game.

You are totally right, better to release on a system with huge software sales and attach rate such as the PSP rather than the 360 a system that they couldn't give games away for free on. Wait.

We are talking about Japan.

Perhaps, but not necessarily. People can lose interest or become preoccupied with other games in the interim when they keep putting off a purchase (oh, I'll just wait for platform X/price point Q). The software library for all three consoles is only growing larger and more competitive between now and whenever they manage to get ports out the door. Of course, Muramasa at least enjoys the distinction of being somewhat unique in that it's one of the very few games aiming for progressive 2D visuals, which might help keep it alive in people's minds. Then again, luke warm impressions of a Wii version could spell disaster if people are holding out who might have otherwise jumped at a launch copy. Also, a lot of people equate 2D visuals with cheap digital downloads on the HD consoles. I doubt they'll be releasing a Wii version at $50 then turning around at pawning it for $20, yet if they release it at full price there may be bitching about a late port from "inferior hardware" at less than budget price. Overall there just seems to be a lot of potential room for discontent.

Further evidence that fanboys are the real reason this gen sucks ass.

If Marvelous wants to get the real niche market they'd port to the PS2. SMT games are STILL there.

Sho_Nuff82 said:
Even if they were going to release it at $30, they'd STILL be better off releasing it on PS2 for 39.99 rather than sending it to die anywhere else.

Fixed.

Well, at least now we know what you were up to during your hiatus.

Otherwise, it looks like gamers are going to ignore another classic. Hopefully, at least, people love it and talk about it enough to make others pretend that they've played it.

Oh snap.

Gamespot is allergic to it and they may even use the European review as their own (that is, it was put online before the game is available)

We're definitely using the UK review as the official GameSpot review. We never have separate reviews/scores for separate regions. It came out in Europe first, so one of UK writers reviewed it for us.
