Marvel's Avengers: A-Day Prologue Gameplay Footage

Looks worth playing. Level designs and gameplay seem pretty simple. But switching between multiple characters is at least something new. I just want to hear more details about how long it is and what else is in it.

Despite the game looking great, I still won't be buying it for at least a month or two after release. To see exactly what they do to the game concerning micro-transactions.

I believe it's for in-game cosmetics, and characters.

Captain and Iron Man's suits look horrible. There's an abundance of great designs to choose from (or take inspiration from) and they settle for that?!

Thor also looks atrocious.

And that is exactly why I'll wait.
Selling a character at a reasonable price is ok. When I say it's ok it really should be for less than $1. I mean think about it, look at all the assets they make during the production of the game. Hundreds and thousands of assets, stages, character models, music, animations, sound effects, cut scenes, the list goes on. And they sell it to us for $60+, then they want to sell an extra character for $5+ dollars? The value isn't equal, it doesn't make sense.

Paid cosmetics flat out should not be in a $60 retail game. Chances are that the majority of cosmetics were made during the production of the game and then released later to make more money. Anthem is a perfect example of this where the devs showed early footage where there was lots of cosmetics and then the final retail version had barely any.

Its the first level, so that doesn't say much, but gameplay just seemed.. a bit "bare"? Maybe it's just me.

I wanna see gameplay midway. Hope it's good!!

Ultimate Destruction Hulk! I've missed you!

Graphics looked pretty good, but gameplay looked really bland and I still don't like those faces. Thor's voice actor was pretty terrible, too. Also, what's with Thor and all those high kicks? He some kinda ninja now?

The gameplay isn't really selling me on this. Thor's combat, in particular, was pretty basic. Enemy design is pretty blah as well. And yeah Black Widow isn't taking down Task Master that easily. Still willing to give this a chance though.

Obvious answer is you pay for the cool suits.

This game looks awful. Bland combat with even more bland characters and voice acting and horrendous level design. Not sure what you're all excited over. I'd rather play Mankind Divided than this...

Looks better than Spiderman.

We are seeing two completely different things.

Who wants to be a henchmen in these worlds?
My curiosity started with Batman Begins..... How brave do you need to be to try and take on THOR?

I appreciate how different each character's playstyle is. At least in the intro, swapping on the fly doesn't seem to be possible -- it's tied to the story beats. I'm guessing later in the game the characters are sent on separate missions, so the level designers don't have to account for all of these abilities being useful and interesting in the same space. Probably there'll be a team-up or two along the way, with the final mission bringing all the Avengers together again for another set-piece-heavy run like the intro.

It's not a bad approach, really.

Looks neat and I'll keep an eye on it but seems a little too "on rails" for me. Also just makes me want a game like this based on The Boys with the violence maxed out.

Looks like a lot of flash with no substance. Finished watching it and it left me thinking, "is that it?"

I dunno know where people are coming from thinking it looks great. Graphically it looks pretty sharp I guess, but running down long corridors into predetermined moments of action just doesn't really hit the superhero vibe I'd like.

I wanna be the hulk jumping vast distances and engaging on my own terms, Iron Man's flying sectioned looked awfully boring, like a lesser cool version of Panzer Dragoon.

If I'm a flying superhero, I wanna fly, I wanna fly when I want to, not just hover in a small arena and then fly at certain segments.

Game has potential I guess, but I'll temper my expectations.

Put me in the camp of missing wow factor too. Thats not hating on it. Graphically I don;t have any issues with it but I don't think it matches Arkham or SpiderMan. It feels like an 'Infamous 2' tier of game - which is perfetly fine, but the henchman/hero melee with special is kind of saturated now. While it looks okay, it doesn't make me want to play it, and I don't believe it does enough different with the ensemble cast to differentiate itself. There was probably more character variation in LEGO Avengers than shown here.

Of course this is just a prologue and I'm open to change. Hell, if I'm bored and have an itch I'd probably play through it but it doesn't 'excite' me or wish for it to be released.

Looks pretty good IMO but the game still has a lot to prove.
I can forgive how hyper linear and scripted it is because this just seems to be a tutorial mission designed to set up the story and give the player a taste of each character. So I hope the rest of the game features a more open level and encounter design with the occasional big setpiece moments.

Also, knowing this is built as a GAAS with microtransactions I'm still fully unconvinced. Will they just add characters and skins to play the story with? Will there be some separate horde/mission based multiplayer mode? Is it going to be another fucking loot game where I'm supposed to grind every mission over and over and over again?

Giving it the benefit of the doubt that following the intro the levels open up more, but point taken.

This
God, I'd want movie designs so bad
It's not that I'm too much used to their movie design, but more that their videogame one is horrible, this time around
It's solely for how much could cost tho, they'd have to pay lots of money to use their movie look, but they'd sold way more
Gimme IW Thor please 😢

Captain America is basically wearing a SWAT suit with stars and stripes. Looks like something someone with a tight budget would've made to cosplay. Probably one of the worst redesigns I've ever seen and shocking considering what the MCU and Comics have.

God damn this looks good and based on what I read here it's one of my most anticipated games of next year. Really hoping they don't mess this one up.

Characters and additional missions are going to be free. Only things they'll be selling will be cosmetics. I think it's a fair trade for more characters.

Why are people saying that the gameplay looks good? It looks unbelievably slow and clunky, especially with Thor. The same slow combo over and over again along with reeeeeally long and dull special attacks. Also the dialogue is shit. "Lucky for you I'm mighty!" like wtf

Oh ok, that's fair. I guess it all comes down to how much the cosmetics are. And what the grind will be to unlock them.

My gut says you want to be excited for this especially after the huge success' that were Batman and Spider-Man on the PS4.
