But how are they gonna resolve that plotline? James Gunn already said no Hulk in GotG2.

EDIT: Marvel fixed the stabilization issue.

Again, either someone gets killed or gets fucked up by Ultron to prove he's the tough asshole...
maybe Dr. Cho.

That'd make sense, given that Amadeus is an orphan & the possibility that Dr. Cho in this movie is his mother.

This.

I hate that killing off people is now viewed as the only way to add tension to anything. Nobody dies at the end of Empire Strikes Back (unless you count being frozen in carbonite) and that movie had plenty of tension.

Hear hear.

Listening to fans bitch about how tension is ruined in a movie because they know people will live is the worse complaint for these superhero movies.

It's like people even go as far as listing that they know there are sequels and talking about contracts as ruining the suspense for them because they know they can't die?

Wut?

Since when do people care suddenly so much about this? Were they on the edge of their seats wondering when James Bond will finally bite the big one? Did people decide to stay home from the Harry Potter movies because they knew he wouldn't die in the first film because there were so many books left to go?

How this this even become an expectation in fiction where the only way to add tension is to kill off main characters? It's so weird.

I guess it's some weird extension of the idea that no one in comic books ever stay dead but there have been quite a few characters that have died and stayed dead in the MCU.

Not sure if this was said already, but in the shot where Thor asks if that's the best Ultron can do, there's a big gap in the middle of the screen. Is it possible that Vision is purposely left out?

They've shown the same effect in at least three different instances now in different trailers.

It looks like a fun movie. I'll catch it. But Quicksilver looks like shit. It's okay. Not everything can be perfect. Maybe Singer set my expectations for the character too high.

You know what, I'm sure there will be at least one bigger Quicksilver set piece that is more elaborate and well conceived, not dissimilar to what was in DOFP. But the character pretty much only existed for that one major set piece in DOFP, and he'll be way more involved in Age of Ultron so it just isn't feasible to expect DOFP level of Quicksilver craziness every time he does his thing. They need some simple effect for his "normal" movement/fighting, so that ghosting thing works out okay I guess.

I think the Cap punch looks fine before the speed ramp at the end.

There's nothing tempting about this. I'll watch them all at home in my underwear while drinking beer and texting.

Yeah, I have no interest in paying AMC a bunch of money to sit in a theater for hours watching movies I already own.

I've always thought the only way to truly and completely capture the sense of a super speed based character is to see it both from his perspective and from the perspective of people the speedster is fighting. A good mix of something like what you see in the DOFP scene and "blink and you'll miss it" smackdown Faora lays out for the military in Man of Steel.

That said, as far as Quicksilver in this movie, I'm more curious about how he's written as a character than I am concerned about the special effects. Will we get an impatient dick Quicksilver like in the comics? Will he a more lighthearted character like DOFP? What sort of personality can be attributed to this guy to make him memorable and liked by audiences?

According to Joss Whedon, we're getting an impatient dick like in the comics.

I don't understand why people are still hung up about
Hulk being in Guardians 2. Didn't the whole thing start out with rumors of a Planet Hulk movie a few years back anyway? It seems like someone in the rumor mill just backpedaled after it was revealed Planet Hulk wasn't gonna be a thing and just said "Well maybe Planet Hulk is what Guardians 2 will be based off of then." The whole thing just seems baseless and absurd, especially since there's no real reason to be sending Hulk out to space anyway, and how the Avengers would even have the tech to do that.

Hulk ain't going to space guys. At least not anytime soon.

lol this looks fucking terrible.

Agreed. They've gotta do a better job of figuring out how to portray a speedster actually doing cool shit. Nothing so far has convinced me of Quicksilver doing any cool (or plausibly powerful) shit.

I think Man of Steel is a terrible movie, but as far as depicting speedster fighting is concerned, it's probably done a better job than DoFP or the Flash television show (though both of those are a lot of fun for their own reasons).

FUUUUU

Somebody gif that "All the Avengers jumping into action" shot. Now!

Edit:

I'll see myself out...

Dumb rumours. I remember when the Iron Man 3 after credits was supposed to be Tony flying out into space and meeting the Guardians.

I honestly never believed the first movie's $200m opening record could be broken short of like 10 years of inflation.

But damn... As hyped as this movie is... It still looks that much more fucking amazing..... Opening weekend is going to be at capacity on this one.

Looks pretty good. I might actually see this in the theater, something I rarely do. I'll have to wait a few weeks though as I get major panic attacks sitting in packed places.
