Omg, it has the same rating as the Daredevil movie! Ben Affleck vindicated!!!

The best news here is that we're looking at full 50+ minute episodes like proper cable programming, instead of 40 minute network TV shit. 13 full episodes of that.. mmmm.

Just posted on their Facebook. Absorbing Man reference/AoS? #ItsAllConnected

Be careful of the Murdock boys. They got the devil in them. #Daredevil

Do we have a production/discussion thread for DD?

edit: searched for other threads and was too slow!

Isn't MCU Creel like, a decade too young for that to work? Assuming that flyer is meant to be twenty years or so old. Maybe his powers slowed his aging.

But still, cool to see some connections.

Ha, I immediately tried to do the math as well.

It can work if he's a young boxer and Murdock was an older one. (Assuming it's a little over a decade old.) Twenty is definitely out of the question.

Maybe whatever caused Creel to be Absorbing Man slowed down his aging?

I think it's ambiguous enough for it to work. Creel in SHIELD didn't look THAT young but also not middle-aged or anything. Some suspension of disbelief is needed but hey, we can just say his powers make him nice and healthy.

Oh, it's not a huge continuity issue or anything. I just enjoy nitpicking this sorta shit. :P

Either that, or it's his dad. I think it would be cool if he ages real slow though. Notice how they didn't explain anything at all about his origin on AoS.

They said he used to be a boxer.

This works if Creel was 17 or 18 and it was the fight Jack was supposed to throw but ends up winning. Matt would've been 12-14. No need for age shenanigans, just a thing boxer vs. an old one. It was Creel in the comics.

Yeah I guess the age works. I was thinking he was a lot younger but it definitely works if Jack is an ageing boxer at the time.

Definitely. This is probably a "20 years ago" fight with a 40+ year old Jack vs a young and up and comer. Matt will fit the age. Shit only doesn't make sense if they have the same actor for Creel or have Matt be like a 6 year old or something.

Either way, I love the synergy. Hopefully Creel is already powered up, but not too sure when he got his powers again in the MCU.

So is Creel in Daredevil the Absorbing Man from Agents of Shield or is it someone else? I assume the boxing fight is a flashback.

I forced myself to rewatch the 2003 Daredevil last night. They do some things right, like the general tone and all the Hell's Kitchen stuff. The over-reliance on shitty CG really kills any momentum though, and Affleck is just straight up terrible as Matt Murdock. You can tell he's trying really hard but that somehow makes the performance even worse for me. I feel like there was good movie in there somewhere that got buried under a monumental pile of shit.

Yeah, I think it's a mistake to advertise that version of the costume in mainstream outlets outside of screengrabs. There's no way they're going to make it look good in promo shots, because the suit isn't supposed to look good period lol.

I like how you can clearly tell how coked up Colin Farrell was back then lmao

It's an ugly shitty movie but I liked the kingpin and bullseye in it tbh

It's odd that they would put that costume on the cover if he's not wearing it for the bulk of the season (unless I misunderstood). Bit of a blah cover that way. I understand Marvel wouldn't want to reveal it on this magazine's cover, but I think they could've gone with just Murdock or a different pic of the costume in that case.

I am of the belief that he will wear that black costume for the bulk of the season. Probably for 9-10 episodes. And then we get the iconic red classic for 3-4 episodes.

Which I will be fine with if he gets a second season after The Defenders.

if they had replaced Ben and Jen, (I love her but you need a greek) took out the godawful playground scene/evanescence and had their costumes -- particularly Elektra -- more in line with the source material, I think it would be decent.

If this is based on Man Without Fear, then he should be wearing that one most of the time.

Heck, we might not get the actual costume until the very last scene.

The movie MSJ directed is bad.
The movie MSJ wrote is pretty good.

I wonder when they'll kick up the marketing machine for this one. We got a trailer but nothing else since then.

Only 46 days left!

True, but I thought it's only semi-MWF-based, and I thought IIRC I read that he's donning the real costume during the season.

Extended trailer mid-March I'd guess. I don't think Netflix does a ton of marketing though. Web ads I'd think would hit around then. Theater ads are a solid bet. I don't think you'll see TV ads for it. ;) Netflix will put it on its mailers and promote it heavily on its site.

Er, Netflix does air TV ads. They've run a couple Daredevil teasers during Agent Carter, and there was a House of Cards S3 promo just last night during the Oscars.

Oh, for real? I had no idea. Thanks for the info. Scratch that, then. Color me way out of the loop. I just presumed networks wouldn't air ads for what is essentially their competition.

Maybe his brother is the boxer? He took on the name after he passed?

Also, the actor is what? 36-37? He also looks like he could be 40-45, it's more believable then 25-30 year olds playing 16 year olds on TV shows.
