The crowd went nuts after Hulk beat the shit out of Loki so for those who didn't hear, Hulk Said Puny God...

I also had to tell my friends. The entire theater was ROARING.

I don't think I've ever seen a crowd laughing so many times and so loud, yet so sincerely. This film tickles you in all the right places.

I don't really know why but Coulson was one of my favorite parts of the movie. card scene really got me.

Tony's drapes line was my favorite of the movie.

No black bars, just lots of jucy spoilers.

Just don't posts gifs, because the women at the 34th St Hearld Square subway station is not an authorized distributor.

I'm interested in your impressions

Had a mother with an infant child sitting next to me. At one point she started breast feeding him. Is that something that people do now in public? Disgusting.

What's disgusting about it?

I fucking loved it. My wife even enjoyed it, she loved Loki. I'll actually type up detailed thoughts after testing our new grill out. In short though besides a few action scenes where someone the hit zoom on the camera too much...I'm having trouble thinking of others.

Yeah the fight scene with the two brothers at the end - I couldn't see anything but their faces. It was bad

90% chance that scepter thanos gave loki is powered by the mind gem and it will be a plot point for avengers 2, or even thor 2. Thanos is gonna want that shit back.

I also expected the infinity gems to be nerfed as fuck.

0% chance this is the case.

1.) the gem in the scepter was powered by the tesseract and this was made clear several times in the film. The gems and the cosmic cube (which is what the tesseract is) are completely different.

2.) The infinity gauntlet is sitting complete with gems in asgard, as shown in Thor. Loki hadn't been to asgard since getting cast out, and you can be certain the chitauri hadn't either. And if they had knowlege of where the gems are and the existence of the infinity gauntlet as well as access to asgard- why waste time going after the cosmic cube on earth? It doesn't make sense.

3.) the mini arc reactor in iron man's chest completely nulls out the effect of the staff when loki tries to use it on him. you think this would be remotely possible if loki was running around with the mind gem?

we won't see the gems or gauntlet in Avengers 2 for many, many reasons.

What are the chances of Red Skull coming back for the sequel as the main villain with Thanos continuing to be a manipulator, using Red as once last chance for someone to do the work for him. He fails, of course, and the third Avengers Thanos is the main villain?

Not supposed to bring non-theatre food in.

Regarding end credits, I din,t walk out, it just didn't show that scen, I presume in the April release.

are you overseas? someone in the OT gave the impression that the second post credits scene was US only.

One thing I don't want is Thanos in full presence on Avengers 2, for me the perfect scenario would be introduce him in the rumored Guardians of the Galaxy movie searching for the infinity gems, and the A2 movie sending a powerfull galactic team to do the same in Earth, ending with Thanos in posession of the 6 gems and the gauntlet, and that way we could see an epic Infinity war movie

I,m not overseas, you are :p..yeah, I'm in New Zealand.

Yeah, not on here. I wonder if updated versions here will show it or not. Will go see again at some point. I was just mentioning because a great deal of people won't have seen it, so the assumption that people walked out too early is presumptuous.

I'm pretty sure Thanos will go after the Tesseract/Cosmic Cube in the sequel. Just like he did in the comics before the Infinity Gauntlet. And the Ultimate universe, IIRC.

I think they just need to tie him into Asgard. Like he assaults Asgard, fucks shit up, takes the gauntlet, then goes for Earth. Maybe have him kill Odin or a few others in the process to make him a more credible threat (as if he needs that).

Have him show up on Earth (or hell, send The Avengers to Asgard. Maybe Thor calls in a favor), and have The Avengers, Warriors Three, etc, and maybe even The Destroyer trying to take on Thanos.

The final part of the battle? Thanos has fucked everyone up six ways from Sunday, and Cap is the only man left standing, Infinity Gauntlet style. He tries and put up a fight, but in his last desperate act he actually picks up Thor's hammer and smashes the Infinity Gauntlet and kicks Thanos's ass from here to right over there. Audience goes nuts.

And I think if they use the time gem stuff like undoing all the damage it will feel like a copout in the movie. Yes, they did that in the comic, but it would feel cheap in the movies.

Who was the waitress who got two scenes in the movie, first in the restaurant as the alien portal is opened and the aliens invade and the second scene when she gets interviewed on the news, I just thought it was so strange that they focused on her so much

A really cool scene that I don't see get mentioned a lot was the Widow interrogation with Loki. Very sharp dialog exchanges, and Hiddleston really killed it on the delivery. Loki got something personal out of BW, flipped it on it's head and attacked her with it...only for BW to reveal it was all part of the plan.

Good stuff.

also, they got away with "mewling quim". Good shit, Whedon

Thanos is so awesome that just the speculation of what could be gives me a nerdgasm.

EDIT: I still think that they should involve him in the GotG movie, he is after all a threat for all the universe and not just a few worlds, that and I want to se Cap and Nova together :D

the question that remains:

what heroes will they introduce from the universe before The Avengers 2? I think it's fair to assume the Fantastic Four will play a part in it...but who else? X-Men and Spiderman are obviously out.

What heroes would you like to see join The Avengers and the Fantastic Four in The Avengers 2?

He's Marvel's Darkseid.

A space god who literally is trying to court Death. Death is personified by a female in the Marvel Universe, and Darkseid wants to kill as many living things as possible in order to win her affection.

Except Thanos actually does shit and wrecks shit. Depending on how he feel.s

I've just been playing that "That's my secret, Cap--I'm always angry" line and shot over and over again in my head. Not sure if anything is going to beat that this summer.

Regarding Thanos, my wife was asking who he is, besides giving the wiki link...which is going to be too complex, can someone explain him in a few sentences?

Badass Digest has as reasonably concise a summary as can be expected for something this loopy, I guess:

http://badassdigest.com/2012/05/03/...s-that-guy-at-the-end-of-the-avengers-anyway/

Short, short version: Thanos is a godlike being and one of the most powerful entities in the entire universe, who is in love with Death. Like, the actual incarnation of Death. (Who is a girl.) Efforts to impress her include wiping out half of all life in the universe.

I know.

And also, in Thor 2, I want fucking Beta Ray Bill.

A little too out there, I think. Hercules would be easier to do though. Establish Olympus as a neighboring realm to Asgard (with similar links to earth, thus the myths) maybe a slight conflict between the two in Thor 2, Draw some olympians in for the battle with Thanos in Avengers 2.

Except Thanos actually does shit and wrecks shit. Depending on how he feel.s

Yup. Thanos isn't just a huge threat (like Galactus) he's a CREDIBLE threat that follows through and the Galaxy is scared shitless of him. He's beaten the holy hell out of some pretty heavy hitters, and is the best strategist this side of Doom. I'd LOVE to see what whedon does with him.

the way he laid there in burial position was the stuff of LEGEND.

and that smirk when Cap told Hulk to smash. priceless.

nerdgasms far as the eye could see.
Yeah Tom sold it in way that was so amazing, especially with e groan. Like I said my wife really loved Tom, as she loves villains and especially villains played by English people. Kenneth B's Iago is one of it favorites, so I told her based on that she would enjoy a lot of it.

I was wondering why the mouthpiece thing on Loki when Thor was taking him back?

Spoilers from the movie, and speculation on what we want in a sequel.
Speculation and discussion of future Marvel Studio projects, movies and sequels (+ how they tie into the Avengers), should go here; http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=472194

I don't really see the need for this thread tbh, when we have the MCU one, but either way that thread is for speculation and spoiler discussion of future stuff. Lets keep this one to pure Avengers 1 talk.

I loved the after-credits. Sitting there eating silently was hilarious. Robert Downey Jr. Killed me. XD

So why can Cap use Thor's hammer? Because he's all virtuous and noble?

not exactly. Superman can't lift it.

It's basically a measure of whether one is "worthy" to lift it- some kind of combination of a warrior's soul and skill, plus virtue. Superman might be virtuous (like cap) but isn't a warrior, per se. Wonder Woman could though, so draw your comparisons there.

The list of people who qualify is REALLY short- Rogers, Beta Ray Bill, Wonderwoman (in a crossover), Spiderman 2099, and Eric Masterson are the only ones I can think of.

Is the avengers logo intentionally bearing resemblance to the Fantastic 4 logo?

nope. coincidence. that's the logo used for the comic. Marvel Studios/Disney doesn't have the rights to use the FF right now anyway, if I recall correctly.

yes spoiler thread, time to gush:

HULK SMASH PUNY GOD

he's adopted

Best movie ever.
