Nah, perhaps it was worded a little too dramatic. I live in the Netherlands, have seen plenty of people smoking (a lot of) pot, but worst-case scenario I witnessed is people ****ing up a year at highschool or university because of smoking waaay to much pot. No big deal, everything worked out fine in the end for all the persons I know. But a close friend of mine is a social worker working with families with addicts, and a lot of those people's stories tend to start with the light stuff. So I think you could say that for some persons (mostly persons in weak social environments, low education levels, low income, crappy neighbourhoods) it starts with weed and/or alcohol and then gets worse. Then again, it is not the weed at that time that wrecked the lives of those persons, it's just were it started. I hate the fear-mongering around pot "(stuff like "everyone who starts smoking pot ends up a crackhead!" - lots of U.S programs are throwing this stuff around it seems) but for some groups it certainly seems to be true. In the Netherlands, at least.
