Mary Jane won't appear in ASM2

I feel like I'm the only one who enjoyed ASM :(

I prefered it to Raimi's, by far.

Same here. I know people Call him Spider Douche but I found the Ultimate character to be very similar to ASM character. Also, characters change in comics all the time and I'm not sure why we can't let the movie version be a bit different than the comic version.

I don't know if that's big of a deal. She was only set for a few days of shooting, so whatever her role in the story, I don't think it was that large.

Having said, the first ASM cut out whole sections of storylines and characterization for the sake of...something...so it probably is fair to assume the worst here too. :lol

Something that probably won't even be mentioned in the second one.

It's pretty absurd that the biggest selling point of the reboot - the whole thing that Webb, Sony, et al. were trumpeting as this reason this movie should exist so soon after Raimi's movies - was heavily cut down so that the "untold story" could be spread out over three four films.

Say what you will about the Dark Knight trilogy, but it's moves like these that make me more appreciative of Nolan's "do everything you can in one movie" approach over this "save everything for the sequel(s)" mentality that's ruining stories left and right.

Cutting out Mary Jane? Can they also cut out all the Matrix/Transformers sound effects that made no sense whatsoever?

The ending to ASM kills the movie for me. Pete knows and believes that being with Gwen is putting her in harms way, but does it anyway. It's terribly on-the-nose for anyone who knows the characters
or has read any spoilers based on Emma Stone's wardrobe for the sequel
, and runs contrary to the great power, great responsibility core of the character. I haven't seen Raimi's first movie in awhile, but my recollection is that he handled the same issue in a way that was more true to the character I grew up with.

Yeah, pretty disappointing. If they mention something plot wise, they better develop it in that film, this isn't Desperate Housewives.

Or if they want to, do as Raimi did. He put Connors in 2 & 3, but he was just a little nod, not integral to the plot (or at least there wasn't an entire story line around him in those films). That's the way I wanted to see MJ in ASM2.

So Sony are retroactively refitting a film already in production to fit into a proposed four film arc the latter two of which were only just released announced?

What could possibly go wrong?

Everything. I have zero confidence that they can pull this off.

he married mj in the comics despite the same misgivings. peter isn't batman or bruce wayne. he always wanted the same everyday things normal people have. it's how those two sides of his life interact that make him so interesting and why so many of his villains end up being his friends or interacting with his loved ones in some way.

I just thought about that, too.

So far we're only looking at Emma Stone and Sally Field.
And the girl rumored to be Felcia Hardy

Yep things change during production. I assumed she'd have a small "I'm here" introduction in the sequel anyway and nothing substantial. But of course this means the movie is going to be terrible and facing issues and blah blah blah

Especially since they just announced 3 and 4, there's plenty of room for her.

Nailed it.

Weren't there rumors of Black Cat too?

Aha! I was hoping someone would say otherwise. But why is she needed?

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY PEOPLE

Emma Stone can play both roles. Just get her to dye her hair red again and be done with it.
We should start an internet petition.

Kinda ballsy basically shooting scenes for the following movie while the current one is still in production. Does anyone do these? Or are they expecting crazy child actor growth spurts from adults now that they have to do this?

I haven't followed the production much but I do know they are aiming for Sinister 6. They might want to go full stupid and bring in symbiotes/Venom for massive clusterfuck potential.

We totally should. The new Mary Jane is kind of unattractive.

Why are people acting like minor characters don't get cut out of films all the time? She shot barely anything, I doubt there was any major plot points in her scenes, just an introduction.

Oh wait I forgot, ASM is the worst thing ever. Ignore me.

Can't quote this enough... Let them finish the thing and put a trailer out first before everyone hates on it. I liked ASM more than Spidey 1 and 3, and in some ways more than SM2.

Emma Stone is way hotter anyhow. I'm glad they are cutting a character, the fools who made Spider-Man 3 could have learned a thing or two.

The hell? Haven't you noticed the amount of characters in this film?

So far we have, Rhino, Electro, Harry Osborn, Norman Osborn, Toomes, and a rumored Felicia Hardy. On top of characters from the first film.

This is what I have been saying they should have done in Raimi trilogy for years.

Although it probably would have been wise to show a scene where MJ is getting on with her life in some fashion. I guess you can do that in the narrative.

After credits scene. Or they were already filming part 3 while doing part 2, to have continuity without cutting Emma Stone a new deal

And The Dark Knight had Batman, Joker, Two Face, Gordon, Alfred, Rachael, Fox, Lau, Gambol, and Scarecrow.

Not every character in this movie will have tons of screen time or play a huge role. Shame on them for setting up future plot lines and giving winks to the fans by using established characters. If anyone thinks Toomes is going to done a Vulture costume in this movie, you're fucking crazy. He'll be no more than what Lau was in Dark Knight.
