Mass Effect 2 Sells 2 Million Units In First Week

I could be wrong, seeing as this is over the internet and all but you seem to jump in really quick to say stuff like that. Comes across as though you really want the 360 to crash and burn. Given your past do you find it hard to believe that people even those not on the hunt for "trolling" might thing you are a PS3 fan?

I don't care if it's on 360. More people can play it if a game is on both consoles and PC.

Mass Effect really has become PS3 version of "MGS4 on 360" hasn't it?

Of course, it has better odds of actually happening.

Sans gibberish story-line, yes.

Just beat ME2 (PC) and mannn, what a ride. Fucking fantastic game. My only complaint was the odd moments where I'd run into a wall, then proceed to run UP the wall and get stuck, having to reload to an earlier save. Happened three or four times. T'was lame. You 360 ME2ers see this problem?

TBH, I could see ME staying 360/PC only at this point. Doesn't MS have the rights to the first one anyway?

Haha, actually I ran into that bug at the very beginning of the game during the facility escape. Got me worried for a second there that the game would be unstable, but that was the only time it happened for me during my entire playthrough. PC as well by the way.

Did you even read the full conversation? Someone ask if it was just on 360 and if it was coming to PS3 as well and Kagari just said it was on PC as well. Then it got stupid when someone claimed it was 360 exclusive.

Drop it.

Wrex isn't in ME2.

Not on your team but he is in the game dealing with his own stuff, I had a mission where I had to go talk to him because he was the Urdnot leader. I think the rest of the crew will be back for ME3 though, Ash, Liara and Wrex.

I'm not sure if that deal is still in place or if EA bought the rights from them when they picked up Bioware. The way folks from Bioware keep dodging the question of a PS3 version makes me think it's probably coming, though.

Very well deserved!

A bit too early to call it GOTY 2010 but I can say that if it were released last year my GOTY 2009 choice would have been a lot harder.

Regarding the streamlining they basically took everything I liked from the first game and scrapped everything I hated. I actually wish more shooters had RPG dialogue trees and choices, easily the most enjoyable part of the first ME.

I could see them coming out with a Mass Effect trilogy Blu-ray a few months after Mass Effect 3's release on the PC/360. How awesome would that be?

:lol You don't say. Have people seen the list of games coming out in 2010?
I reckon, one of the busiest years I've ever seen. However, unless all the games turn out to be mindblowingly awesome then ME2 and Bayonetta are easily contenders.

Well, I totally agree on the very high quality of ME 2 (haven't played Bayonetta) and it might very well be the mainstream GOTY come the end of the year. Personally, I have very high hopes for:

- Fallout: New Vegas
- Aliens versus Predator
- Mafia 2
- Red Dead Redemption
- Alpha Protocol
- Crysis 2
- Zelda
- Metroid: Other M
- Elemental: War of Magic

2010 have the potential to be an outstanding year for gaming :D

My favorite game of all time, not even close and it's been a few days. Just finished the last mission after playing 6ish hours straight and didn't even realize it. Amazing in every aspect. Hope it sells amazingly well with long legs.

I think actual reason of people quoting her is different. It's not PC version is better or not. Of course PC version always wins. There is no contest.

It's more like a desire of PS3 fanboys to downplay Microsoft exclusive games. They ignore the fact that the PC versions still run on Windows.

I personally don't care on which console the game is released. I own both. I do think however that ME will come to the PS3 sooner or later. Microsoft obviously isn't capable to keep exclusive 3rd party games.

I'm fine with it. I wouldn't double dip but I'm fine with it.

I guess you need to play ME1 to get the story? How was the combat in that game? Also generally how long is each title to play through (minus optional side quests)?

I think the absolutely best part of Mass Effect 2 is to see how your previous adventure affected the world you live in. Choices you made make a huge difference and almost every little thing has impact of some sort. Besides it's a pretty damn awesome game. If you don't enjoy the gameplay just play it on casual and rush through the main quests which takes probably ten hours. The game is very cheap nowadays so it's a must play before the sequel.

Besides the default Shepard is a big jerk. Paragon FTW.

It's good to see a game that isn't either a big dumb shooter or a Mario game selling well, it's even more pleasing that the game is superb and worthy of every bit of praise it gets. Well done consumers. *pats self on back*

I blew through ME1 this week in about 8 hours. Granted, I wouldn't recommend first time players to go through it that quickly (you'll miss a *lot*), but it was my third playthrough. I lost my first set of saves to RROD and a botched GT recovery, and my second playthrough was with a complete bitch just to see what would happen. Didn't know at the time about the ability to import, hence last week's hurried playthrough to get a somewhat normal character. :lol

The worst part is I had to re-buy the damn game, because I lost the ME1 DVD.

Played just half an hour of ME2 last night, and I can hardly believe it's from the same series. Amazing.

BTW, that "stuck in the wall" bug is present in the first game as well. Had it happen to me in the Flux, I got stuck on the island in the middle of the bar.

Well deserved! I'll probably have to buy a new pc/notebook by the time ME3 rolls around. It'll definitely give me a good reason to upgrade.

Booo, they deserve more sales!

This game is up there as one of the best acted games yet. Uncharted 2 had fantastic acting, ME2 is on the same level, but the universe has far more depth to it, which translate to a greater attachment to each character on screen.

The story is still above its peers too, BioWare are the greatest story tellers in the industry. I've only played 2 hours so far.

I love this game. This and Dragon Age shows that Bioware is clearly the best right now in RPG masterpieces.

haha, no.

True. Because after MGS4 hit the scene, nobody wanted that shit any longer, fucking hate that game.

I think Mass Effect will end up on PS3 because MS is stupid and they probably sold their publishing rights of Mass Effect to EA. Or something like that whatever.

Which is good because more people can play the game. And 360 zealots can take solace on the fact that even if the Ps3 warriors are throwing it on your face how they are also playing the game, fact is they are playing it on another Microsoft gaming platform, so they still lose.

Everybody's happy!

ME2 is pretty light in RPG elements.
Not in the RPG elements I value highly - character progression, story, party members, dialogue, essentially the act of inhabiting a role that you normally never could. ME2 handles this even better than Dragon Age, in my opinion.

This is pretty similar to what I was going to post. All of what made ME great remains in ME2, and I consider the decision making, story and character interaction to be the best of what the RPG genre has to offer.

I think they improved the game a lot in this regard, which sort of makes up for the nerfed itemization.

The best? Oh dems fightin' words.

Scary to imagine all the people playing 2 without playing 1. The 'it doesn't matter' the devs have tried to say is all hyperbole, I think you'd be way too lost to appreciate any of the universe and story otherwise. The exposition options you have in dialogues are so freakin brief...

Anyone in this thread that said "Should I play 1"...um, yes.

I'm sure ME1 had lots of used and rented copies, meaning that sales were lower than the actual amount of people that had played the game.

Fantastic. Mass Effect 2 is doubtless one of the top five games of this generation, and the best game I've played this past year, aside from Bayonetta. It feels great to see quality work so well rewarded.

This. Also, on the PC side, sequels sometimes get a boost in sales from people who pirated the original.
