Mass Effect 3: Leviathan DLC Announced [Up: Screenshots added]

Whenever I actually play ME3 it's going to have stark differences with the versions you guys played isn't it?

Stark differences with the same shit ending. I can't wait until it's cheap enough that I can rationalize buying a crappy Bioware story. 500 hours in ME3 will be had!... sooner or later. Probably later.

Probably very later. Muwhahaha! I may be crazy! But at least I didn't pay full price for any of the series!

*moons EatChildren*
these days it's easier to just resell collectors editions/content from hyped games than wait a very long time for them to drop below $30 I think. In the end, came out on top for my copies of Diablo 3 and ME3, and got to play them day 1 :>

As someone who bought all the Mass Effect DLC (even Pinnacle Station, the F-Tier DLC for ME1), and as someone who bought every Mass Effect novel just to absorb as much of the universe as I possibly could (including Deception, and we all know how that turned out), I must say I cannot even bring myself to get even a little excited for Mass Effect DLC anymore. The ending to ME3 really did sour me to the franchise that much.

I will still probably watch the story scenes of Leviathan on Youtube, but that'll likely be the extent of my interest.

After finallly getting around to playing and beating the game this weekend, I can't really bring myself to care. Even with the Extended Cut DLC, the universe I know and love is no more regardless of what ending is chosen. If what I love isn't there anymore, what's the point?

QFT

I feel exactly the same.

If set before the ending then i'm not interested, not even to watch it on youtube.
And i'm in the same boat as LumpOfCole, bought every novel, dlc and comic before ME3 came out.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel. The fictional setting was just destroyed by the ending. The EC really only managed to get me back from an (at least engaged) anger to a disappointed indifference to the entire mythos.

No more money from me.

I will end up just watching this one on youtube, really not feeling the point when no matter what you pick in ME, you get to choose your outcome at the very end anyway.

What a good series down the pan :(

Waiting for ME3GotY to have all the content.

best chance at that is to wait for the dlc to be 80% off again on xbla or psn in a sale.

Eh, I'm done. Probably because I went ME2+DLC + ME3 back to back. Still absolutely love the gunplay but I have no interest in hitting additional story beats.

ugghh Bioware, because I really want to know more about the Reapers after the worst ending ever made. Where's the "take back Omega" DLC that was heavily alluded to? Shit, you did everything but have an in-game pre-order option for it, but instead we get more vague crap about the Reapers because you couldn't be bothered explaining them in the main game. Screw you Bioware, I will pass on this, and also on everything you ever make until EA shuts you down in a couple years.

I do have to laugh at them trying to use "explore the history of the Reapers" as a selling point. After the ending of ME3, what else is there to explain?

They quite clearly block out some exposition with
"there's no time" when asking about who created the Reapers. I guess this will explain that.

Well, if a single installment of a series can drive many of the players who loved the franchise to indifference if not hatred towards the franchise, then it is probably the creator's fault.

For me, it's Dragon Age 2 combined with Mass Effect 3 clearly demonstrating that Bioware is moving in a different direction. A direction I'm not pleased with and choose not to support.

Before anyone says "They're not out to make you happy" it's my money, my time, and they will receive no more of either. Hands in the air, walk away, never to return.

Oh, what if they re-add that branch of the dialogue if you have Leviathan installed. That would count as changing the ending a little. It would also be crazy.

Could also not matter and not really change anything, lol, as for the dialog I doubt anything they stick at the end instead of shoving it off will really matter that isn't in the actual mission, probably some line about them.

Though I would love the fallout that would come if they introduced a "better" ending only if you had the DLC.

If they explain the reapers in a way that makes sense in this DLC the added context could achieve that. Then again it's ludicrous that they're adding something like this after the fact. It's Javik all over again.

You guys are looking too much into this. It's probably going to be the "secret weapon" shown in a 2 sec cutscene.

I really doubt it's going to be anything significant.

except Javik was day 1 DLC. There is nothing wrong with DLC like this if it was developed after the fact.

The point is that it seems like it's very relevant to the story. It doesn't matter when they bring it out, it's obnoxious either way.

I cant really see the point in this dlc unless you haven't played it yet.
No matter what happens during the dlc, Its never gonna change the outcome.

That ending can never be undone. :(

Feels odd playing new stuff after seeing the finale, but this sounds interesting and I'm liking the prospect of new characters for ME3.

Wonder who did the soundtrack for this. Hopefully not Chris Lennertz, though that doesn't mean it'll be bad if it is him

Looking at the wiki, this guy did the Overlord and Shadow Broker soundtracks? I liked the battle theme of these DLC, so i dont see what's wrong? Unless what he did in ME3 was not really impressing, the wiki does not mention what he did there. Was he the one behind the Mars soundtrack? It's probably my favorite music from the game that isnt from ME1 or ME2, outside of what Mansell did.

Mars is Sam Hulick. I don't have a problem with Lennertz's stuff, but Hulick, Velasco and Dikiciyan all do a much better job with ambience and electronic elements for my tastes.

Oh Sam Hulick was behind the Mass Effect 1 soundtrack? No wonder i like the Mars music so much.

$10?!?!?!?! Are you serious, Bioware!

I haven't touched the game since I beat it and you want me to drop $10 for dlc

the nerve!

Weren't all past ME1 and ME2 DLCs sold for 10$ at their release? You think they would give it for free just to please people who are not even interested in the franchise anymore? They did it with the Extended Cut, and that's the most we'll get.

They run a business, they have to hire voice actors, music composers, programmers, writers, etc... they can't give free DLC easily like that just to be nice with their (disappointed) fans. And if you were thinking it would be free because the multiplayer DLC is, well the only reason multiplayer DLC is free is because of all the money they get from the packs that can be bought with real money. It has nothing to do with the ending shitstorm.

ME1 & ME2 didn't have shitty horrific endings, but ME3 certainly did. I loved the ME universe and I gladly handed over my money to Bioware for their dlc for the previous games, but this time it doesn’t feel right - I still feel robbed after all the multi-player dlc.

I am still definitely bitter and i've lost hope and faith in the franchise but I'm still interested in the dlc. Maybe when reviews start to pour in, it may change my mind but for now the $10 is staying in my pocket.

Maybe it's time to move on and forgive Bioware, but I need closure dammnit!

I know that the ending was bad, everyone was disappointed, but expecting DLC to be free, especially if its really as big as the Shadow Broker one, because of that is just... it just can't happen, no matter how much people want it to be. It was expected to be sold at a price similar to past DLC and i'm not surprised at all.

People who want DLC that would happen AFTER the end of the game, i wonder how they can even do it without forcing you to redo the Cerberus base and Earth all over again since the game sends you right before the Cerberus base after you beat it. They would have to think of something... and who would you even play as?

Uh, sorry, but isn't all the MP DLC so far free? It's quite obvious that that is funded by people's micropayments though - there's no such obvious path for SP DLC.

That's a nice looking stage. I think I'm gonna pass though.

Only DLC I want is something that involves the ME2 squadmates.

Couple of notes from BioWare dev twitters.

- Doesn't change the ending, but adds additional exposition about the Reapers.
- More lines of dialogue (banter, squad, etc) than Lair of the Shadow Broker.

I'll wait for reviews. It's going to be really hard to pull me into a piece of content that I know has no impact on the rest of the game.

you and me both.

We have known for months that all story related DLC will take place before the ending. Yet here we are with a topic full of people complaining about it. Its terrible for fans of the game such as myself to even attempt to discuss anything ME3 DLC related at this point because the topic gets filled with junk.
