Helen Martin didn't die for this shit

What is Master P memorable for anyways to deserve a biopic? I think next to no one really knows who he is.

  • He was responsible for Southern Hip Hop being a strong force in the mid to late 90s
  • He open doors for artists to start their own record label
  • Sold over millions of albums without any promotion from the label..just loyality of the brand
  • Had his own movie, clothing, and sneaker distribution
  • Played for the NBA
  • Made Snoop Dogg relevant after the Death Row fiasco

It was no limit and cash money and we all see how lil Wayne is doing now. It's crazy that out of all the rappers those companies had, Wayne is the one the ends up being most successful.

I always hoped mystikal would get bigger but he couldn't stay out of trouble.

Other way around. brah. Even coming off Doggfather Snoop was still a pretty huge star. Him going to No Limit legitimized them and made them a much more mainstream outfit.

No Limit was huge before Snoop was signed to them. I'm not saying they resurrected his career, but he was certainly close to being on his ass when Death Row fell apart and went to No Limit.

Master P has twice the money Wayne has.

Dude No Limit around that time was on fire. Snoop wasn't even on the radar after that lukewarm Doggfather album. Once he arrive to No Limit, he got that spark again and learned the business from P which he expresses in some interviews.

Doggfather was a disappointment, but it sold as well as any of his No Limit albums did. It's not like the dude had fallen off. I'm not saying going to No Limit was a mistake, but the guy was a huge name. He could have gone to any label and it would have been huge news.

In Snoop's own words - http://youtu.be/qdZBbVbY0u4?t=3m3s

Yeah, It seemed like a mutual thing. They idolized him and he was lucky to be on the hottest label in the game at that time.

ya'll aint cast Big Bear yet, or that white dude that impregnates chicks
...or that other white thug kid

also thank you for this clarification, shit should've been obvious even in the day

I remember when No Limit came out of nowhere, at least up in Canada. In 97, I would drive my parents minivan with make em say ugh just cranked. Good times.

I'm not saying it wasn't a good decision for Snoop, I'm saying even at that time Snoop was very much relevant. he was still one of the bigger and more well known rap stars on the planet. For all their success as an upstart label, the sentiment at the time as I remember it was very much "How in the hell did No Limit get Snoop!?!".

I think that thought is a testament to how big No Limit actually was at the time, too. They were rolling in the cash, and had a ton of exposure. I read somewhere that P was basically sucking up all the artists he could, signing some for as little as $10k and would crank out some of their albums in 2 weeks. Flooding the market was the strategy at the time, and it worked.

I think a lot of the exposure was regional, though, as I was in college in 1997 in the South. You couldn't go anywhere without No Limit songs playing in people's cars, dorm rooms, and even closing down more clubs than Three Six could.

Man, those coloured CD jewel cases with the shit, way back when...

I'm not going to say that I won't watch this. Hopefully they drop a bunch of the popular No Limit songs throughout the movie.

Nice at the castings. Shit is ridiculous
Anyone ever see this amazing movie?

If not, do yourself a favor and watch it... skip the first 45 minutes or so, get to the scene where they're chasing the dude on the roof of the building in the suit. It's ridiculous

Omg, the opening is even gold, that car chase was so laughable.

Hoody Hoo! haha

I watched Gone in 60 Seconds the other day for the first time in 10 years or so. Master P had a small role in that and even having only a few lines, he should have won awards.

Hey, they got the Soul Man HIMSELF. You know No Limit wasn't fucking around on that movie.

They gonna hire DJ Qualls to be the Pen & Pixel guy. Even if it was more than one guy and it wasn't a white dude.

The first album on No Limit was horrible but No Limit Top Dogg was and is a GREAT album.

Y'all killing me with these castings. Me & my white friend were big No Limit soldiers back in high school. We wanted to be signed as Ebony & Ivory
