well total ownage if you ask me. I like the last part where he was totaly destroyed by George Harrison using the Van Gough analogy, why the underdog DS was totaly different from what was previously thought a superior PSP, the difference in graphics.
pls lock if old, tks.

WOW someone really tore apart Matt Cassamassina on the IGN forums. If you have IGN Insiders you can read his comments about Matt here:
http://theboard.zogdog.com/index.php?showtopic=14558
So what do you guys think about his comments toward Matt Cassamassina?
Here it is:
IGN, you can't silence the truth. Not with a million shill accounts and not with any sort of "perma ban." laugh
Here it is again folks, the thread that was too hot for IGN:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Its amazing that almost no one cares about Matt's comments. laugh
He plays this little game with his readers where he spews some ridiculous inflammatory bull$h*t hoping to bait everyone into a conflict. He's praying on the natural fanboy hysteria found in many gamers. It seems to have worked for him in the past, but now, no one seems to give a damn!
It seems that Matt has spewed so much BS that people have simply grown weary and immune to his childish antics. I for one can't believe how funny this all is.
I mean we can all easily dispute his comments. Its obvious that he's trying to bait everyone. His rant seems like it was written by your average 10 year old troll.
But here's the real truth. Matt has been bitter about his job for the past several years. He's also a sniveling little AV geek. Unfortunately for him, Nintendo is the only company that is not catering to the high end video crowd. So what does Matt do? He complains and complains and complains. He's going to be absolutely miserable over the next 5 years.
You see since he can afford things like a $7,000 TV, he thinks everyone should feel the same way he does. Meanwhile out here in the real world, most of us don't care about HD support, nor do we give a $h*t about the Wii specs. 99% of Nintendo fans have already accepted the Wii for what it is. None of us are buying the Wii for graphics, just like no one bought the PS2 for it's graphics.
Its simple logic when you think about it. The best thing to do is to continue ignoring Matt. Get your Nintendo news from other sites. That's what I do.

Speaking of idiots on the IGN staff. Here is something from IGN's own Matt C.
Matt Cassamassina wrote:
"Gloom and doom mostly over. I'm quite sure that despite this lunatic decision Revolution will have its unique appeal. It'll still have a place in my living room. But I think it will become more niche due to a domino effect that's sure to happen. I predict less third-party support because cross-platform ports are sure to be more difficult. And as a result, I'm sure Revolution -- like GameCube -- will become a console for Nintendo fans."
--------
This was a comment Matt wrote just after he learned the Wii would not support HD. If you do your homework, you'll see he was totally wrong about 3rd party support. The Wii has the best 3rd party support since the Super Nintendo.
Again, he's just b*tching because he's an AV nerd. He can afford things that might be out of the price range for your average gamer. He's imposing his needs upon a public that doesn't necessarily share his opinion. People like him don't care that companies like Sony are essentially pricing certain gamers right out of the market.
He's got money, he doesn't care if you don't.
Now what else has Matt been wrong about? Oh yeah, he once said that the PSP would dominate merely because of it's graphical prowess.
Meanwhile in the real world:

=============================================================
Its clear to me what Matt's real motivations are, as evidenced in my last post. But what about his credibility? Ask yourself, how many times has Matt been wrong on important Nintendo related topics?
Well the answer is quite a bit.
Right before E3 2005 Matt wrote a lengthy explanation about why he thought the Revolution/Wii WOULD NOT be backwards compatible. No more than a month later, he was publicly proven wrong.
Matt is also on the record as being a die hard PSP lover. He's even done a few PSP reviews. When the system first launched he wrote another inflammatory rant claiming the DS was a "step backwards" and that the PSP would dominate merely because of its graphical prowess. Wow, wrong again.
Finally, in my last post we see a quote from Matt where he is essentially saying the Wii will fail merely because it does not support HD. How much do you want to bet that he's wrong about this one as well?
And these are just a few important examples. I don't actually have the time to list everything this guy has gotten wrong. That's fodder for an entirely different thread.
Next up, would Matt actually lie to his readers?
==============================================================
Matt's not a Nintendo fan he's a paid writer. He get's paid to drive up hits. Even if that means pissing on your audience and deliberately baiting them for cheap ratings.
He's even gone so far as to lie to his readers.
One of my favorite "Matt Myths" is the infamous Portable Game Cube. Since the inception of the Nintendo DS, Matt has claimed that a portable GCN was waiting in the wings to replace it.
Now ask yourself something. Would a company that is making a $250 console, with modest hardware capabilities, make something as high tech and expensive as a portable GCN?
Here's one of the earliest Matt quotes concerning the vaporware portable:
-------------------
Q: "Will the Revolution and the new Game Boy be present in some shape or form?"
A: "As for the new Game Boy, you never know. It could actually show up, especially if Nintendo wants to convince potential PSP owners to wait for the true follow-up to GBA."
January 20 2005
Question: "Matt you seem down on the ds but what about the next game boy do you think that could compete with PSP?"
Matt responds: "Don't let my rants fool you. I'm not down on the DS. I'm just waiting to see its true potential realized. As for the next Game Boy, which I'll call Game Boy Evolution since this seems to be the popular title for it, I'm extremely optimistic.
Actually, based on things I've heard, the paths of the DS and GBE have intersected already. Sources claim that the idea for the next Game Boy took flight right about the same time GameCube launched. The device was merely supposed to be a portable GameCube. Nintendo was hoping to create a synergy between the two platforms. However, for whatever reason -- probably an inability to miniaturize the GameCube at a consumer-friendly price -- the Game Boy successor was abandoned."
"What's interesting is that work on Game Boy Evolution is allegedly further along than most of us would probably guess. And more intriguing still, sources claim that Nintendo is once again trying to make the machine a portable GameCube. "
---------------
Later Matt would mention the vapor ware portable again. Only this time, his comments would be immediately retracted.
Here's the important part.
"IBM may be working on a revised Broadway chip with a lower clock speed for a future Nintendo hand held - presumably one that plays Game Cube discs."
What you see here is the original article.
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j317/Gam...racted_Lies.jpg
---------------
Now ask yourself, what's wrong with this picture? First when this "Future Nintendo Portable" hits store shelves, will they still be making or selling Game Cube games?
(Of course not)
Next, what would a portable GCN do the extremely popular Nintendo DS? Nintendo isn't stupid. The milked the Game Boy franchise for almost 20 years. They aren't going to kill their new cash cow.
Finally what about the chip? Well little evidence has been shown to prove its existence. Aside from this article, which was immediately retracted.
So why was the article pulled? Was it because Matt leaked some massive Nintendo secret? (Even though logic and common sense dictate otherwise.) Well I have good reason to believe the article was pulled because Matt is a LIAR.
IGN didn't want to get caught with their a$$ in the wind, so they pulled his comments hoping nobody would notice. (It was probably Matt himself who did the retraction.)
So that's all I'm going to say on this subject. Matt's a proven liar and he shows little respect for his readers.
No one wants a cheerleader Matt, but no one want's a dick head either.
===================================================
Matt Casamassina Wrote: "Nintendo continues to dismiss new, important technologies."
That's funny, because I've always thought the general consensus was that Nintendo has always been a pioneer in the gaming industry.
Nintendo has led the industry with such things as the D-pad, 3D gaming, rumble paks, wireless controllers, and touch control.
===================================================
Matt Casamassina Wrote: "But with Nintendo why does it always come down to an either/or decision? In this case we get high-definition games,
or we get a weird, new controller. Why does a major sacrifice always have to made in order to innovate?"
So he hates the controller, hates the Wii and he hates the Nintendo DS. That's exactly the guy I want giving me the news. laugh

This idiotic comment is the best one of all. Forget Matt's LIES about the portable GCN. Forget his claims that the Wii will fail because it doesn't support HD. Forget that he once said the PSP would dominate merely because of its technical prowess.
This comment from Matt truly takes the cake.
Nintendo is the most profitable video game company in the business. That "madness" he speaks of has led them to make more money than anyone else.

Matt gets owned by Nintendo's George Harrison:
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/693/693362p1.html
While discussing the topic of the Nintendo Revolution our intrepid reporter asked Harrison the following question regarding the Nintendo DS and its alleged “technical inferiority.”
From the article:
Matt Casamassina Wrote:
“Despite being technically inferior, the DS is outpacing the PSP in sales. Do you think the Revolution can best 360 and PS3 in a similar manner? Nintendo says it's going for a different market and we understand that, but talking sheer numbers, do you believe Revolution can become the sales leader? Why or why not?”
To which George Harrison deftly replied:
George Harrison, senior vice President of marketing, Nintendo of America:
“First, let me dissect your question a little bit. Yes, we want to expand the total game market to people who've stopped playing regularly, or who've never played before. But that's only half the goal. The other half is to bring compelling new experiences even to the most avid gamers. If we achieve both goals, yes, there's no reason we can't compete favorably with any competitor.”
Secondly, you define the debate as one of graphical attributes. We don't. We don't believe graphic realism will be the deciding factor of success for the new consoles. It's like saying Van Gogh's paintings are 'graphically inferior' because they're not photorealistic depictions. But more importantly, remember how the PSP was marketed: as a device to bring the console experience to handhelds. In many ways, we've done that -- but I wonder right now whether they believe that's enough.”

I have never seen a company rep destroy a reporter’s question so thoroughly. Harrison’s use of the Van Gogh analogy makes this reporter look like a fool. It’s the perfect way to frame this debate. This situation makes you realize that many journalists in the video game media simply don’t understand what Nintendo is all about. One year later and they still don’t get it. (Here’s a clue; they never will.)
pls lock if old, tks.
