Max Payne 3 - Second Design/Tech Video Coming - 01/18

I don't suppose anybody could make a gif of the end of the video when Max pistol whips and shoots the thug?
I don't mind, but somebody (*cough* Dennis ;)) will probably beat me to it.

someone make a .gif with him running with the shotgun in one hand while firing the pistol in the other.

so badass.

Here you are. It's a touch over 12MB (the scene in question is over 200 frames), so I decided against embedding the image. ;)

So...do I dare spend $100 on the special edition of this. Hmmm...bullet keychain is sort of awesome and the soundtrack will probably be great.

The again, a hundred bucks...

I was debating it as well. Wish they had a better image of the statue. All the detail looks fine 'cept the face area. Play-arts has done better work.

I think it's fantastic that they purposefully made rifles/shotguns turn and control heavier. As long as it's handled well, then fuck yes.
It gives a player a reason to you know, actually still use all of his arsenal and not just run through the latter half with an M4 the entire time.
Probably part balance issue for MP fixed, but animation-wise it also makes sense.

I want another mousepad. I still have (and use) the mousepad that came with the first Max Payne.

As IF half of the posts in this thread aren't about the prone-shooting/rolling?! Bullet-time has been done before, broz. PSRin' is where it's at.

Mos def. Also, considering Rockstar's deplorable history with cover mechanics, I sincerely hope that they've fixed this one up. I'm far too accustomed to the majesty that is GoW3/UC2.

As somebody else mentioned earlier, it's almost ironic that R* seem to be on track to deliver the best TPS experience thus far this gen. I hope their new-found understanding of third-person combat and movement extends to GTAV.

As an aside, I played roughly 15 minutes of Saints Row 3 the other day and it's surprisingly competent as a TPS.

P.s. is that Saoirse Ronan? BABE.

As the philosopher Christoph Waltz once said, "That's a bingo!"

Niiiice! Where did you find it?

There's a dude on the Alan Wake forums that occasionally finds new shots and stuff, so I just visit there and there's periodically something new in the Max Payne 3 thread.

Re: the weapon limit... I'm okay with it. I do enjoy seeing the weapons on the character like in Uncharted, lends it a bit more of a realistic feeling. And with Max carrying weapons like he does, the animation and all that... it's a fantastic choice, personally. Love how he just throws the rifle away and pulls out two hand guns to take out three guys. It's awesome. Also, loved seeing him actually down painkillers during the shootout. Great touch.

Edit: Who is Soirse Ronan and where is she?

An Irish actress and presumably she's in Dublin as Neil Jordan finishes filming Byzantium.

Looks so boss.

I hope mod tools are in. Do you remember MP2 mods? Absolutely amazing. Can't wait till someone ports MP2 levels or the last MP1 level to MP3 engine :drool

I doubt it. The game runs on RAGE and R* don't seem interested in facilitating mod development. I imagine it'll be mod-friendly to some extent a la GTAIV, but I wouldn't expect any official content authoring tools.

I wish all companies marketed their game this way. Packed with information and gameplay footage. Me likes.

Game looks dope. I wonder if there is other elements to the game than just shooting to pace the game...

Somebody mentioned in another thread that the nightmare/dream sequences will return.

God I love the animations in this game. So fluid.

Games can look nice, but when you move like a robot, what's the point?

hopefully the learn some good lessons for GTAV. shooting, animation, movement look very thight in the max payne - footage. and they were very tight in max payne 1/2.

I think RDR showed they had learned plenty of lessons. In general movement and weapon handleability.

Max Payne 3 is showing an even larger leap. Bodes very well for GTAV.

Thanks, JaseC!

Definitely a painkiller - you can see the number of p-killers decrease from 3 to 2 and his health goes up in Max's silhouette, just like in previous games.

Anybody else noticed how when Max switches from M16 I think to 2 pistols he *drops* the rifle to the ground?

How awesome? So awesome.

It's also interesting and reassuring how R* did not fear in making a direct sequel (part 3) instead of a reboot or some non-named sequel/ prequel/ spin off.

Can someone Gif the part where he shoots the enemies vest first and then his head?

This bit towards the beginning of the video?

Love the sense of impact.

Edit: Didn't realise the gif is a touch over 9MB. If its size is bothersome, I'll replace it with a link.

Thanks, JaseC!

No worries. :)

I think the time has come for blackout. I've sen enough videos that have convinced, want the game to be fresh now.

That's the great thing about R* - even with these videos, they seem to be restricting what they show in regard to locales. It's much the opposite of, say, Naughty Dog/Sony's media barrage with Uncharted 2.

This looks goddamn awesome. Definitely the most positive surprise in the past 5 or so years and could be the contender of my GOTY if the story delivers like the gameplay seems to do.

I love the moment he throw his two handed weapon and go for 2 pistol in his holster. awesome.

man, please let the control be good and have nice smooth framerate. RDR is not too bad, but I still have to rely on auto aim for that game, this game need to do better than RDR control.

well, I prefer my PS3 console setup with comfy couch, 42 inch plasma tv and 5.1 surround system, but I do have decent pc (with old monitor and stereo speaker). if the PS3 port is less than ideal, than this won't be the first game that I have to sacrifice comfy couch for performance. Skyrim is an obvious example recently.

Not a fan of the over the shoulder view for 3rd person shooters, but everything else looks really solid. I like the push to mid May as well.

Plug your PC into your TV. All the comfyness of a couch, none of the 720p, sub-par framerate-ness of a console.

you can even use your PS3 controller on PC - and if you have the right bluetooth adapter you can even play it all without a cable, just like you would on your PS3
