Has 95% of you people never heard of high-res textures/uncompressed textures? I'd can't wait to see the console comparisons once the thing comes out as the crow will be pipping hot and made to order.

While the textures might look better, the PC screens they have released so far haven't shown anything mindblowing in comparison to recent PC releases.

Saw the TV commercial for the first time last night and literally had chills running up and down. The song, "Tears" by the group Health was so fitting. (Their composing the entire soundtrack) I ended up YT'ing the video and watching it over and over again. So glad I have the Special edition coming. I need that soundtrack NAO.

It was obviously going to be GFWL, GTA IV + Episodes was.

Never had any problems with it, I actually welcome it.

LA Noire wasn't and on Steam it actually used some Steamworks features that were nice.

LA Noire wasn't a true Rockstar production, so it wasn't bound to have GFWL. Max Payne 3 however is a core R* product and they seem keen on using GFWL.

GTA V on PC will most likely also have it, wait and see.

The PC port was completed 100% by Rockstar. And I don't get why people are so obsessed with that distinction. These are publisher-level decisions most of the time.

Because implementation of GFWL is decided at a different stage that isn't when a bunch of guys at Rockstar gets told to do a port.

LA Noire wasn't a core Rockstar production, no GFWL.

about the 35GB free space, it could be a smart move from Rockstar to reduce piracy.

I already pre-ordered it on steam and i hope we can pre-load it before release. If not, well this might take a while.

PC Gamer be trollin'.

Pirates generally have alot of really big harddrives so 35GB isnt much to a pirate.

I'm not talking about the space i mean the time. Not everyone has good internet and wants to dowload 35GB just for one game. So i think this is a good thing.

Wouldn't that also reduce sales on all digital distribution versions? For the same reasons. Hell you'd probably get better speeds on bittorrent than steam.

Assuming your theory is correct in any significant manner of course, which is debatable

Yeah. They would remove non-English languages, compress FMV's if is necessary, and then put remaining files trough several stages of compression.

My rig has 4 GB, and I can run most games smoothly. It's usually VRAM, or my GPU in general, that holds my rig back. I was thinking of bumping that up to 8 GB, but for video editing purposes.

Oh, sure. 8GB isn't recommended due to necessity, but because it's dirt cheap (jumping down to 4GB only saves you ~$15).

8GB is a good baseline, 4GB will get you by fine but upgrading to 8 made my system flow a lot better, especially when tabbing around with big games open, etc. (and I run fairly barebones)

Getting 8GB of ram on a newegg sale is impossibly cheap, anyway.

Haha the pirated version is gonna be like 10GB, never heard of repacks huh?
All the extra garbage on the retail and steam version is cut out and the game is compressed into a much neater package......honestly i think devs should hire these pirates to do compression for them, the games will be much smaller on disk(to download).

And if im a pirate im not gonna skimp on my internet.....I might skimp on games, movies and applications, but im not gonna skimp on my internet i need it to pirate all the stuff i usually skimp on.

Further, trust me.....seriously trust me, a large download size is not ever gonna be a barrier to piracy....its probably gonna hurt Digital Sales more than anything.
The legit gamers are the ones who are more likely to not be willing to do a 35GB download.

I do wonder how many disks the retail version is....im probably gonna have to go retail cuz 35GB will take me weeks to download.

A "repack" in the piracy world just refers to a re-release, issued by the same group because its previous release had something wrong with it (e.g. a bad crack). What you're describing (releases with a much lower file size) doesn't really happen anymore, as doing so requires assets such as cutscene videos and music be removed -- there's no magical compression algorithm that these groups are privy to.

In the case of Max Payne 3, if the entire 35GB is indeed due to game files, then the cracked version is going to be the same size; much like the larger games of, say, 2011 (e.g. The Witcher 2 and RAGE).

I dont feel like arguing piracy terminology here, itll probably just get me banned.
But repacks are usually if not always repacks of one groups stuff by another group that scrubs unnecessary garbage and then compresses everything else to a fraction of what the original is.

P.S: The Witcher 2 and Rage repacks are much much smaller than the retail versions
^Why do i know this....I just do.

I have an i3 2100, 4GB RAM and R6850 and I'm predicting I'll be able to play this on mostly high settings & 720p with around 60FPS. The high-end specs are probably there for a people with monster builds, so they would feel that there's finally a game that utilises that hardware power (hint: it actually won't, judging by screens. It's a good looking game, but come on...).

But the last Rockstar game I played on PC was GTA2, so maybe I'm wrong here.
