They used to make made-from-scratch biscuits for breakfast that were melt in your mouth flaky buttery amazing. They also carried fried chicken and biscuits that I thought was much better than KFC.
I still get a craving for their bacon egg and cheese biscuits to this day. McDonald's just doesn't come close.
Those were beyond disappointing when they were released here, overpriced, dry and not worth it:aparisi2274 said:

I had forgotten about Hot and Now though, those didn't last long here :lol

The hell are you two talking about? The Double Decker is still on the menu, and so is the Enchirito. I know this because I frequently buy them both, eat the Enchirito first, and then fill the DDT with the leftover sauce and cheese.Vox-Pop said:That's good to hear, used to get them all the time when I visited TB.
The Double Decker and Oh, never forget the The Enchirito were perhaps the best things at Taco Bell.

If you never saw these, they basically turned McDonands into an old-style diner restaurant ala Steak 'n Shake or Denny's. They totally redesigned the stores inside and out and you would order at the table using a telephone. They would call you to notify your meal was ready to pick up at the counter.

But the strangest part was that along with the regular McDonald's items you could order stuff like meatloaf and mashed-potatoes and even mix-and-match. They also continued to be a regular walkin/drive-through McDonands at the same time.

I may still have one of the paper to-go menus. If I still do, I'll post pics tonight. From best I can tell they only tested this in Indiana but I could be wrong.

I hold something of a requiem for the Subway Seafood and Crab. Supposedly it's still available in some parts of the country, but I haven't been able to find it in California for the last few years. What a pity.
Yeah, I know it could probably be recreated if I felt like gathering all the ingredients. But it was still my disgusting, mayonnaisey fast food treat.
Glad to hear it. I look forward to going to Carl's Jr. soon.StoOgE said:So, I did some checking, the last Hardee's Superstar I had was 6 years ago. 2002, then the Hardees in San Marcos, TX closed down.
Last week, Carl's Jr. triumphantly returned to Austin. I am here to report, the Superstar is still the bomb. Their patties are HUGE compared to most fast food places. So think and tasty. Bun was the same as I recalled.
So good. So So Good.
I also got their chicken stars. Still awesome.

Any child of the 80s cannot forget the Muppet Babies toys from Mcdonald's.
Also, I miss the styrofoam containers. Especially the one for the nuggets!
Oh damn, that sucks. Doesn't really make much sense either since they all use the exact same ingredients as everything else on the menu. Like, an Enchirito is a bean and meat burrito on a plate with cheese and sauce poured on it. Can you still order them, even if they're not on the menu?distantmantra said:Certain items are regional. It might be on the menu in one place, but not another. See: mexi-nuggets.
GhaleonEB said:Ah, I assumed they were more regional. I know they were in Iowa where I lived, but not out west in Oregon where I've since moved. Gawd I miss those things.
Red Scarlet said:There's Hardees in Montana, but that might be a far drive..
I *think* the Big Montana is still here, but I'd have to check the next time I go to the mall.
Oldest thing I remember liking was the "Hero Burger" at McDonalds when Batman Returns came out; it was something like a hoagie roll as the bun and it had 3 patties staircased with cheese. Could only eat about half of it and save the rest for the next day.
