McDonald's is transforming their brand.

it varies. egg mcmuffins are fresh eggs, some others are not

Folded Eggs:
Our folded eggs, like the ones on a Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit, are made with liquid eggs that are precooked and folded before being flash frozen by our suppliers. Once in our kitchens, they’re prepared on the grill with margarine.

Sausage Burrito Eggs:
Our suppliers precook liquid eggs with ingredients that include sausage, tomatoes, green chilis, onions and seasonings, before flash freezing them to help maintain their taste.

All marketing BS. Sadly, most of the population is susceptible to stuff like that.

McDonalds is still contributing to the misery on this planet by selling shitty yet addictive "food" (thanks, science and food engineers).

Hey you know what's worse than McDonals, people aggressively mentioning that their food is processed garbage like they just got out of a fucking nutrition seminar
Please explain how that is worse. Because it isn't. It's actually helpful.

I love McDonald's. Their food is so good. When I was younger, me, my mom and my sister used to travel to Hamar where they have a cinema, and before the movie we always ate at McDonald's. I always ordered a Happy Meal, and I got a cool toy and stuff. Now I'm older, and I order a Big Mac. I wish I could eat at McDonald's every day. I would use order through the drive-through and buy like three Big Macs and two large fries. Maybe some cheeseburgers too. Then I would sit in the car all alone and eat my food. I love McDonald's! Also, I love those small bags of salt.

I love McD's and the one down the street from my house always has great food. I can count the number of times I haven't had fresh fries on one hand and I've been there dozens of times. They could plaster goatse and tubgirl all over their packaging and I'd still go there if everything still tasted good.
There are some sad posts in this thread.

It's ok I guess but I've never understood who branding is meant for. Do people really see new colors and words on the package and suddenly start eating there?

You really need to expand your horizons if you really think that McDonald's food tastes good.

Positive post and lovely nostalgic memories man but seriously, all that? Quick mental arithmetic takes your order to beyond 4000 calories. Like, are you the incredible Hulk?

Have you guys not seen the video where they were shown making the egg sandiwches? They crack it into a mold thing.

The little animated commercials they have on TV right now are realllly great IMO. Can't help but like them even if you despise fast food.

He did say most.

If you exclude Taco Bell, Wendy's, BK, I'd wager most other fast food places have pretty uncluttered menus relative to McDonald's.

You might protest and say well, that's pretty much most of them if you exclude them all.

But I offer that if McDonald's wants to really change the game and break out from their competition, they need to be more daring and simplify their menu even more. They need more to redefine the brand than just changing the marketing and look of their packaging.

Chipotle, for example:

I'm still in disbelief that corporate design has become so basic that anyone can call themselves a designer by doing stuff like this. And get paid millions in some cases. What will happen when this trend dies and someone has to create curvy lines?

The text is too damn small. Never had a problem at any of those places. Taco Bell is probably the next closest in terms of "give me 5 minutes to take all this in."

The new branding is so you can tell what era a movie was made in thanks to product placement.

Yet McDonald's serves hundreds of millions more people than any of those places do. You think they can survive without offering a variety of products and options to their billions of customers?

i cracked real eggs for the eggmcmuffin

i took a folded shaped egg thing out of the freezer for the folded eggs

i poured liquid yellow shit for meals that have scrambled eggs

McDonalds is tasty cheap and they always have lots of tables to sit on and free newspapers to read. Those are four winning points in my book but when you add them all together it spells profit.

Yes.

In fact, they might do better.

The whole point is that they are slowly but surely losing marketshare and mindshare of the new generation of fast-food consumers.

Having this for a job seems like it'd be a fast track to suicide watch.

I think they probably want to take a page from Yum brands. People are pretty active on the Taco Bell and Pizza Hut twitter and facebook pages, relatively young people I might add. And not in a negative way, actually posting stuff like "had a good pizza" and Pizza Hut responds to them and it helps with their brand. People actually beg these companies to follow them and they actually do

My horizons are fine and you know nothing of them. Lots of stuff tastes good to me and one of them just happens to be McDonald's. I put their food into my mouth and am pleased with the experience. I'm not going to disregard good tasting food just because it's cheap.

Taco Bell and Pizza Hut don't have the stigma where any Youtube video they upload automatically gets an almost majority dislikes though. It maybe bad but McDonalds stigma (deserved or otherwise) is on another level of its own.

Wading through heaps of uninformed opinions every day and trying to find the positive to respond to doesn't sound like my idea of fun.

Then again I post on GAF. :V Maybe I hate myself too!

McDonald's is good if you feel like eating McDonald's.

If you feel like eating a burger you go literally anywhere else.

That's the problem McDonald's has, they refuse to admit it.

You act like we don't also eat at michelin star spots too. Half the time I see chefs take Anthony Bourdain to street spots where it's just drunk food. I don't know what universe you live in that beef with melted cheese doesn't taste good.

It costs something like $8-9 for a McDonald's meal in Canada. Why wouldn't I just get real food at that pricing?

Even their coupons are trash now. Buy one get one coupon requires you to purchase medium fries which again makes me ask why I would eat that shit over a real meal for nearly the same price.

I'm stunned by how much McDonald's prices in Canada have sky-rocketed since we started living abroad.

I could get pretty much any one of the combo meals here in Taipei for roughly $5 or less.

Are they using more realistic burger images?

This is cool I guess but won't make much difference to anything will it.

The eggs are cracked fresh dudes. That plastic, rubbery texture you might have experienced is due to them being cooked in advance and kept in the warming bin for too long.
