MCV: Valve IS making hardware... but it's not a console

Google glasses here we come

....next next-gen

Half-life 3 is based on your gps-location, and every one fights the combine in different cities. Valve is attempting to create an army of gamers to over throw the governments in the world; Al la Ender's game scenario.

It's s state of the art Crowbar powered by motion sensing technologies that wil change the way people will play Half-Life 3

Keyboards, mice, touch screens and regular controllers are not supported.

I think it's high time that I start rambling prolifically in some kind of blog about HMD AR and VR technology. I mean, I've been doing it for a few years on GAF, so I might as well collect my thoughts on the issue. Maybe I'll get a job out of it if I'm lucky. :p

Most likely a watch. I've always thought of the future as people wearing computers on their wrists.

It won't be any specific device. It will involve a variety of inputs and outputs that all interface with an evolution of the smart phone. You'll need the goggles or some other kind of AR display, headphones or an earwig, a microphone, cameras, both of your view and other perspectives. There will also be other sensors like gyros, accelometers, barometers, thermometers, vital sign readers, etc, and everything will interface with some future version of the smart phone which has the required processing power, battery life and network connections to make everything worthwhile.

And we've known this was the hardware Valve has been researching since Ben Kuchera's interview with Gabe Newell months ago.
