Medal of Honor Reboot: First Trailer

The presentation was pretty cool. I didn't like the vehicle animation though, I thought it was flimsy. And this is looking like Killzone 2 with better lighting and colors.. and game play. I personally think Bad Company 2 has done the best job with the FPS genre and it's a shame they weren't able to make it a PS3 exclusive. It could have had so much more depth.

Fixed that for you.

You're right. MAG shits all over this game. Much better looking, deeper gameplay, much better overall.

OH WAIT.

I....what...what is this....so confused....is this the thing the kids call trolling....I don't even...

One nice thing I just remembered is that this game is due Q3. So anytime between July and September. Would be nice if it came out in August.

I swear, that pug is readying to feast on whoever's face he is studying.

Such a funny breed. Disarmingly evil. If too lazy to act. But evil.

Kind of an interesting preview detailing how the advisors have helped shape the game and some occasions where their advice had to be ignored.
Small thing but I liked this...

After the demo wrapped up, Goodrich told us about some of the more subtle bits of feedback that have been incorporated into the game. If you glance at the cover art, you'll see a real-life Tier 1 operator sporting a thick, impossibly manly beard. He's not just there for looks. This soldier is responsible for switching up one of the most overlooked parts of a first-person shooter: the hands holding the gun. When EA LA brought him footage of handgun combat, he abruptly noted that the player was holding his gun like a cop. That led to the realization that various units within the military will often employ different gun holds from one another. This is all a long-winded way of saying that you'll see different hand configurations on similar weapons as you bounce between military branches in the game. It's one of those subtle things most people probably won't notice, but it's an interesting example of the team's focus on details.
Nice.

I also think it's pretty interesting that from the details of the demo showed to the press you can actually figure out which particular squad this 'Tier 1' squad is being based on from Operation Anaconda: the DEVGRU AFO Mako 31.

I'm guessing the other Tier 1 squad featured in the game will be based on the Delta AFO Juliet or India.

I hope EA LA are able to realize their goal this time. I remember MOH Airborne sounded really promising, but then the reality set in of "Oh crap, we are running out of time and delays" and the game failed to live up to that promise.

I dunno, I thought Airborne was awesome. Really a unique game, and quite polished for something so open-ended.

Sounds like this game gameplay-wise is done though, theyre just tightening up the graphics

Well, that one also suffered from engine collapse. They had to switch to UE3 when it was made clear that Renderware wasn't working like it should.

I think the best thing so far is that they've been able to focus on single player and not worry about "How will this affect multiplayer?"

I really hope the single player delivers after being let down by MW2's Tom Clancy Simulation.

Fortunately, you've got advanced technology on your side. Toward the end of the demo, you see a fleet of enemy trucks coming up the pass. It looks as though these heavily armed vehicles are going to spell failure for your mission. But if you flip down your night-vision goggles to get a better look, you'll see a flashing strobe light on each truck. Off in the distance, a friendly airship fires a missile at this caravan and immediately wipes it out of the picture. Without any context, it seems like you've just been rescued by the military equivalent of magic and pixie dust. But as it so happens, those strobes were carefully planted by a different playable unit in an earlier level. That gradual intertwining of various Tier 1 missions is a key part of Medal of Honor's narrative. And as an example that "narrative" doesn't have to equal "fiction," Goodrich quickly points out that those strobes were planted in the real-life mission as well.

Sweet

for all the posturing they have been making about the hardcore tier 1 guys it sounds like this thing was one enormous cluster fuck of friendly fire and incompetence

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Anaconda

not necessarily the special forces guys fault but it still makes it seem a lot less bad ass.

Imagine that, a military campaign with problems. The real question is if EA has the steel nards needed to portray that side too, but I guess that is what the "inspired by" loophole is for.

Yeah I'd love to see a modern military game where you could fuck shit up royally and still proceed on through the game, not every mission in real life is a resounding success after all.

Looks neat! If it plays like Airborne I just might check it out.

Here's to hoping for gasmask-wearing mounted-machinegun-wielding armored insurgents.

Love how clean and smooth it looks. MW2 is covered in so much shit the overall image becomes hard to read properly at times.
