Medal of Honor: Warfighter - Review Thread

Jesus christ, the design on the MP maps is terrible. I've just quit a game where we were being spawn camped, the map refused to let us spawn anywhere else.

This game is a disgrace and should not have existed.
Careful, you might get a tag in regards to how much you hate this game. ^_^

If the Spec Ops license could be dragged back from a $10 budget garbage 1/10 game on the PS1 to what Spec Ops: The Line is, I definitely feel like the Medal of Honor franchise can recover from this.

Maybe it takes another developer, though. It has to get away from just trying to be a Call of Duty clone, don't do that. We have enough of that, why try to be an also-ran? Do something interesting.

Exactly EA isn't going to get MOH selling any more if they just try and do the same thing.
Not to mention I have no idea what happened to the development here.
Was it rushed? Is danger close to small to handle both SP and MP duties?
Really sad the game came out this way, MOH1 seemed like a good foundation for what the future might hold. But this just threw all that away.

This is all armchair speculation, but what it seems like is they wanted to rush this game out before BlOps2 hit just to get sales before hand. As would be harder to get people to shell out after the game is already released and folks are dug in / word of mouth sales spreading.

Hence why the game seems a bit "half-baked" so to speak from all of the info am gathering here. That I still once again find highly unfortunate as I really do like Danger Close and have heard a lot of positive things about Greg Goodrich & team during the development period with the first MoH when it came to listening to members of the military community on various things.

How so? Why do you think anyone would like a game that is this bad?

Because taste does vary, even with games "this bad." It's when it doesn't that it becomes hard to believe. Universally-anything is generally dodgy territory. People coming together on certain issues, sure. But not the overall product, that's to at least some degree snowballing effect.

For reference, check meme propagations.

This game is really fun in multiplayer. I have no idea how it's reviewing so bad...the single player? It seems like a lot of people are just piling on based on review scores and not actually playing the game. This is what I feared with it - because it's really, really fun in MP...and if it doesn't last long that will be a major bummer. It has kind of a BF3/MAG vibe...with maybe a dash of Ghost Recon or SOCOM...

If you're a BF3 Premium person on PC - pick it up. Only $30. It's great. Graphics are great, too!

wow. this seems like a viral post to actually buy the game. regardless, I had an optimistic view for MOH:W, however, just like all EA games, I'll either get them for free in the future since they make so much copies, or I'll get them for dirt cheap.

no sale.

I'm having a lot of fun with the multiplayer, but this game has the worst menu interface I've ever seen. Information overload+horrendous navigation=WTF?!?!?!?!?

Yeah man, I've waited 5 years with my account...building up rapport...all to go viral.

Sorry, can't help it if I enjoy a game that's getting bashed. We could use something like GodHand as an example and everyone would pile on with that game. People get passionate. I happen to like two things: multiplayer shooters and insane graphics. This scratches both itches quite well on PC.

have tbh only tried the MP tonight and yes there are a few bugs have to say was quiet enjoyable.

Its like a cross between BF3 and COD for me, if i could describe it plays like a frostbite 2 version of G.R.A.W.

Yes its not polished but its fun nonetheless.

And after all of this, It will still sell more than valkyria chronicles, any atlus game, any suda 51 game, any SC Japan studios game, any thatgamestudio game, any...

I do have to wonder how bad this has to be to be getting 50s where comparable games that are, to me, dead boring and look exactly the same get 90s.

Developers need to leave CoD to CoD. The Modern Warfares and Black Ops of today still bear a resemblance to the cinematic scripted first three CoD games, especially CoD2.

But these new Medal of Honors are nothing like the original, Underground, or Frontline...instead they try to be CoD4.

Metro Gamecentral review; 4/10.

But then throughout Warfighter feels like it’s been designed by an accountant or marketing executive, not a developer. It’s so lacking in personality and ambition that after completing the mercifully short five hour campaign we were filled with pity more than revulsion.

Generic, unambitious, and painfully predictable at every turn. (More than) half broken AI and constant graphical glitches. Nauseating attitude to the U.S. military.

ouch

Damn, those are some horrible scores. The color change does remind me a little bit of teh change they made in Resistance 2, but damn..... I bought it on Tuesday anyhow and have been playign it online for fun. Damn shame it got such crappy reviews. Now at least we knwo why they refused to talk abotu it on EA's forums. They must have know it would review like $hit....

This game is probably awesome. Can't wait for this weekend when I can play. :merka

I'd love so much if these sudden higher standards with Resident Evil 6, and this game's scores was the start of a trend with game critics. If shooter development has become "copy CoD4 and Uncharted 2 and hope for 90+ metacritic bonus," these games scoring in the 4-6 range can only be a good thing.

I thought Dishonored sucked. I wish I could get a refund on Steam. I love the MP in MoH: Warfighter. If you want an MP FPS...the choice is clear.

Yeah, the choice is clear, wait for Black Ops on November 9th. There is no reason to play Warfighter right now.

I dunno. You kinda need some reviews by people who are not offended by linear military shooters on principle. As in, is this a good linear military shooter, if you like that sort of thing?

I was listening to a Kermode and Mayo film review podcast the other day, and Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo were talking about how they stopped being on radio one when they became twice the age of radio ones target audience.

There isn't an alternative venue for game reviewers, so they have to keep writing about games that they just are not the target audience for any more.

And wait for Blops 2 to get 8s and 9s from the same people who gave this a 5 or a 4. Hey presto.

Obviously their BF in one year and MoH in another year plan is not working out for EA. Expect to see a BF game year every from now on unless they MoH sells really well.

Sad game turned out like this. Was one of the few people that maxed out mp in 2010 title. Mp community was small but fierce. Bought dlc map pack also but it was dead after a week.

Told myself id wait a few weeks on this. Glad I waited though I will try when it hits bargin bin.

The problem with reviews, though, is that it all tends to snowball (or mudslide). Not saying anything about the quality of this game, maybe these are all wholly heartfelt scores, but when it's this homogenous it's hard to really believe that it's SO evenly mediocre. Unless of course all critics are cut from the same tree, but that's even harder to believe.

More than half of these reviews are done by sites that really dont do quality reviewing of games..at least not on a consistant basis imho. Also i noticed a trend recently that has been becoming quite popular with these Poor Man's Gaming sites..the first few reviews that come out..msot of these Poor Man Gaming sites read those few reviews and really take it for what the review is and go into the game saying the same thing because of what the first few gaming sites reviewed the game at...in other words, it's shady lazy reviewing on a lot of these not-so-popular/poor man's gaming sites. Dont get me wrong..there are a few small not-so-popular gaming sites that do good reviews on their games and have good articles on games in general but most of these sites that reviewed this game are nothing but mocking birds...reading the first few reviews and going with that flow.

I am willing to bet that the average score this game will get will be in the high 7's or low 8's... and if it was rushed out the door and needs a patch..heck i aint going to hate on the game for that just as long as they get a patch out quick. There have been plenty of rock'n games that came out with terrible issues that a patch or two made it into a classic... Arma series comes to mind and the first operation flashpoint first few games were great on the pc once they got some treatment after release..i can name a crap load of other games that were released a bit too soon for its own good but a patch or two greatly made the game much better.

So for one..take most of these review scores as a grain of salt..remember they are simply a man's opinion and wait for the game and this expected rather large patch and then play and judge.

I gave up relying on review sites for the most part a long time ago..there have been quite a few games that some sites gave the game a 5 out of 10 that i truly enjoyed only to see another site give it a 9 out of 10 a few days later...see what i mean?
