If Fragile shipped 30K, Namco-Bandai should be pleased with it. I'm glad to see Taiko Wii doing so well, too :)

Any idea on how well Echoes of time is starting off?

Oh yeah, neither DS nor Wii version are present...

Hopefully we'll see them next week.

well given that they come out TODAY... :p

If the sales were good enough they could have traveled back in time. :(

Oh well, that does it for the FFCC series then. RIP.

Was too lazy to edit my post. :p

Hey, jGAF--I read a story today suggesting that most retailers had resumed stocking Magikons given that the lawsuit over them is expected to drag out. I guess retailers are hoping to grab the cash while they can.

Can anyone confirm?

I've heard of a new wave of DSi compatible ones, I'm going to akiba this weekend to get a sf4 stick, I'll see what is going on.

What's the sell through of Fragile? Full 1st shipment?

Just shy of it. 16k first day was reported to be around 45% of the shipment, so we're probably looking at a 35k initial shipment. It's done between 23-26k of that so far, so that's around 70% sellthrough for the first week.

The rest will almost certainly go in the next week, but I wouldn't expect much more after that unless it gets really good word of mouth and another reasonably-sized shipment goes out. I'd say around 45k lifetime.

Yup, I saw Taiko back in stock, it was the #2 seller at the Tsutaya close to me. Guess it should hit the 400k Namco is aiming for.

It will do that easily. The last 2 weeks shows that demand is still very high. I think its a lock to get above 500K and has a good shot at 600-700K.

And since retailers don"t have tons of excess stock there will not be a price collapse. If Namco dosen't do a second shipment and this gets good word of mouth, the price could actually increase.

It happened with the GBA version of Rhythm Tengoku. For a while used copes were selling for more than retail price.

It would be nice if it gets a second shipment but Namco might figure that it's too front loaded and not bother. Hard to say at this point.

Go go Fragile!

PSP got a nice boost, thanks to Zill O'll Infinite Plus and the continuing success of MH. What's the former game about?

So yesterday's dblog set matches MC data except #4 and #5 changed their positions (but not their numbers).

But now there's a full set on dblog with top40 + hardware that doesn't match MC or Famitsu and I doubt it'll be Dengeki data.

It would be sad, of course, but if history repeats itself, we might see a very successfull sequel in the future.

It's a ps2 port from 2005 with some added stuff, it's described as a free scenario rpg. No idea how the ps2 version performed back then.

~40k 1st week, ~80k ltd. Good ratio on the PSP port.

Are there any plans to release Wind Waker in the Wii de Asobu series?
Well, it and Mario Sunshine are popular requests, though I doubt it will happen, at least soon. For now Nintendo seems to be cherry-picking their lesser known (relative to Mario and Zelda) games.

I wonder if maybe we'll see third-party games down the line, or even PS2 ports.

Great numbers for Fragile, hopefully it can keep its momentum going.

Zill O'll Infinite PS2 is a remake though, so the PSP one is a...port with extras of a remake of a PSX game.

1999 PSX Zill O'll - 86,318 (first week: 33,880)
2005 PS2 Zill O'll Infinite - 81,349 (first week: 42,374)
2009 PSP Zill O'll Infinite Plus - 29,000 (first week: 29,000)

PSX and PS2 budget re-releases didn't make it to any top.

Those aren't great numbers. They're better than expected given the Wii's recent performance with new 3rd party IP's, but let's not get carried away. If Fragile did 23K on any other system I doubt anyone would be impressed.

jarrod said:
No, original release only I think.
Yeah, doesn't seem we got anything on the "Koei the Best" release, so it must not have been enough to make the ~15K barrier or whatever for Top 500s in 2006 or 2007. Not too surprising, considering how small a fraction of original sales most games' rereleases do.

Interesting...A port of a psx remake on the ps2. It looks like it might chart next week, but not sell much. 80k is too much of a stretch for the psp port. Unless...the legs syndrome kicks in :lol

True, but the fact is it isn't, and the shipment was small. I personally thought it'd sell 12k first week before the day one sales came in.

Also Wario Land Shake @ 91k is nice I guess. Could have done worse I suppose. Unfortunately I doubt it's done more than 250k worldwide. :/ Anyone have hard info on it?

I think IGN said it had done 150K in the U.S as of December.

Considering the shipment numbers floating around (30-35k) I'd say they're quite good. Looking at the Fatal Frame Franchise FF4 is going to be one of the better performing titles in Japan... this on the Wii and less than what? 50k sales? And that's compared to the mighty 3rd party machine that was the PS2.

Of course I hope Fragile continues to do well enough to get a second shipment and come closer to 50k. It's shameful that Fragile hasn't had much advertising, going by what Vinnk has said, so let's hope word of mouth helps it.

It'd be nice if we could find out some more about the budget and expectations for Fragile. Because then a lot of this conversation wouldn't be based on marshy ground.

What are Famitsu totals? I remember in the "2008 Top 100" thread there were numbers for 2007 and 2008, but I didn't see lifetime values.

Agree and I admit that much of my post is based on the assumption that Fragile wasn't a cheap product and initially might have had higher expectations.

P.S is Crystal Bearers making it out this year? :)

So Wii software LTD has finally passed PSP software LTD officially now.

If the "forecast" page at GEIMIN is actual software totals, then PSP was 460.7K ahead at the end of 2008. We are now four weeks into 2008, and for the first two weeks of the year, Wii was probably ~50% higher than PSP for each week by Famitsu data.

Officially? No.
Un-officially? Probably.
Does it matter when they're that close? I don't think so. :p
