I see two things here...
Sony shipped as many PS3s as they could and Japanase are buying them as Blu-ray players and not for games

Software may not break the top 5 at this rate

*famitsu was less accurate back then so these are probably too high.

Maybe someone should make a new thread for PS3 numbers. They technically aren't Media Create and if PS3 lines, issues, launch and online tags can earn their own threads, then so can PS3 sales numbers. :)

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
People also need to remember that aside from people only buying PS3 to sell it, these games only had one or two days to sell. Next week's numbers should be higher.

Ok. Thanks. The ratio is not so bad after all, but in my opinion, Sony sould have waited another week or two to cumulate some additionla stock, because this Launch is the worst in history and only because they are unable to produce PS3 enough.

Yeah, it's like Sony's giving the Wii another chance to conquer next-gen.
You saw the ques, Sony could've sold a million yesterday and Nintendo would be forced to play catch-up but it looks like Sony will be the one playing ketchup! So much for that month early launch advantage over Nintendo...

Sony can't produce enough units to beat Nintendo even launching in 1 (the biggest one) market less.

If Sony really wanted to put Nintendo in danger, they should have launched on Spring (i'm not joking), then they would be at 2-3m in Japan already, 3-4m in USA and even launching now in Europe (we have to be shafted) it wouldn't be a problem.

But this way, Sony is going to be 3rd for a long time, because it won't catch Wii with 1 market less, it has to catch Xbox360 (which, by other reasons, hasn't launched in 1 market yet lol), and its base is already quite important to overcome easily.

For something like FF3 (a game where demand is greater than the supply and pretty much every copy is getting sold), sure. For PS3? The demand for the system at this point is so far above the supply that unless a store just doesn't open or no one ever shops there, any units they had "left" would get reported down the grapevine and snatched up well before the next shipment arrived. I honestly don't think it's possible for the PS3 to have not sold out.

Theres always the one random 7-11 in Hokaido that has a PS3 sitting in the back.

Or the store in Nagoya that put out 9 units in front and didnt see their 10th unit that was hidden behind a pile of X360s.

Meanwhile, there might be 1 million people in a line in Tokyo, with no way to get a hold of the random PS3's that slip through the cracks.

Rumored that the large shipment of Pokeman and NDSL are all sold out (as usual :) ) Probably will see some boost on software and hardware numbers.
