Media Create Sales: Week 52, 2010 (Dec 27 - Jan 2)

One would certainly hope that a big budget premium package RPG being cleared at half price would have legs.
Half price or not, it's still selling and gamers are interested in playing Ninokuni, hopefully these new players will recommend the game to other players and keep the momentum for a while.

It brings actually intuitive 3D (instead flat 2D "3D") to the masses. The sort of games which relied on a sense for depth without actually offering a 3D image before can now potentially be easily played and enjoyed by more people.

FakeEdit: JJS is back! o_O

Hmm, not convinced. Alas we'll never really know if any success is down to the game line-up/other features or the 3D part.

What's stopping those people getting recommended to go buy it used for even cheaper?

How likely is it for DKCR to reach a million copies sold? Probably up to 700k by now right?

Odds are pretty good, but it'll take a while. We will probably not get to see it cross the million mark on a weekly chart, unless Famitsu puts out a new article when it does.

Square's DS sales are really going into the toilet.

FF3 -> FF4 was a 40% drop.

FF4 -> 4WoL was a 70% drop.

KH358 -> Re:Coded was 60% drop.

SaGa2 -> SaGa3 looks like it's going to be another 50%+ drop.

DQ is the only brand which continues to do well for S-E on the DS, but I wonder if DQMJ2P will see another huge drop.

Yeah, but for a lot of those the games got proportionately shittier
:lol

In any case, DQMJ2P is expected to have a significant drop because it's just a small update to DQMJ2.

2010 top 100 will be posted this week possibly. Someone, whose name starts with cvx and ends with freak, must buy the magazine.

If it were in the magazine this week, it would have been up hours ago. :p

It was posted at this issue at 2009 and 2010. It's weird there is a delay this year.

How likely is that one of the two trackers messed up with console labels?

Numbers are suspiciously similar/close for the first four places.
(EDIT: I know there's separate tracking for PSP/DS SKUs and that makes this theory quite unlikely, but still...)

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too, though a discrepancy of this size isn't completely unheard of.

Sounds very likely, but considering Media Create's number are one week old, it'd have to be Famitsu messing up the top four.

Ouch the PSP shortages are real.
But PS3 is doing really fine. A bit weird that it's continuing to get sales similar to its Christmas week.
Nintendo is doing well too. I wonder if DS sales will collapse as we approach the 3DS launch.

SO HEY GUYS. Software data is still way the hell out of date, but I've just put in the rest of 2010's Famitsu and Media Create hardware data at Garaph.

Also, this is a few months old but new to you because I never told anyone, but along with the existing DS and PSP versions of the site, there's also a Kindle one.
