Media Molecule's new IP 'Tearaway' Announced

What do we know about it? Is it a collection of mini games? Play, create, share? SP adventure?

It looks really beautiful, but as others have said, it looks too gimmicky as well. If it's as shallow as as the trailer made it seem, I'll be very disappointed.

Interesting comment from MM's official site

Nice to hear that there's more to come from them.

didn't MM invest like a lot of money for some research for their new game? Tearaway looks like a more straight forward game compare to LBP with it's very complex create system. I assume their big research will be for their other game and not tearaway.

unless tearaway have some unannounced feature or mechanic on par or exceed lbp create feature.

Love the way the game looks.

I love that anything in the game can be made into actual papercraft objects:

"Interestingly enough, whilst with LittleBigPlanet you could create any real thing in the game, anything you see in Tearaway’s papercraft world can be created in the real world from bits of paper! "

Actually, they can implement blowing as a mechanic too. Have us blow into the screen (mic), and send the paper monsters flying. Or help the messenger fly over the enemies.

Ya, that's why I'm not buying the game. I've played Zelda. Blowing as a mechanic is always terrible.

I would much much rather have the game with out all touch stuff. Can't we get a nice normal 3D platformer?

This is a Vita game, actually designed for the Vita using Vita capabilities, which is something that the Vita desperately needs. I love straight 3D platformers too, but I'd much prefer something that shows off the handheld's capabilities. I think this is right up Media Molecule's alley, too.

Looks great, and I think it's going to hit that sweet spot where kids and adults can both enjoy it. Hopefully when it releases the Vita isn't a completely dead system.

I adore the visual style, the game world and the characters. Looks amazing. However, the realistic looking finger looks totally out of place in this beautiful paper world.

Also, i still have to encounter the first game where all sorts of touch control benefit the gameplay (instead of annoying the player). Hopefully, this will be one of those games that manages to convince me otherwise.

That said, i'm super excited for this original, charming and wonderful looking game. Looks like the type of game i'd love to play (minus the touch controls) so i can't wait.

Interesting, it looks like Media Molecule like Naughty Dog have 2 teams now. I wonder if thats the issue with Suckerpunch and Guerrilla games.

Looks like a great interesting game, using the Vita's peripheral functions in a way that makes sense. Now for god's sake Sony market the shit out of this game.

LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule took the lid of its keenly anticipated new project: Vita title Tearaway. See our dedicated post from the Guildford, UK studio for a closer look.

There´s no saying in the official blog about it being Vita exclusive. Knowing Sony they will make it PS3/Vita game.

This looks wonderful. Good job pitching it to me, MM and Sony.

I'm in, and I know at least one friend who now wants to buy a Vita because of this.

Now this looks great! Good use of all the Vita's options, nice graphical style and from the look of it very creative.

Im going to need to buy a Vita for this game, looks amazing.
Sony's reveals at Gamescom have been knocking it out of the park

Looks like it uses all possible features of the PS Vita in quite creative ways. I approve.

Im getting more unsure whether to purchase a Vita or new PS3 these days.

Exactly the sort of thing *I* want to see on Vita. Unfortunately, the games I want to play don't always sell all that well, but I'll take it.

Hah, I feel the same way these days. I'm trying to stop worrying about it.

Tearaway looks delightful, I care not whether it's a 'system seller' or 'killer app.' I already have a Vita, and this looks like something I'll enjoy playing.

Welp, first game I have seen on Vita that screams "I can only properly be played on Vita".

Awesomeness.

Thought it looked really cute. Look forward to seeing more.

Also, the concept is that you are holding a paper world in your hand. A realistic looking finger just reinforces it. Same with the blowing and yelling at the game.

Seeing it from this perspective, the realistic looking finger does make a lot more sense.

Super excited for this game.

I love the artstyle and how it ties to some gameplay gimmicks. That said, while the back-touch stuff looks sort of neat, it doesn't look all that appealing to actually do, and the microphone thing can go as well. :/

Looking forward to it nonetheless.

also the premise is Iota's world is on a different dimension than ours and Iota is trying to get to us, gameplay takes a whirl on this
