So who is this guy then?

yeah this is why people thought he was white. the actual selfie in the e3 video looked like a totally different character from what ubi posted on instagram.

In most games there would be nothing inherently wrong with a white MC. In this game though it would turn it into yet another tale of poor oppressed natives who need a white savior to rescue them

Isn't that a bit of an overdramatic way of looking at FC3? No one there seemed that insanely helpless (many of them are the reason Brody even got his mad skills) and his skin color never had anything to do with the game. He just happened to be white.

There's something weird about him, maybe his eyes are too close? I don't know. But still, he's pretty hot, I like him.

Certainly an improvement over Jason Brody and nice to see more protags who don't precisely fit the "white dude w/ gun" template.

What a stunningly insightful contribution.

Like 90% of the comments in here. Exactly why I put "LOL" on my post.

Wasn't the whole point of Jason Brody that he WAS a generic frat boy type?

Yes, but the game didn't really use him to satirize or parody anything very effectively if that was the writers' intention. He was a pretty flat character who got vaguely more willing to kill people and take revenge as the story went on.

Ok, white guy = bad character. Ok good to know.

No, white guy(gal) = almost every single MC ever.

It's nice to have variety.

I like pizza, doesn't mean I want pizza for dinner every freaking day of my life.

This is what the first time we're having a (north) indian/nepalese MC in a game?

More than enough of a reason to celebrate.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I'm really excited in a kind of academic way to see how they shake up the story in terms of Ajay's motivations -- but in the end, we all know it's going to result in him getting guns, slaughtering hundreds, and blowing shit up. That's the shortcoming for a lot of these shooter stories -- it's nigh on impossible to empathize with a character outside of cutscenes when that level of violence is mandated by the game's mechanics.

EDIT: The game will probably still be fun as shit though. I just feel Ubisoft trying to be more responsible in their mature storytelling while also pushing the insane violent gameplay to new extremes are at opposing ends.

Closest I know of is Ash Farruk, one of the protagonists of Front Mission 2. He's from a renamed future version of Bengladesh.

Ok. But why does he have to be some meathead stud with perfect hair and goatee? Also, typical almond eyes. Why no battle scars on his face?

Riiiiiighht.

You pointed me in the right direction, thanks.
