Battersea Power Station said:Here is the wishlist for the phone and for Android in general, after 3 days of use. Some of it is hardware, some of it is general OS, some of it is app-specific. It's just my personal list and might no reflect your own desires.
- multi-touch -- this would make browsing a lot faster
Well, firstly, there might be 10 different ways of programming you can achieve that effect and Apple might have 2 of them patented. Secondly, since it's open source, there's not much they can do about it. Someone can just customize a webkit browser to use multitouch.Onix said:My understanding is that Apple has a patent on that.

In the G1's case, however, the hardware doesn't support it.
The Latitude XT is multitouch.Onix said:My understanding is that it isn't a programming issue. They patented the screen technology (or maybe worse, its an IP) that allows for its detection.
I hope I'm wrong on this ... but I thought it was discussed here. Hopefully that info was incorrect.
Fixed. I used that POS and it was awful.Dazzla said:The Latitude XT is really really really shitty.

A few other very cool apps have popped up like the Home app mentioned earlier aswell as the MySpace and Mobile Banking app.

HomerSimpson-Man said:So how much is this under the cheapest plan?
I wanted the I-phone couldn't swallow all the extra money each month since I'm not that heavy of a cell phone user.
PSGames said:Oh please that shit is no where near as intuitive. For one you have to buy a lens to put over the camera to take pictures of very near objects with the iPhone. :lol You don't have to do that with the G1.
Then that application sends the picture to snapper.net and you have to leave the application and pull up prices in Safari. Only online prices at that. With G1 you stay in the application, it pulls up all the lowest online prices aswell as locally (based off your GPS). You can then proceed to buy through the application the item online or it will give you turn by turn directions to the local store you've chosen in the app. Also you can setup to have it alert you when that particular item hits a certain pricepoint. And finally it will give you user reviews aswell. All through the application.
NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Wal-Mart Inc. (WMT) will start selling the G1 phone at a discounted price starting Wednesday, a Wal-Mart spokesman confirmed Monday night.
Wal-Mart will carry the Google Inc. (GOOG) G1 phone, sold through Deutsche Telekom AG's (DT) T-Mobile USA, in 550 Wal-Mart stores at the reduced price of $ 148.88 for new customers, or existing customers eligible for an upgrade, who sign up for a two-year agreement, Wal-Mart spokeswoman Melissa O'Brien said.
Consumers interested in purchasing the T-Mobile G1 can save $31.11 at Wal-Mart as opposed to buying through T-Mobile, which sells the device for $179.99.
Judging from the video I just watched at http://nokia5800.net/ it lacks in UI speed and responsiveness.anotherworld said:Has anyone seen the Nokia 5800 Express? Now that a phone with features. It doesnt lack anything.
B!TCH said:The OS on this phone is really cool. It's actually a legitimate iPhone alternative IMO.
Are all the applications free?
That's weird. I'm pleasantly surprised by how fast they're being released. Not all of them are useful (LOLcat builder) but I'm very encouraged by the speed with which apps are added to the market.Ignatz Mouse said:My only complaint right now is one I knew I would have-- not enough apps yet. I imagine this will change very quickly.
Remember thats a prototype.Schrade said:Judging from the video I just watched at http://nokia5800.net/ it lacks in UI speed and responsiveness.
