Mega Man Legends |OT| In a world covered by endless water…

Character models in this game are seriously amazing for their time.

It's incredible that this:

Came out the same year as this:

That's not really fair seeing as how FFVII is an RPG where the characters are meant to be small like the previous games.

Any recommended special weapons for the final boss? I'm doing awful, lol.

You probably got him by now, but your Mega Buster with ATK cranked up is your best weapon for endgame, since everything else requires you to stop to shoot.
Actually you can use the grenade arm or the gatling gun. I think those are the two special weapons that you can run and shoot with at the same time. Should give you an extra edge, along with a maxed out armor, health and energy canteen. Good luck!

Vacuum Arm and the Active Buster.

Whoa, Active Buster had unli ammo too?

And I realized how Vacuum Arm became "built in" as of MML2 due to the refractors homing into Volnutt.

Speaking of which, you think we'll get MML2 in PSN?

It's very likely, we got X4, X5, Tron Bonne and 8 on US PSN.
The rest is a matter of time should they clear up any licensing etc.

Thanks for the helpful tips! I ended up grinding for better gear, only to not need it; strafing and running around in circles did the trick nicely.

My playtime ended up being just shy of 10:30 hours.

If we got Legends 1, a game with a lot of liscencing legal tape behind it on PSN, Legends 2 shouldn't be that far off from landing on PSN :).

The question is 'When' rather than 'If' now, so my bet is that we will be seeing the game land on PSN sometime in November/December or January/Febuary. They could be saving it for another Mega May (with a Vita port of Legacy Collection/MM5, MM6 and the PS1 version of MMX3 landing on US PSN alongside Legends 2 launching with them) as well.

Ot of curiosity, are there any games with a similar structure to MML where there are traditional overworld/dungeons but the dungeons are all connected?

Closest thing that came to mind is Captain America: Super Soldier. The whole game seems like a bunch of isolated levels until you realize the entire underground is a huge series of paths that connect every level like an open world.

Grats. First time playing the game? Final impressions?

FFVII's battle character models also look like crap, and those are the "realistic" versions.

Come on, they looked fine back then. Crap is a bit harsh.

MML just has a great artstyle which helps it hold up more.

A couple of weapons had unlimited ammo if you upgrade them enough, but in reality you can get through the whole game with just the buster. I loved the Vacuum because it would make shard farming so much easier.

Yep, it was my first time. I thought it was great; it holds up especialy well for an 18-year old game. On consoles I can't imagine many other third-person action titles holding up as well from 97. Thought the environments, interaction, and side quests were all very well done, and offering good incentive to explore. A minor quibble would be wanting a *tad* more variety in the environments. Seeing places like
Old City and the Subcities
offered some really nice visual variety, so thought it would be cool to have slightly different looking areas in the overworld, but again, not a big deal. Some more gun powerups ala 2D Megamans would be cool, but again, not necessary.

Time to buy Tron Bonne.

Megaman had textures, that's the only difference. The FFVII models in battle mode are still on a screen that's pulled back pretty far except when they do specials. The game looked fine back in the day considering it was on the Playstation. That thing could hardly hold polygons together as it is.

I'm scared - does this game still hold up? I loved it so much when it first came out but haven't played it since then. I know MML2 improved over the first in a lot of ways too.

Wow...i kind of love this game. Some super rough edges, but so damn interesting. Really shocked at how well design ed the boss battles are. I cant even imagine what a current gen MML would be like...so so much potential with low poly design and a ton of horse power behind it

We all imagined it for a long time. Capcom announced and then crushed the realization of that dream.

It truly absolutely does. I still think the game was so ahead of it's time. Some of the voice acting in this game is better than titles you'd see on market today, I feel.

Anyway, dive in. And welcome back.

Yeah I kinda felt the same way, it was definitely ahead of its time. Thanks.

Yeah I honestly have been fairly impressed with the encounter design right from Mission One. I dunno how much of this I actually played back in the day, almost none of this seems familiar. This must be one of those games I rented and sent back after I barely touched it for a week. Oh well, just makes it all the more fun and fresh for me now.

Compared to games with really shitty voice acting maybe... voice acting in this is fine in tht Saturday Morning cartoon way, but it doesnt really hold up

Also I HIGHLY recommend putting shooting on the L trigger, lock on the R trigger and camera on the right stick.... much easier to circle strafe

It's the only reason I bought my 3ds at launch. Don't get me wrong, I'd have gotten on anyways, just maybe after a price drop. I was so excited. Now, only sadness.

I can see why they were hesitant to put this up for purchase. There are quite a few audio glitches during Bonne family scenes, stuttering during certain cutscenes, and occasional visual anomalies

I'm thinking about getting this and finally beating the game. Are there any announced plans to release 2? I've never played that one.

Why was ff8 such a big upgrade in quality?

Why am I enjoying this even more than I did as a child? Man everything about this game is striking a happy chord with me, from the cheesy 90's voice acting all the way to the timeless and still extremely pleasing pixel art. It also kind of makes me sad though as I really don't think we'll ever get a Mega Man Legends 3, and even if we did I think something would be lost by making it super beautiful on a PS4 or PC as opposed to being limited to extremely well done pixel art on the PS1 or N64.

Daaamn.....also I have tron bonne but havent playe it because i was waiting to finish MML....should i do Tronne before or afer whenever MML2 comes out?
Yeah Tron is a great inbetween game before Legends 2. It actually introduces a few characters you'll get to know in the second game as well.

Near end boss help
Jeezus the flying red mech thing DESTROYED me....what the hell am I supposed to do if I can barely lock on?

You shouldn't ever be using the Legends 1 lock-on at all. It's useless.

For that fight, just up the range on your buster. The normal buster has a ton of auto-aim, so with enough range you can just run and jump around while looking somewhere vaguely close to the enemy and holding down the fire button.
You could also try the Active Buster if you have it. You can't move while firing, which is a huge disadvantage, but if you upgrade the Special stat then the missiles will home in even more strongly than the normal buster does.
Also, whenever you're about to be hit, just roll. The dodge roll has crazy long invincibility.

Beat that boss
Its actually super easy if you just use the look button and acta s a turret, you can hit missles pretty easy

Not really. The only thing Legends 2 does batter than Legends is the controls.

I think I agree with this. Legends is my all time favorite series, but the only thing I thought Legends 2 better was the controls/combat. Legends 2 felt like it lacked a lot of the charm from the first game. It's still terrific, though. Just kind of lacked the magic from 1.
