Megabonk

BennyBlanco

aka IMurRIVAL69

Saw this on top sellers and gave it a go. It's like 3d vampire survivors + risk of rain 2. If you like these type of games it's definitely worth checking out the demo at least. Progression is really well done. Art style is kinda ugly but I got used to it fast. Runs nicely on deck too. I like it better than Soulstone Survivors and Deep Rock Galactic Survivor already. Oddly it seems they lifted some sound effects straight from Vampire Survivors but I could be wrong.

Been playing this game for a week. It's very intense and addicting.
I've played most major survivors-likes and this one successfully transitioned the genre into 3rd person. A huge plus is that the dev didn't hold back being able to go all out with power levels and synergies. He's the kind of guy that wants you to break the game.

Yeah this is way better than soulstone IMO. Although I liked that one too.

I cant wait the day when these vampire surivival likes are dead and burried for good
I just want one that's fully fleshed out intelligently.

I would love a Diablo spin off for this. Doing this in the Diablo universe with Diablo classes, combat, etc could be really cool if done by a talented dev team.

Megabonk is the name for the shagging session I go on down the local when I get coked up and when the bash addict slaaaags are out after getting a babysitter for their dirty weekend out

Dev announced it's sold a million copies. It's a hit! I picked it up yesterday and it's a lot of fun, 3D Vampire Survivors but even more wacky, basically.

Yeah I'm enjoying it. I wish there were more levels. The verticality of the levels adds something I didn't even know I wanted from these games. Really reminds me of risk of rain 2.

This game is actually excellent. At first impression the graphics are bad, but they're actually perfect and refreshing -despite all the units, you always know exactly what is going on with clean lines and none of that motion blur crap. The real-time gameplay has a lot more depth than VS because you can jump, get additional jumps, and jump height is affected by movement speed...and you can also build momentum by sliding down slopes before a jump. So you have a lot of options to escape swarms, get around the map to find things, and grab power-ups. Depending on the character you pick and your build you have a wildly different experience, when I was the Robin Hood type character my friend said it was like Metroid because it looked like I was shinesparking like cannonball everywhere with all the stats that were stacked.

I don't mind this genre, but the art direction of this is waaaayyyyy too obnoxious for me to even give this a chance. I'd be annoyed in seconds.

Respect to the dev, dude made a game in a few months and must be swimming in money now lol.

Literally makes my eyes hurt. Can't imagine playing it. Maybe I'm too old.
We are, game's definetly marketed at a zoomer younger audience.

Tweet is old news, it peaked at 117k today. As someone pointed out, the peak is higher than Vampire Survivor's 77k and it's the game which spawned the genre.

Played a few hours and refunded it. I think it does a good job of translating Vampire Survivors into 3D while sprinkling in some new ideas, but I really don't want to fall down that rabbit hole again.

I liked Vampire Survivors but waited for the genre to gestate before coming back for its final form, Vampire Survivors 64

Game is great! Played it for an hour straight off Library Sharing. I felt like I got too powerful on my first run as the knight character, but that "final wave" really kicked my ass!

I find the survivors genre to be designed by someone trying to get people addicted to them, rather than to have actual fun with the game. To paraphrase The Electric Underground: Those games should be called "Progression Hell". What you are really playing is the progression system, which is attached to a very basic "game", if you can even call it that.

I always viewed these games as a way to get the endgame ARPG experience without investing 60 hours in a character. By the end of PoE or Diablo or whatever you are just walking around while a stupid amount of particle effects pop off and everything is dying.
