Mercedes-Benz Mario Advert Exceeds Expectations

Flawless.

This new licensing thing is going to be very interesting. I wonder what other things Nintendo will attach its properties to.

Wario sponsoring all manner of obesity-inducing snacks
Super Smash Bros sponsoring UFC
Animal crossing and real estate agents.
A live-action fire emblem series on some tv network that covets that sweet Game of Thrones money.
legend of zelda tazers and mace. "It's dangerous to go alone, take this!"
Pokemon on every consumer good possible.

We're seeing McDonalds x Nintendo again, we've seen Mercedes x Nintendo as brand new (and completely out of nowhere) partnership...so...

Possibilities

Most obvious ones: LEGO, for the love of God, or Disney (what about Nintendo Direct being shown on Disney Channel as well?)
Brand new and completely out of nowhere: Barilla, random European soccer team,...

This are good news. Also because all the ad campaign is very well made and not annoying at all, plus the DLC will be free. That Mercedes tv ad is one of my favorite commercials I've seen this year so far.
Let's see how that translate into car sales
Hahahaha!!

I thought this was going to be about record numbers of downloads for the DLC but instead it's for actually getting people to check out the car. Surprising and pretty cool. The power of Mario. Nintendo thinking about licensing out their IPs outside of games more could turn out to be huge for them.

That's what I'm wondering, talk is cheap. It's nice that people are excited for Mercedes cars, but saying "I'm excited for Mercedes cars" and "I'm buying Mercedes cars" are not always the same

I dont get it, why did so many laugh at the "translate into car sales" comment?

Because every recent positive Nintendo thread has seemed to devolve into 'let's see how that translates into hardware sales'.

Even this one which is not a Nintendo thread, but still there are a few wondering how it will affect Wii U sales, lol.

That's been the defacto troll comment in any thread with even remotely positive news for Nintendo. Its been extreeeemely common.
Ah ok, now i understand, thanks :) I took it as a serious comment at first, because it is a car commercial and people just checking the car out might not lead to sales, so i didnt see anything "wrong" with the comment.

this thread is not about car sales though, that's why the comment is rather fitting.
