Mercenaries 2 for Christmas (PC, PS2 ??, PS3 & X360)

available memory, os memory footprint, tons of memory on these boxes... there is nothing that contradicts those statements.

Since it would take far too long to find a specific post regarding what I'm talking about.. I'll turn to The prime internet offering for PS3 Hate... Joystuq.com

And this is just part of what I see.. It's been alot worse.
well that joysti q story was referencing something on the 1up show. someone told a journalist the wrong thing, and it got quoted all over the place. we know that's not the case now, but it is still something that someone at bethesda told someone at 1up.

Methane all I can ask is "Why?"

I mean you're quoting banned sites for crying out loud.

Just trying to show where I was coming from..

Anywho... I love the news of Online Co-op... Sounds fricking Awesome..

two weeks ago or so me and My friend played about 7 hours of GeOW co-op and it was just sweet.. Co-op is gonna be great for this game... I cant even wait...

Ok I was REALLY worried about a PS2 version when I saw the title headline, because I am sick of multigenerational games. Now I see Pandemic is working on X360/PS3 version and the PS2 version is a port down of what can be done by a 3rd party company, so the next gen versions will actually be next gen.

Interesting to see that the X360 and PS3 version will be similar (no tilt support?), with X360 getting achievements added on. With the extreme ease of use of setting up an online game on X360, I just leaned towards getting the 360 version now.

I'd rather shave my privates, coat them in honey and stick 'em in a bees nest then aspire to gain achievements, but aren't Sony going to copy that off Msoft?

fixed. honestly, drop in drop out co op is what it's all about these days.
..campaign-based, drop in drop out, online co-op is the shit these days.

;)

Being able to play through the "story" of the game with other people is awesome...

Ohhh! These shots look totally crappy compared to those renders from 2 years ago! It's clearly Xbox 360's fault!!!

Damn I can't wait to play this

What the hell is wrong with achievements?

co-op has always been awesome, but this has been the next step that the mode needed to take for so long. it kind of makes co-op and single player feel almost like one mode. heck, i haven't and probably won't ever play Gears single player, but i've finished it about three times playing it co-op.

its great that i don't have to worry about missing parts of the story or the experience anymore.

Crackdown doesn't work quite so well, as it reloads everything when your friend drops in, and you get pulled back to the agency, but it still all counts towards your single player progress, and still has all the briefings and such. once your friend joins it is like you're playing the single player while there just happens to be another human in the same city. not as well done as it could have been, but still awesome.

whichever is the case for Mercs 2, i know that it's the feature that makes me go 'oooh, okay i've got to get this'. If Army of Two, and Kane and Lynch, and other similar games have it, i'll be definately picking those up as well.

New PS3 Screenshots:

The tatoos on the back of his upper arm in that first screenshot look damn near real...

Nice...

Alot of 'jaggies' in the second pic though...

:(

This game looks absolutely fantastic and anyone saying otherwise needs to be committed. Just Cause looks fantastic from a distance but up close it falls apart. Mercs 2 looks MUCH better on the ground.

With drop-in, drop-out co-op with the live interface and achievements, the X360 version wins for me, but I would've gotten the PS3 version if it had remained exclusive.

First Crackdown, and now Mercs 2....I love these kinds of games.

I just want to see the game in motion, at this point. A lot of next-gen games seem to look bad in stills and then you see them in motion, and everything changes.

Edit: Reading is fundamental

So the PS3 version doesn't have drop-in/out co-op? Or is it just the achievements that edges it out.

Or are you saying those are the reasons you're getting it for the 360?

But if the PS3 version has all of those then you're only gettnig the 360 version because of the achievements?

So the game holds no interest to you other than achievements? Or is your hate for the PS3 really that great?

Both versions are identical feature-wise. 360 just has achievements. I just wanna see if they look any different. PS3 being lead SKU leads me to believe that it might be the better-looking of the two.

I think he prefers the Xboxlive interface that's all.

:) Great we will be able to pilot airplanes. I hope there are at least one kind of civil and military airplane in each faction.

I expect a lot of my co-op games will be spent crashing planes into each other. Honestly if somebody joins my game don't expect to accomplish any objectives or whatever cause I'll be too busy calling airstrikes on their ass. :)

yeah. espescially recognising the level of destructability of environments that the game is promising. you can't see that in screenshots.

Wow. Hate? Seriously?

I'm getting it for 360 because the feature sets are the same (aside from achievements, which I do love) AND because the Live interface is superior and I'll have more friends to play Co-op with.

Even if the PS3 had a good online interface by the fall and I had tons of friends to play with, I'd STILL get the 360 version because achievements are just fun to get. Of course, that's assuming that both versions look and play the same, which they likely will.

I was saying at the end that I really want to play the game so even if it had not been announced for the 360, I'd be all over the PS3 version.

I totally agree...

Its a very rare thing for me to play through a sp game even once (I'm an online gamer mostly), yet I played through Gears Campiagn in Co-Op three times and enjoyed every minute of it because I had another "human" with me...

Can't wait to play more shooter and/or action games with MMO PvE ascpects in them like Gears...

Dude i Changed my post.... Because when i originally read yours i could swear that you said you "wouldn't have bought it if it stayed PS3 exclusive.." Which is why i corrected my post with "Reading is Fundamental" my bad..

Just read through the interview and watched a few videos of the first Mercenaries (I never played it) and it looks great!

Hopefully all those buildings will be destructable.

oh man I'm so hapy this is confirmend. mercs 1 was the best sandbox game of last gen, and after seeing just cause, and loving crackdown, I can't wait to see how this world plays. I think crackdown style drop-in / drop-out co-op is the way to go... is this also confirmend for a holiday release?

@every shithead who thinks it looks ugly. Compare this with the first game on Xbox please.
Now take a second look at these screens (with in mind that the environments are destructible).... Thank you

the "descructible" environments theyve shown so far were an absolute joke. it was like twisted metal on psx levels, just with ps3/360 assets.

Haha you're being ridiculous. Get a hold of reality please.

Yeah compare Resistance Fall of Men to Crackdown and weep.... GTFO

seriously! WTF is wrong with some people? Jeez

btw I was wrong about this game. I should wait for the vids cause screens don't do next games any justice at all. Still more excited about GTA4 though
