Mercenaries, PS2 version vs XBox

I guess this comes from my other post. So what's the difference between Mercenaries on the XBox and the PS2? I mean is the XBox version noticible better?(Well other than the bad BC on the 360.)

Yes Xbox version ftw. Better draw distance, somewhat more stable framerate, and stuff like that.

Draw distance is the biggest though, the game is foggy in general but the PS2 version is like ****ing Silent Hill.

Xbox wins for cleaner graphics and way better load times. PS2 version actually has cooler looking explosions, but it's not enough to recommend it over the superior Xbox version. :P

I thought it was eventually determined that both versions had both secret characters, just different methods of unlocking them...?

new to me!

Oh i guess it's true according to gamefaqs

Yeah, it was found out not long after the game released. I remember reading about it here, actually, because early on, multi-console owners were basing their purchase depending on which game had their favorite character. Then the argument was put to rest when both games were confirmed to have both characters.

Are you trying to decide which one to buy?

Yeah, pretty much. Normally I just pick up the XBox version of a game if it works on the 360 and get the PS2 version if it doesn't. (Since generally if one is "better" it's the XBox version.) So naturally Mercenaries is a game where the BC is messed up:D

hey i just finished Black and Merceneries (next gen sucks!) awesome weekend w/o GF and work
how do i unlock indy? wtf

I just have the PS2 version. I didn't notice any terrible fog problems, clipping or pop up. I haven't played the game in 2 years. Either version should do, its a fun game.

I just picked up the the Xbox version last week and loving it. I'm playing it on the 360 and it runs great except for ramdom freezes =P The wierd thing is sometime I can play for hours with no issue and the next time I'll lock up 3 times within 15 mins. I have learned to save often.

same for me in PS2 every time i press start

The general rule is to buy the Xbox version of ANYTHING, but don't always play it on the Xbox 360. (unless it's Psychonauts or Splinter Cell or Max Payne, any of the games that are just screwed up on the PS2)
