Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinee (DVD - Digital Comic)

Imbarkus

As Sartre noted in his contemplation on Hell in No Exit, the true horror is other members.

So I guess this is just never coming to America, huh?

Anyone import it, and bother getting a region-free DVD player to view it? If you're a Metal Gear fan is it worth it?

EDIT: Guess I could buy for PSP with no region locking...

I swear this was uploaded on dailymotion.com at one point. But I refuse to listen to it without David Hayter as Snake.

I recall an interview with Quinton Flynn saying that they recorded the VO for the English version of DGN2, but apparently Konami never released the UMD/DVD with that audiotrack. IIRC there's English subtitles along with the English baloons on that DVD, along with the MGS1's DGN version having the same audiovisual treatment. (All the japanese VO talents reprising their roles except those who passed away)

If you like Ashley Wood's art and the comic version of Sons of Liberty's events, I guess it's worth it. I'd buy it only because Ohtsuka portraying Solidus Snake sounds amazing. (On par with John Cygan on MGS2, as well)

Here's a preview if you want to see the adaptation in motion.

Damn I would prefer a David Hayter version as well, but Ryan Peyton was the last soul on Earth I ever heard mention interest in bringing this over.

I suppose I will have to import it and then crack it since I don't have a region-free player.

Thanks for the tips.

I own this:

pretty sweet, though I've only watched MGS1. MGS2 seems to have A LOT of scenes not in the game.
If you can get it for cheap its very much worth it. But I've always loved Ashley Woods art.

edit: I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure there are big difference for the 2 releases. The psp one being only MGS1 and having interactive elements and the DVD being 1&2 and are just movies.

I remember seeing the DVD at Sofmap in Japan a bunch of times but I never got around to picking it up. :(

I have the US release of the first one on PSP though.

I have this exact same version. I bought it from Konami Direct in Japan, and was floored to find it was entirely in English.

The Sons of Liberty disc is actually worth watching, as it restructures the story of SoL in a way that makes it far easier to understand (and also highlights motivations of characters that otherwise, you had to guess in MGS2)

Did not know that. Considering how cheap this was that is some awesome value. Now if only there were 3&4 graphic novels.
