Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence Limited Edition = $39.99

I'm seeing more people report Saga coming in at end of Feb at Gamestop. My EB now claims the preorder will probably come with the game

I'm starting to become worried

I was at EB yesterday too and I forgot to ask as well.

I don't really care when I get it, as long as I do get one.
 
If you haven't preordered the LE, you might want to do it soon, apparantly Gamestop and Ebgames are gonna put a stop to LE preorders, at least accordong to some posts at CAG. Maybe it's just a scare tactic (Halo 2 LE anyone...)

Yeah, I heard about this earlier. I hadn't preordered yet (I was going to next week when I was in-store), and heard about this and called earlier; BOTH GS and EB and my area are no longer taking preorders for the LE.

ARE YOU MOTHERFUCKING SHITTING ME KONAMI?

It's not even out for over a month, and I am not buying this if I can't get the LE.
 
I thought when this was official announced, confirming the 3rd disc and the pre-order bonus, that GameSpot, 1UP and even Konami said that this was actually a limited edition in name *and* in quantity. To be honest I'm a bit surprised to see the shock at the fact that you won't be able to just walk in and pick up a copy of the LE version.

Well walk-in's are obviously a no, but I usually don't pre-order stuff until about 3-4 weeks in advance since shit gets moved all the time, then I go in and full pay. I was expecting to full pay it Monday, a full MONTH before release and it's already not available? That's just fucking stupid, seeing as how the $29.99 package does not interest me at all and will get no sale from me, and looking at other boards that seems to be the general sentiment.
 
i don't blame people for taking the word "limited" for granted in regards to videogames, especially after Halo 2, but you should always play on the safeside.


p.s. i will sell my limited edition sealed copy of MGS3 for $100 to anyone in this thread if you want!
 
Well this is just EBgames/Gamestop halting LE preorders. A couple things can still happen:

1. Stores like Walmart, Best Buy and Fry's may get limited editions
2. This is just a scare tactic from EB/Gamestop, kind of like Halo 2 LE...those were available everywhere
3. EBAY SUCKERS HUAHAUHAU
 
So basically it's being assumed that the Saga DVD will ship with the LE?
I still have an uneasy feeling about this bonus... I hope I don't get screwed out of it...

It'll ship before the games release. Konami just doesn't have a specific date as to when stores will get it.

Walmart and Best Buy are not carrying the LE, dunno about Frys but since I live hundreds of miles from one, that'd do me no good, PLUS even if any of them did, there's probably no chance of them getting the Saga disc. Also IIRC EB and GS never stopped taking Halo 2 LE preorders, everyone knew there was going to be a bajillion of them.

I already own MGS3. If I can't get the LE with the Saga Disc for $50 or less, it's not getting bought, end of story. The $29.99 is basically worthless since almost no one is going for that one, I'm not even sure why it's really being offered.

When was this? I went to my GS a couple of days after I read about it on here, and the guy found it in the computer and changed mine over to the LE. I'm not doubting you, just curious. I can't believe they didn't see it right there in the computer.
 
What about Gamecrazy or Gamerush? I'm sure one of those stores will get them in. Well not sure about Gamerush, but Gamecrazy seems like a retailer that would get Saga/LE's

That happened to me too until I had my preorder switched to the LE version last week. I had to get the EB girl there to manually search in their system.
She told us she is not even sure if it is going to come in though. Hopefully me and my friend both get it along with the Saga DVD... or it'll be Ebay time. :/
This is referring to the Canadian EB by the way.

Well then you are going to miss out on the whole online deal, and you know you will want to play through MGS3 again... might as well get the version with the superior camera.

I agree its a shame you won't be able to get the 3rd disc, but its definately not make or break material for the majority of gamers. Hell, most people are saying the 3rd disc isn't really all that watchable. A neat perk for die hard fans, but not the movie experience it was pitched as.

Still if you pass on it, there will be just one less fool to own online is all. No great loss there.

Not getting it to play online, and I've heard the exact opposite, that the 3rd disc is really neat. Regardless of that anyway, I'm a collector, I'm not going to settle for a regular edition when I should be able to get a limited edition (aside from Growlanser, no way I was paying 80 bucks for that).
 
Crap. I just ordered today. The guy at EB said it was the only one in the computer and that it was the limited edition, but it's only $45.99 Canadian, so I have no idea what it is.

Hopefully it is the limited edition like the guy said and not that they just overpriced the standard release.

Someone really dropped the ball on this, thanks to there being no clear information on how/when we'd get the bonus disc or how fast we needed to pre-order to get anything. The fact that there's still nearly a month until the release and you can't get it, not to mention you had to pre-order to get the DVD AND the limited edition is making my head spin. Then the employees at the stores don't seem to know anything... damn.

Yeah, this preorder campaign was pretty disorganized


I still see people confused as to what Saga, the standard edition and LE include. People think the 3rd disc = Saga and the Existence disc is the preorder disc. Some people don't even know what LE includes. Then Saga suppose to be releasing in mid-Feb. but all signs point to Saga shipping at the beginning of March. And now LE' preorders halted...


At least Konami is actually bringing the 3rd disc and a real preorder bonus to the U.S.

This is all on Konami. They print these kind of things in such a low quantity just to play it safe, that it never satisfies demand. Look at the GBA Castlevanias for instance. Aria of Sorrow could have sold twice as many units as it did, but it couldn't due to a low printing. Granted, Konami fixed this mistake with the HoD/AoS double pack, but they were about two years late fixing that problem.
 
Not to mention the low quantities for ZoE2, had to resort to ebay for that.

Good thing I was persistent in asking my EB to search for the LE of subsistence in their computer.
 
This is why you just preorder online as soon it's announced. It's quick and easy, plus you don't have to give the store any of your money to sit on and acrue interest off of.

Which is exactly why I did it. :D I don't fuck with Konami when it comes to these things, I know better (CV, ZOE2, etc).

Hey, I'd love to blame Konami all the way, and it totally sounds like mostly their fault for making so stupidly limited, but my track record with EB hasn't been all that impressive. Pile on the fact that the employees don't seem to know much about it (the guy I spoke to wasn't aware there were two releases at all) doesn't leave me with much faith either. Either Komani didn't supply EB with enough information, or EB's dragging it's feet. I'm willing to bet on both.

Last time I pre-ordered (Street Fighter Anni Collection) they told me the pre-order bonus was a Chun-Li figure or bust, then when I went to pick up the game they said it didn't ship with the game and they'd call when it came in. They never called. I don't really care about missing out on a plastic toy like that, but I REALLY want the MGS Saga DVD, so I held off until the info was a little more clear, and it looks like now I screwed myself over.

And that is the main reason why I waited, no one knew what was up with the Sagas disc, when you got it, etc. I had employees tell me to wait to preorder originally because if they got the disc early, I could get it when I preordered, etfc, etc. This was just botched all around.

Preordering online is no guarantee; I got screwed two times in a row by ordering online with EB under the "while supplies last" thing, despite me doing them months in advance. That's the only reason I don't order everything online honestly.

I don't really care about missing out on a plastic toy like that, but I REALLY want the MGS Saga DVD, so I held off until the info was a little more clear, and it looks like now I screwed myself over.

The Metal Gear Saga DVD also comes with the regular edition, as long as you preorder.

You would have guaranteed yourself a copy of the game, and you could have picked up Saga when it either comes in (if it ships before the game), or you could have gotten it when the game comes in. Reports indicated that the Saga DVD is not in short supply, so there's no worry about not getting one. EB will be looking to offload these things since they have so many, so every store will most likely be getting a bunch.

Well, that's good, as long as my EB actually gets the bonus this time. The Candian EBs never seem as intune as the US ones are (as hard as that may to believe for you Americans) so honestly I consider it a crap shoot if I even get it.

But, I asked for the Limited Edition and was told I was getting the Limited Editon. If I don't get it, well, that about wraps it up for me and EB.

And as for preordering off the website, ordering off EB if you're Canadian shouldn't even be an option. $14.99 for shipping to Canada is a bloody joke when you can get free shipping from so many other places (Best Buy, Amazon.ca, Futureshop, etc). Even then, I've had games & DVDs sent over the border and it usually only costs around $5. What do they pack their games in? Fetus skin?

You know, it's such a shame I can't just walk into an EB and get that same information. Becuase whenever I ask them a question I get a glazed over look like I just asked them for a Big Mac and fries to go. I would have had no problem preordering 18 years ago if they could have told me that.
 
After reading this thread, I went to my local GameStop and paid in full a LE MGS3:S. So, I'm good to go, I think.

I asked the guy about the preorder bonus, and he said as soon as they get them in, they'll call. I was under the impression that stores would've started getting them by now, but oh well.
