According to someone who spoke with the Art Department of the Gaming Compant developing MGS3 Delta at UnrealFest '23 New Orleans, the game will be on Unreal Engine, with little differences to the original due of Konami's fear on potential backlashes:

Take the information with a Grain of Salt, as the original "source didn't offer pictures.

  • The game's environments are almost fully done and they've been working on it for almost 3 years. and we should expect a release date announcement.
  • The game design has not changed a single bit. There is no open world. It's a full on facial uplift. All the environments are done from the ground up. Main Reason is that Konami is playing this one really close to the chest and they knew changing the game without Kojima would cause them unnecessary PR issues. So the game largely stays the same.
  • The team I spoke to were environment artists. They didn't give information about the characters or VO. But they had no reason to believe anything about the story or acting has changed. They did say they saw the character models and mentioned they looked great with high poly art .
  • They mentioned the usage Level Streaming. So we could perhaps assume the full game may use seamless transitions between the levels instead of clear cut fade to black/loads.

Makes sense, but thats what a lot of us stated.

Without that core team or Kojima, it makes sense to just do remakes and keep the design intact and merely do a visual upgrade with some gameplay tweaks to keep it modern.

Cautiously optimistic about this. Is it UE4 or UE5? Because all UE5 games released so far had no HDR. UE4 has been a bit hit or miss in that regard.

I hope they eventually do this for mgs1, 2, 4 and peace walker. Mgsv should get a 4k 120fps remaster next Gen when they've already remade the others. Would be nice if they built chapter 3 for it also.

3 years just to port Subsistence and give it a flashy coat of paint…LMFAO…Low effort Konami back to their old tricks.
