Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes gameplay demo

Bullshit, you see a lot of grey hair also his beard is grey. This has nothing to do with the lighting.

Stop being in denial, the two screens above prove it.

It's Big Boss. There is no hint of multiple timelines. The trailer is set entirely very soon after PW.

The End

Paz is not there, so either Big Boss is going to come up short, or it's later.

It's possible of course, although Chico looks basically the same age, they could have just decided to make Big Boss age more comparatively. It's possible either the antonginsts are wrong, and Paz was already in that compound, or BB just has bad intel. That's one option, but I find that harder to believe.

Wait I don't understand. Have I missed something other than the trailer that was released?

As far as I was aware, Chico and paz are being held in a camp. Burned dude says to Chico "she told us everything" and supposedly killed her which I doubt. BB goes in and is told by Miller they are being held in and unused part of the camp, Go fetch.

I really can't understand where you are getting the time lines thing from?
I'm not saying your wrong or anything but im not quite sure where your coming from?

I'm sorry but:

Structurally their faces look similar if you ask me.

I'm sorry but

He either isn't talking about Paz, or he's lying. When they get in the car, the other dude tells him that Paz has been found and is being kept in some southern part of Cuba, and that she might be a double agent, he suggests they kill her, but is told they want her on his side.

Yes, and the bad dudes say Paz is not there, and they're going to find her.

You need to watch it again man. I can accept the theory about the 2 timelines but only vocally. The conversation between Kaz + Snake during the song play (jeep ride) could be in the past, some days maybe. But i dont believe that we see different timelines.
Plus when the bad guys leave with the helis, Kaz says that Chico and Paz are held in the same area.

Aside from Big Boss face, nothing in the game impressed me graphically, it's an average looking game imho.

The texture work was very well done, far from average I'd say. Likewise with the weather effects and lighting. There's definitely stuff going on beyond what we've seen from most current gen titles. What games are you comparing it to?

So you're saying it is Kaz and Snake that discuss killing Paz, right?

That would make more sense, but I was under the impression she was aligned with Big Boss.

I really need to give Peace Walker another try now that I'm very hyped for this, I was turned off fast by all the motherbase managing stuff and the MGS-lite feel of the gameplay/levels. I tried to play it right after MGS3 so that probably didn't help.

I remember Kojima saying something about not caring if MGS4 looks good in HD, that no one has HDTVs, and they won't matter for a few years, and that they were actually trying to make it look dirty in some way.

Maybe MGS4 was never meant to look the best they could do.

MGS4 2005 TGS Trailer disagrees...

So you're saying it is Kaz and Snake that discuss killing Paz, right?

Snake asks if they have to kill her because she knows the capabilites of the Mother Base and MSF. If she talks and UN learns about the nukes they will try to shut down MSF. So Snake considers it as an option...but as always Kaz has a plan...

Okay yeah, that does make more sense, thanks.

I like how every few pages some random person wanders into this thread, posts "game looks mediocre, I'm not impressed" and just leaves.

The MGS4 trophies and 2/3/PW HD + trophies really came at a great time. That should help relieve the wait for GZ a bit.

The base manages itself for the most part, I myself am not a fan of such stuff in games but it was pretty painless in Peace Walker.

If you just want to finish the main story you don't even need to spend much time on the motherbase.

But Miller says both chico and Paz are being held in the camp. Surly its a reasonable conclusion that burned face man is talking about her. Given that she has major Intel on outer-heaven and major Zero?
But maybe your right and he's going on about someone other than Paz. However I still don't get the time lines thing?

It's Miller and Big Boss who have that conversation, not burned face and the other dude. Go listen to some PW cutscene in japanese

The End

Yeah, I don't get why people want to complicate things. The trailer was pretty straightfoward.

I think I just assumed it was them in the truck because people were already arguing it was set at two times.

So the two time period speculation is purely based on how he looks?

That's how it began. That's how it always begins. :(

The use of dialoge is very confusing, I vaguely recognise Snake's Japanese voice but the lines are for Peace Walker completists only, not that they should shy away from that, but a few more indications of who is talking might have helped.

What's with the yellow glow?

Nanomachines probably.

Back then he specifically said he didn't care about high definition. He didn't mention base graphical quality.

He looks like Ezio Auditore to me.

yup...i too think its the lighting OR Kojima demonstrates FOX Engine. But there is always the chance that he is playing with us...
like Old Snake in MGS4 in a trailer where he appears young but it was the OctoCamo...

This was all being planned ofcourse. MGS is talk of the town and a lot of people are (re)playing MGS4 right now and thus get suckered into the depths of hell ie. the MGS storyline. KojiPro are smart pandas.

You surely jest, blind dancing ho of NeoGAF.

Pain in the ass. I just went through the entire series not 2-3 months ago. Don't wanna play mgs4 again just for trophies sake lol

After watching the IGN hd footage again, I'm pretty sure Big Boss' hair is brown and his beard is grey-ish. The parts where his hair looks grey are all parts where a bright light is in the background, causing the grey effect.
You can see it's brown at the start where he crawls after climbing the cliff.

So yeah, Big Boss from the poster render in the trailer are the same Big Boss.

I still think it would have been smarter to keep Metal Gear Online running if I'm honest (because, as you say, the timing of the trophy patch was definitely planned. Afterall, we have a MGS4 2.0 Official Topic in this forum section in the first few pages, a HD Collection topic in the Community section in the first few pages and this topic). Assuming this has Metal Gear Online, they could have kept up MGS4's for a few more months (so that the majority of new people playing for the trophy patch have the opportunity to sample it until the surge of players dies off) and then slightly before a release window of Ghost Zeroes is announced, shut down Metal Gear Online. Then when the release window is announced the bad publicity from shutting down Metal Gear Online will be marginalised and that could be followed by an announcement of a new Metal Gear Online.

Or at least, I hope this has a Metal Gear Online. The two sneak modes were excellent.

I dont want them wasting time again in creating an online mode. At least if they do, i beg them not to ban a legit player because he leaves a game full of cheaters....

I like how every few pages some random person wanders into this thread, posts "game looks mediocre, I'm not impressed" and just leaves.

GAF is full of people who think every game looks average. You really have to wonder what sort of awesome futuristic game machine they have where literally every normal game looks bad.

I just pray Kojima doesn't harp on about The Boss so much again. I don't mind that odd mention about her but he made her out to be a fucking fairy tail deity in PW.

I know she's a big deal in the whole sum of the story but come on.

Well, the two biggest problems with Metal Gear Online were definitely the Konami ID system (including the patch system) and the rampant cheating that plagued the servers (it wasn't helped that many players, solely in my experience, ended up kicking lower level [new] players from games as well, making it difficult for somebody new to actually get into a game, even if you were just making a second character). If a new online system is introduced, they would definitely need to work on it, absolutely no doubt about that, the game became over run with cheaters by the end with generally poor protocol with regards to stopping it (I cannot comment on bands, personally I never had any but I would not be surprised if they did, unless you just mean the quitting penalty) but there was many good concepts and mechanics within it that, if refined, would make for a very good online mode in Ground Zeroes I feel.

The communication system within the game (as far as I'm concerned it was one of the best communication systems in any console game I've played with the variety of ways to communicate to your team), a good variety of gameplay modes (from the three sneaking modes [including stealth deathmatch], to capture the flag modes, to race and to the base missions) and it also had a huge amount of potential playstyles (admittely though, the skills were an absolute pain to level up requiring a huge amount of time and further puts new players at a disadvantage but the concept is good, it just needed to be refined). I definitely agree with you that if it would detract from the single player game, I would rather it to be excluded but if it won't I'd hugely appreciate a much more refined, much better maintained version of Metal Gear Online.

Thr hive mind seems to value poly's Snd textures over art direction. This is Thr only place I've seen people complain about ground trxtures, hahaha. Like, I'm sorry, but come on.

She's basically God in the context of the story.

Big Boss and Zero both interpret her will differently, thus starting this war between each other, which leads to the Patriots going crazy, and all the insanity that follows.

What I'm saying is, she's kind of a big deal :p
